VTuber Pikamee retires from streaming after trans pushback over Hogwarts Legacy

I don't even watch vtubers but I found out about Pikamee about 2 months before the troon shit. I watched her entire playthrough of GTA: San Andreas, I watched a lot of clips too then I got maybe 1/3 into her playthrough of Alan Wake before she was taken from me. This will have repercussions. Not today, not tomorrow, years or maybe decades will pass but eventually there will be a retaliation.

I've followed Pikamee since at least mid 2020. Relatable on not watching Vtubers but she connected with me on some primordial bird brain level.
There are a few things to be aware of.

She didn't leave just cause of the trans shit. It did make her get the F off the internet for a month because they were harassing her non stop. But she had already planned to quit before this. The gossip mill and some of her own membership only chats talked about how she really wanted to do some 3D stuff but because she didn't have IP control of the character she really couldn't without GYARI's say. And it was quite frustrating for her. So she had already been heavily planning this before the Hogwarts incident.


Pikamee definitely has a lot of stress issues and it did a number on her for sure. Was this the straw that broke the camels back? I'd say it was more like a brick but definitely played a big role. I think she'll be back as an indie streamer or with a different company where she has more IP control in the future. Even after exiting the contract there probably is a noncompete clause that is like a year's time. Hopefully she gets rested up and in a better metal state cause I know a lot of people want to see her return.


Now aside from all that fuck these psychotic warpath assholes that only care about the agenda and will destroy anything that is pure and kind because it doesn't give into their very demands. People treat online like its high school and the popular soulless cunts are the trans kids right now. I think we're reaching a normie tipping point finally or at least I hope I do now that Trans people are freaking out that Florida set the death sentence for child rape and they're upset by this claiming it directly effects them.

She's back!
Today is a very joyous day but I must admit I'm puzzled by her choice of joining Vshojo especially with vocal support of trannies by individuals like Apricot.
I imagine as I write this the twitter seethe has begun.

I really didn't think she was coming back.

Undeniable proof of the kettle's resurrection.
She's a genius dayo. I wonder what Clipchama is gonna do now? Mix in the Henya clips with the Pikamee ones? I guess it's not really a secret.

Pomu went back to clarify that it was like a few days to a week before Pikamee went dark because fuckheads on twitter were using her words as proof that this was all planned in advance. Pomu also has no reason to lie about any of it.

I can understand that view tho I don't think it's nearly as nefarious as that.

My rrat for this is that Kson had introduced Pikamee to whoever the hell it is in charge of Vshojo. They got a dialogue going and eventually started talking numbers. Gyari, who's just a guy who started a vtuber agency as an art project and lucked the hell out with talent and starting at the beginning of the shut down in 2020, cannot compete with a megalith like Vshojo. Pikamee talks to Pomu in January to say that she's thinking about leaving and either because of translation or legal issue she can't articulate what exactly she means leaving Pomu with the impression that she's hanging up her tights for good. The HL bullshit happens and for the first time Pikamee's facing real hostility and vitriol for something she didn't even do. HL isn't an excuse because there's no way that she could've planned for it. HL is the final straw. She says to herself "Fuck this shit I'm out" and checks out for a month. She has either decided to leave for Vshojo right before this or shortly there after. This would help explain why Gyari had all of her stuff removed from that convention thing. She comes back to make her graduation announcement and do a few streams before leaving as to not just abandon all those who supported her. She either gives it a few months to cool down or she has to wait for her art to get done.

Good on her for managing to stay in the same line of work, at least. Is she part of Vshojo EN, or Vshojo JP?
 
As a longtime viewer I think Gyari figured Pikamee had gotten too big for him and wanted her to move on since that what was best for her.

Gyari is just one guy and he did everything on the management side. He also works full time as a professional artist so he would be very strapped for time to begin with.

Gyari and Pikamee were also very good friends and infact Gyari knew Pikamee before Voms and originally only planned to debut her but was talked into debuting the others by Pikamee.

Watching Pikamee during her last month you could tell there was no animosity between so I doubt Gyari would do any legal fuckery to keep her from Vshojo so she could probably be processed quick.

Pikamee and Kson also get along very well which was likely a factor for Pikamee especially considering Kson probably acted as moral support to Pikamee during the HL drama. Pikamee mentioned being so afraid that she had to have her parents look after social media and she lost hair due to stress.

So fuck the Troons for claiming she is greedy, they still harassed and bullied a beloved streamer and they still will never be women.

Isn't V-shojo having troubles with their employees? I heard that like half of them where leaving due to poor contracts and lack of benefits for joining the group. Glad Pika could keep working in the same line of work. Hell, she probably could have gone independent after the silly wizard game controversy.

Actual contract terms are going to be unsubstantiated rumors at best to anyone on the outside looking in. That said, VShojo is somewhat inherently in a position where the monetary/asset-based benefits have to be less. They give their talent a huge degree of creative freedom compared to Holo/Niji. The talent I know of owns their character/art as well. If they leave VShojo it goes with them, they don't have to graduate to move. They may pay for specialty art or utilize their contacts, but that is a cost-center where other agencies would see investment.

If you value money over that freedom it's going to be hard for VShojo to offer enough in comparison to somewhere that keeps you on a tighter leash. The three that have left are huge names that have marketability down and don't really rely on the kind of freedom VShojo offers. Even if they somehow ended up with an agency owning their IP, they are big enough to do what KSON did. Parting ways amicably and staying professional about it is at least a good demonstration that VShojo's promises are not simply words. Pikamee going from just one guy to an American agency is going to open a lot of doors that being independent might not.
