I wish they made a game thats like WoWS but its not fucking gay and uses the damage modeling of WT Naval.

Does anyone else here dabble in Naval at all? Have your experiences been similar to mine? If anyone actually plays a lot of Naval, why? Do you enjoy the meta? Do you grind SL with the OP premiums?
I've dabbled, mostly US coastal, and I gotta say life there is pain. Its nothing but an unending succession of light, fast, easily-wrecked, wood-hulled PT boats that will struggle to hurt anything of size since their biggest gun is a 40mm. Compared to your posts, you won't even need to worry about repair juggling, mostly because once you're in that sort of "what do I do" spot you're already dead. I've got both PT-59 and ground out the battle pass PT-811, and even then you're just going to get out-shot by everything you face. Gaijin fucking hates giving the USA any actual firepower in coastal and it sucks. There's no reason we can't get a tech tree version of the Carmi. It wouldn't be quite so bad if those modeled radars on so many ships actually functioned, but alas...

Also, god forbid you use anything above 3.0 coastal boats, skr's and the russian turbo fuck fuck coastal boats will mess your day up completely.

Especially against the early destroyers having no chance against a competent player in an skr, let alone one with both skrs. The BR compression hurts naval way more than any others especially at the crossover between coastal and blue water.

Also the freccia and saetta are fun, but are so high br now to be practically unusable.

When I play coastal I use fast boats to rush in, maybe get a cap and maybe get some kills. If its an uptier with bluewater ships, or a bluewater match where I spawned an early coastal, I might even try and do a torpedo ambush. The latter strategy is often more effective than starting in a Destroyer.

However if I am really doing coastal on coastal action then the bread and butter of my operation is the HMCS Brantford, pictured here with its clandestine operations covert SUIS "camo" essentially disguising it as a merchant vessel.

It's big, and slow, but that makes it very hard for other coastal ships to kill. Meanwhile a hit with its main 102mm gun can one-shot small vessels and its 40mm and 20mm guns provide solid DPS. If anyone gets too close its got depth charges, plus it's very stable so shots are easy to aim. This guy got me through the HMS Renown grind and my service record reflects that when sorted by Naval Kills.

this is sure to ruffle some Russian main feathers if the F-14A IRIAF being added to the US tree didn’t already

I'm a Copestall man.
Every naval event I say to myself I will play the big boy boats. But as soon as the event starts I get ear ringing from my PG02's BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR cannon.
I genuinely enjoy coastals even outside of the broken PG02. It has the same retarded feel as low BR arcade of nothing but low IQ fun.
I do play Bluewater. Did some US DD. Really liked the Mitscher and ended up with a 5.0 line up around the Moffett.
I built a full premium line up for the IJN. Nenohi, Yugure and Yubari at 4.3. I was bullying noobs but having a CL in a bracket you can make it work was loads of fun. My apologies for getting the Yubari to 4.7.
I also have the Myoko but rarely take it out. I don't really know what I am doing with it but I do always do good in it. I just want to wait until I can pair it with 1/2 other ships instead of bleeding back ups.
I had the misfortune of playing the Le Triomphant. And that ship is absolute dogshit like all French ships. No freeboard, no negative space. It's 10 lbs of shit in a 5 lb bag. The enemy couldn't hit me without also destroying armament, machinery or outright detonating it.
Naval from my experience suffers from the same problems as GRB but with extra tedium. You can tell when you will lose a match with 20 minutes left on the clock. You know what moves to make in an attempt to win and if you will fail ahead of time. Being stuck in a shit match that takes half an hour is miserable. But on the other hand you can get some really good matches. Also the game bribes you, a premium tier 3-4 ship has the highest SL modifier in the game.
My biggest problem with naval is that the bots, Gaijin or Chink are programed to always target the closest ship. So the best thing to do to improve you survivability is to wait the 3 minutes for the auto spawn so you don't get shot at for nothing.

My main nation is Britain (before ground was big I wanted to fly Spitfires, after Ground got big I stuck with them because their stuff has cool names) and personally I think they should have the Australian Abrams instead of the USA and the Canadian Leo instead of Germany. Now that the Pajeet T-90 has been added we must collect them all like artifacts in a museum.

I was actually wishing I had it earlier because its a rank III so I could grind the event while playing France without having to worry about spawning a plane, but thats a moot point now.

per the devs the Indian T-90A goes to UK because it’s a designated subtree of the UK, while Canada and Australia are not, so those vehicles went to the original manufacturer nation

Yea but that's bullshit, at least for the Australians.

