One of the comments on this dox is horrifying. How long has this fucker been actively doing this under peoples noses?

Kitsune Sel's 1st VrChat world was made 2022 (the game was released back in 2014) and Steam was first launched on 2003. From the pattern of behavior I see he likes to make a new account, message multiple kids trying to get a few of them into talking to him in private, then nuking his account once he is called out. He would have been 20 in 2009 so that would be 15 YEARS of this kind of behavior, sick shit.

On a related note, as seen in this screenshot of his Steam profile. He likes to say "I studied every science....." and many people know him for saying this. I think he maybe saying that to see if a group he wants to target are in the know that he is preying on kids in VrChat.

(Random encounter that I thought was interesting)
Also there are many random videos on him on youtube too (oldest one was 7 months old). Ill post the links here.

I've been thinking, since there're so many people on VRChat who deserve their own thread, or at the very least an entire standalone post's length of context, perhaps the OP should be focused on the the people directly involved with the game's management/development and then have a summary of the state of the community followed by links to posts throughout the thread detailing specific individuals and groups, otherwise I feel the thread will never leave PG. 🤔

Not a bad idea in hindsight, but both the current OP and your idea rely on me getting off my lazy ass to finish it, lol.

I pinky-promise I'll get it done - I've just been caught up with other projects lately, and "Finish VRChat OP" has repeatedly been knocked down to second or third on my to-do list like five times now. I promise it hasn't been abandoned!

I kinda like the thread the way it is. With how vrchat works, there's lots of one off lolcows, that are kinda like christmas lights in that by finding one they are inevitably connected to like 5 more groups and individuals.

VRchat appeals to such a different kind of person. I've had a decent sense of the furry fandom for decades but once vrchat, tiktok and other "social games" emerged, I lost it. Then came Webfishing and I met a lot of these VRC people, not realizing as much. "Wow, where'd all these native furries come from? Have I been playing the wrong kind of games?", then I check their profile and it's 90% vrchat.

You can idle in second life. You can text fuck on roblox in the background. VRC takes up 100% of your body and attention, to afk in a corner, waiting for people to get online so you can get drunk and say dumb shit. And you'll not be remembered once you log off for more than a day. Why even add anyone on steam or discord? If they're at home, they're on vrchat.

An otherwise adult and capable friend got hooked on it, staying up til 3am for drunk parties, only to one day realize "wait, they dont give a shit whether i'm present or not", so he quit.

I had this theory that VRChat was money laundering for HTC. they were repeatedly sinking millions into a product who showed ZERO improvement for like 6 years. for the longest time it had NO monetization, or advertisements. but boom 5,6 even 10 million every year. despite HTC stock dropping to like 30 cents a share. I pointed this out on the forums and was instantly banned. and around when i started posting this in the youtube comments they started not allowing comments.

people on VRC are so retardedly unstable, back a couple years ago when i still bullied people online, i managed to get a furry to knock himself unconscious by banging his head against the wall.

I remember this being a common joke amongst players back in ~2018-19, that the money was being spent on shit like regular flights to Japan and yachts, which more often than not was treated as an open secret rather than a joke. They'd have millions coming in from investors, yet the development was hilariously slow, where you'd only see minor improvements be done throughout the year, right up until the Easy Anti-Cheat introduction outrage (which was, by the way, precisely the result of devs not addressing problems with the game that have persisted for years, where at some point the community decided to start fixing the issues themselves by making mods for the game) , which makes me think that this was probably the tipping point where the negative reception actually made the investors step up for once and tell VRC devs to finally get their shit together and do *something* productive.

The Easy Anti-Cheat outrage can, and probably forever will be a huge thorn in VRChat's ass, at least regarding the review graph:

tl;dr : Jamma is still actively preying upon minors online. This time sharing and gooning to the captions other pedos made for him.

I'm clueless on properly archiving a Google doc that has downloads disabled, If someone else can properly archive that'd be appreciated.

On a positive note, the retard willingly gave his ID to this game so hopefully something comes of that and we see justice done.
We won't.

Yeah most mods were literally shit that added functionality to the game. Such as avatar search, teleport to a friend, or disable fur shaders. There was also a security flaw that if you logged in through steam that your IP was easily exposed. One mod fixed that. VRChat is the twitch of VR no one’s HAPPY with vrchat. There’s no alternative. And even if there were, the player base is on vrchat.

I know the thread should be more focused on specific bad apples to contribute to the OP since it's still WIP, but I had an insight that I thought would be worth exploring in a single post.

The Mirror Dweller phenomenon reminds me of the greek tragedy of Narcissus, a man gifted with beauty beyond compare, who would lead a successful powerful life if he is not allowed to view his own face.

1737581392114.png

Medium story short: He melted into a flower from the fiery passion within upon looking at his reflection in a pond, after realizing he can't fall in love with the face he sees for it belongs to himself.

I feel a quote from Louis Vinge's "The Narcissus Theme in Western European Literature up to the Early 19th Century" best describes the phenomenon as his observation can apply to an aspect of the Mirror Dweller:
Narcissus does not love his reflection before the discovery for he has
not come to know that it is a reflection , and he does not love him
self in what he sees for he does not know that it represents himself .
After the recognition , there is no satisfaction or enchantment over the
fact that the beauty of the reflection is his own , but rather a despair
so deep that he wishes he were dead since the stranger whom the
thought he saw does not exist
He still loves what he sees , not because it represents himself , but because it is
beautiful .

Though I believe a more appropriate version of the tale is a version I read from high school in a Greek mythology compendium, where upon Narcissus seeing the reflection falls in love with it instantly. Upon trying to kiss his reflection however, the water in the pond would ripple, distorting the reflection. This would drive Narcissus into a frenzy, clawing at his own face in frustration and anger. This process would repeat itself until he had clawed at his own face so much he irreversibly scarred his head, ruining whatever beauty remained. It's at this realization he would spend the rest of his days crying at what he lost.

Both versions of the tale make me compare and contrast aspects of their messages to Mirror Dwellers, and the likely overlap it has to trooning. Narcissa Wright comes to mind, and not just because of the obvious naming convention. Specifically when Cosmo did his weird camera shows early on just to look at himself in his webcam.

TL;DR Narcissus was the first Mirror Dweller and a proto-troon.

No you're perfectly fine, I already know what's going to be in the rest of the OP, I just need to write it lol

Bingo! There's a lot to be gleaned from VRChat about the inevitable result of mindlessly indulging in one's vices; it would almost be poetic if it weren't so abjectly horrifying.

The devs released an update yesterday that publicly adds something I feel should have been in the game a long time ago: age verification. Unfortunately, they messed it up by putting the feature behind a paywall.

(article)(archive)

TL;DR: They use Persona, a well-known verification service, where you must provide your ID and a couple of selfies to prove your identity. Persona has safeguards in place to prevent something like a kid stealing their parent's ID. Once verified, you gain access to a new instance privacy toggle in-game called "Verified Only." If your account isn't verified, you won't be able to join those instances.

I reached out to a friend who's really into VRChat, and he said he was able to get verified in less than 10 minutes, so it seems very easy and painless.

In theory, this is a great idea for a game already infamous for minors running around unsupervised. The problem is that the verification process is locked behind the VRChat+ subscription, meaning you have to pay to access the feature. The FAQ in the article suggests that you retain your verification status even if your subscription expires, so theoretically, you could pay for a month, verify yourself, and then unsubscribe. But for a game already overrun with shady stuff happening to minors, paywalling this feature seems like a really bad idea.

They were THIS freaking close to fixing the problem and they had to let their greed get the better of them. This is downright Roblox moderation levels of Akham's Razor going on.
