Oh boy, I spent a LOT of hours in this game, yet only because there is no better alternative, the devs are greedy russkies and can't be bothered to stick their head out of their asses for atleast a second and listen to what community actually wants. When ground forces first came out it was a very fun change of pace from planes, with damage model not being broken by years of patching. It wasn't balanced, but it was fun.

What drives me away from the game nowadays is their focus on making every tank except some german \ soviet a paper target, that can be penned by everyone from everywhere. Tier 4-6? I sleep, germany just deploys 20 leo's and roflstomps anyone in sight. I used to have great fun with high-caliber-HE-only tanks, but they decided it was way too fun, so now you cant even kill BT-5 with KV-2 HE round in one shot (no joke).

Tier 2-3 mixed battles is where its at, not many OP tanks, pretty fair all around. Imo they should have never went with modern tanks, but they do they.

Yeah, the overt focus on modern kills it for me. I really wish it stopped at late WW2 prototypes....but nah, gotta keep chasing that ever increasing ceiling.

Haven't touched it since the battle pass started. For as much fun as the Jumbo 75 brings, I get too burned out to do any long term events.

there really are no better tank games right for PC right? I started playing War Thunder for the tanks and its better than wot. I Guess i'm not noticing any power creep because i'm still running tier 1 tanks. having fun in arcade ramming tanks and shooting at point blank (when i can).

Let me ask this: do the tanks get better if the crews are better? is the game really that bad at the higher tiers?

Crew level-ups add *slight* bonuses, but overall arent a big deal, The most you're gonna get it prolly a second or two off the reload.
The high-tier game is, well, more unforgiving. The weak spots get smaller and smaller, while some tanks enjoy the luxury of just shooting center of mass and penning everyone.

Check out Gunner, HEAT, PC! (thats a game), it looks pretty promising, though still in development.

"I have been sober for 1 month , i haven't even checked the devlogs for the newest update" *claps from across the room and the speaker starts tearing up* s-so brave
Eh, I do at least try to keep up with whatever new insanity Gaijin has decided to push. Helps keep me sober and smart.

I used to until I realized they really don't care about the WW2 segment. Now I just log on once in a blue moon, play a couple of Jumbo matches to see if it still works, then out for another month.

I never said I played. Its uninstalled for good at this point unless they actually fix the underlying issues they've created. Reading all their articles and forum posts is a practically daily reminder that they never will.

Yeah on that note, the forums are filled with pure autism and "git gud" fags (aka people who squad up and use bushes to pubstomp and appear good).

The tank crews do make a few tanks less painful to play, especially Russian or big gun tanks, shaving off plenty of reload time and helping you maneouver faster. In air battles you have to invest in vitality, stamina and g-tolerance to be even close to competitive. I'm about middle tier (6.7-7.7) and it's already a garbage experience, but I'd say even at low tier the American light tanks and the Chinese M8 need a br increase.

Yup. The only reason to play this game is because it has a monopoly on tank games. WoT is unrealistic, infantile shit. The newer games are modern-era only or are mixed infantry/tank games. The reason they fucked damage models was because of volumetric shells and hullbreak at high tiers being broken. It doesn't help that retards in the forums are opossed to any good suggestions from other people because "my winrate is better therefore Im right". Spookston got chased off because a few autists shat on him for not having amazing scores.

I've been maining China for a while and I'm playing a lot less, maybe a match every few days because of how terrible the experience is. Let me tell you, there's no joy in fighting with the worst of the Axis and Allies, I haven't had a single win in a long time.