All the other Australian vehicles, the A.C.I, the A.C.IV, the Matilda Hedgehog, the Boomerang, the Wirraway, the Beaufort and Beaufighter, HMAS Tobruk, HMAS Arrow, and the Centurion Mk.5/1 are in the British tree.

take it up with the devs not me, but don't be surprised if the aussie boxer ends up in the german tree

If they argue historkiall akkuracy there was an "abandoned" T90 outside of Lousiana from the 27 M-R brigade.
It wound up thrown on the side of a road with the final destination for Aberdeen lmao. Supposedly the Ukranians gypped us Burger bros by stealing requisitioning the Shota-1 system, IBRS-K sight and the EMT-7

So I wonder if Gayjingles is desperate for money. I play "high tier" (8.0-10) and I keep getting these "Limited personal Offer" that end in 2 1/2 hours 9of high end premiums for "only 40% off". So instead of 11,868 for a 0.90 jet+tank I get instead of 17,290 (~$85.6) I get it for "only" 11,868 (~$58.75). Absolute lmao.

Worse still the reward is a top tier ship and, at least for me, the nature of top tier Naval is all of the worst parts of Naval turned up to 11.
I checked the stats on the Barham, it looks easily rackable by the usual suspects like Kronshtadts + ammo sits too close to the waterline so absolutely no one is missing out by not grinding this one. Even with it being configured for its late WW2 refit, armor schemas from WW1 never hold up ever since they're on the same BR as WW2 battlecruisers armed with imaginary stats and a dream. (unless you're a fucking Marat)
Bluewater is only good for exploiting stupid decisions like abusing the USS Cleveland/Fargo at 5.7 to shitstomp pubs before it got cast to 6.0 uptier hell. And coastal is pure, unadulterated agony for fresh meat 3.0 and up since you'll be scrouging for research points while being inevitably eviscerated by some ruskie boat fitted with a (several) nigger annihilator 9000(s). Naval may as well be a corpse considering you can count the number of regulars especially at top tier with your digits, absolute shame how they neglect the gamemode.

Same problem that the Renown has although in theory that can at least be fixed if they ever adjust the waterline to be accurate, idk if the Barham's waterline is also inaccurate, but I've only taken the Renown out a few times because of it. All the experienced Naval players already know where to shoot it.
so absolutely no one is missing out by not grinding this one
Agreed. Once I got past my desire to collect things and FOMO this was clear.

Like how they put 1000+% SL modifiers on premium destroyers. People can go brain-off and still rack up millions.

That's part of what makes ships like the HMCS Brantford so satisfying to play, its not easily killed by anything that relies on small caliber guns.
absolute shame how they neglect the gamemode.
Indeed. It's got so much potential being hampered by suboptimal execution, although part of the problem is that realistic Naval combat, especially between capital ships, isn't fun in the context of a ~30min match. That's why enduring confrontation is easily the best Naval combat mode for capital ships since you actually have time and distance to work with.

Normal Naval RB is better suited for Destroyers, which I do enjoy playing. Unfortunately the BRs that have the best Destroyers are dominated by the money printers like USS Frank Knoxx and USS Moffet which benefit from the historical reality that the American 5in/38 was by far the best naval gun of its size for that era. The rate of fire and turret maneuverability made it extremely versatile as a dual purpose (anti ship/anti air) power house and it stayed in service for many years after the War.

I have a theory it’s actually based on an earlier T-90A obtained by the US from Syria

I have tried repeatedly to get into bluewater but the learning curve keeps crushing me once I get out of the reserve and rank 1 ships.
I enjoy coastal up until sweatlord metaslaves are the only people in queue. I keep getting to around 4.0 and stop having fun.

The main problem I have with naval is the maps fucking blow ASS. Naval EC is pretty cool but the side and dynamic objectives don't feel like they actually do anything, which makes it just feel like another TDM match except on an appropriately large map.
Things like American ships spamming me to death I assume is a skill issue on my part so I won't complain about it here.

For once that's not a skill issue, those ships are genuinely OP, but that's the historically accurate reality of the 5in/38 gun. If you doubt it go play American Destroyers and see for yourself. I played with the one in the Japanese tree and it's night and day easier to do well in than destroyers with slower guns.

Do the americans have the Des Moines Class yet?

Yeah I've played Japan (because I like spamming torpedos in the Shimakaze, sue me) and I think its the Akizuki? I spaded that thing super fast.
I know I bring my suffering to myself because I'm a dirty hipster and refuse to play the Big 3, so I play Italian bluewater and then quit after I realize its too hard.