Constant crashing, poor performance, terrible balance/tier system, horrible hitreg, and the shittiest matchmaking ever that puts you with lemmings. I don't know how a few of you Kiwis can stomach this shit. I might only come back because I actually quite like South African armored vehicles when Ixwa drops.

i only do tanks, playing sweden at
1- 2, germany 2-3.5. havent bothered to buy any of the 4.0 tanks.

im pretty happy at the light tank arcade level, its what i want in a tank game mechanic wise and the matches play to my tempo, quickly if i just want to roll around and brawl or longer if i want to strategize. I spend a lot time ramming into opfor and shooting pointe blank, doesnt work all the time but its fun.

for the crew thing, i paid to train the swedish crews in all their abilities and keen vision and its pretty great. 5s in keen vision lets me see most of the enemies in arcade before they see me. and the swedish tanks come with some of the important mods standard.

ive seen vids of the higher level tanks and it looks boring as shit, everything is slow and 1 hit kills.

as long as im in the galpan brs im having a blast.

Speaking of shells, for me the beginning of the end was the deMarre pen formula being implemented, and not just for shells with missing info as they originally claimed. The one thing that made US tanks tolerable, the ridiculous pen on HVAP, got taken out back and beaten to death with vodka bottles with the Russian APCBC shells still keeping their ridiculous slope normalization, allowing their guns to punch through vehicles with ease they would struggle with IRL.

Oh. I forgot AB exists, I only play RB. Yes, higher tier fights seem to be a fuckfest. To be fair though, you can still tank a few hits till 6.7. Sweden is a very viable low tier nation.

For real. That formula shafted a few low tier tanks including the French, and the Ha-Go has a retardedly low penetration for a L/46 cannon when the M5 in the M2A4 Light is just L/50. The game is the most unbearable thing to play and shouldn't be an e-sport, simply because of how many variables are out of your control. It's not a predictable game in any way anymore. The game used to be fun in my first two months playing, but I've been hitting constant losses since then, which I don't doubt are the work of the Russkies trying to jew you out of your money.

the only other tanks game i know of that arent wot clones are both sims, steel beasts, and il-2 tank crew , if you wanna go old school go for steel armor or t-34 vs tiger tank, but all of these are sims.
There is a game coming late next year called tank squad that might be cool but its from a dev team that has only made atank mechanic simulator so I won't get excited.

I still remember how long it took them to fix the Jumbo's front armor. Yet some people thought it was totally fine that Russian 85mm could slice right through it.

Game was also way better before automatic bounce chance.

They did? Because as far as I can tell the 85mm APHEBC shit they have still cuts clean through both it and the Panther at typical WT combat ranges. Meanwhile the US 90mm T33 shell that could punch though a Panther's UFP at 900 yards is left to rot.

Eh, only time I have problems with the 85mm is if it's literally point blank and they get a bit of a downward shot. Or the stupidly modeled MG port. OTOH, taking out IS-1s through cupola shots is fun to do when they get close and feel invincible.

*edit* Unless ofc they broke something in the past 2 months. That's almost always guaranteed.

Eh. its a recurring issue, especially with the over-BR'd Jumbo. That 85mm APHEBC, the BR-365A, has special angling modifiers that will go clean through you if you're unlucky enough to take any sort of semi-flat hit thanks to the absurd slope normalization only the Russian APHEBC shells get. Meanwhile US HVAP rounds that were designed more along the lines of APCBC shells instead of the Eurotrash arrowheads get slapped with the same "fuck you" they get against any sort of angling. And yeah, that's not getting into the T33 APC shell being heat-treated in the fires of Mount Doom, and only there could it be unmade. It sucks to be the USA since by the time you get something better than the 76mm gun you're still facing tanks with more armor and bigger guns. Goddamn whiny Germans complaining about how aiming is hard for them but easy for everyone else and driving like brain-dead retards expecting Kruppstahl to be invincible.

Remember, GeRmanY SufFerS!

Back when US first came out, I remember how much of a godsend the M26 was. Murdered so many King Tigers in cities because they just go running about like they're impervious. M82 to the side armor was a beautiful sight.

But yeah, pretty much if a KT can be taken out by anything from the front then the whine fest starts. Those early T29 days were a lot of fun, but no, it has to be 7.0 because god forbid it can take out a KT.
