Per the latest stats (Archive, but it's janky), Lavos is fairly unpopular, but Xaku is on the popular side, especially at higher MRs - at 3% of the MR32 usage, it beat a fair number of Primes, although none of the truly popular ones, as you might expect from an AFK-friendly 'Frame that is also a pain to farm. Not sure if that's "save it for the holidays" popular numbers, but it's definitely on the anticipated side, especially since I think everything ahead of Xaku at high MR is already Primed.
Prepare for Xaku to cause troon anguish whenever the release ends up being, due to the strict male-male-female-female Prime release order.
I think Xaku's lack of popularity is because you need to run Deimos Bounties. Then you need to get a bunch of resources from all over the Starchart including Breath Of The Eidolon from Cetus Bounties, Gyromag Systems from Heist bounties, and fucking Scintillant from the Iso Vaults and I'm not surprised that Xaku is rarely played. Once the Prime rolls around, it should be far more accessible and likely not require such retarded resources to craft. Frankly, I think people are sleeping on Xaku because I can do just about everything with them.

I have a weird feeling that they skipped Xaku and Lavos so they could spread out the "good weapons." It would be kinda crazy if they dropped pEpitaph and pCedo right after each other. They might also be trying to have an "endgame" frame like Xaku be in rotation for the influx of players for 1999 release. I am kinda bummed they switched the order though because Lavos is my favorite.
Xaku is the opposite of an endgame frame, he sucks at everything that isn't low level afk farming/speedrunning.

Speaking of Warframes that are a pain to craft, look no further than Equinox. The regular version is just suffering to make because it requires 2 whole sets of warframes just to get it built. Which takes forever in both construction and grinding for. So its not uncommon to just get the Prime version and call it a day.

I know DE is trying to streamline the suffering that is early Warframe experience, but there is still much work to be done. As there's lots of newb traps in early Warframe.

DE just leaked a future prime. :story:

Skill issue. I've done plenty of runs with Xaku in plenty of different missions and I can tell you that they are a very powerful frame. I've gone as far as doing Netracells and level cap Circuit with them.
Whispers is a great ability. Grasp will eventually outscale the enemy's health increase.
Accuse is one of the few usable infighting abilities that are actually useful, going so far as to completely turn off all enemies in Circuit Excavation. Gaze is a massive armor strip that you can place wherever. Deny does a lot more damage than on the tin since it scales with your Grasp count. PROTIP: If you Accuse a mob before Gazing them, you basically have an unkillable aggro puppet.
Untime is basically my shieldgate ability since it gives you PD2 style dodge that works really well with shieldgating and the slow+damage vulnerability makes it great. The ability pause on everything else is just the icing that makes them more energy efficient than you think.

The biggest roadblock for newbies is the relic of a mod menu. Aside from being a massive pain in the ass with needing to be navigated horizontally than vertically, it's just overwhelming. It's basically just dumping an armful of three different puzzle sets onto the floor and walking away while saying "good luck".

...Along with the many combinations of mods and its sheer volume is also one of the reasons why Warframe is such an autist magnet... and ultimately a deterrent for the casual and the games journalist. That said, an option to move the mod menu vertically should be an option. Plenty of quality of life stuff needs to be added as well. And in this Tennocon, it took them years to add a favorites option... which is embarrassing because other games, even gachas figured that out from day 1. To their credit, the option to search by text has been very useful.

As for the Akmagnus Prime, I was right to build two Magnus primes in the first place... and not potato either of em. Akimbo or bust!

Will grasp actually outscale enemies? The only ability I've ever seen outscale enemies is vaubans fletchette orb because it does slash damage, but xaku does void. How much strength do you have and how do you balance it vs nessesary range and duration to make the rest of his kit function?

I feel like a full fledged rework to the screen is the best idea for no other reason than it would allow them to add the ability to slowly introduce elements as they become relevant. Stuff like Ayatan slotting once you actually acquire one and waiting a week to introduce Dissolving/Transmuting so the player doesn't accidentally sell their first Intensify.
I posted a few months ago but my Xbox build slaps. He’s my goto frame for harder content, totally worth an umbra but you can probably get away without using one.
Figure I'd drop my builds. Keep in mind, I use two Ambers on Casting Speed and three Tau Crimsons on Strength. I also have an Omni polarity on my Aura slot (don't do this until you get prime or just have one lying around).
Will need to build up the 250 for Augmeneted.

Doesn't need to build up, however it does

Basically a max range build/efficency build to spam 4.

Like I said, shieldgating with Xaku is a lot more practical with his dodge. But if you want a health tank build that slots into my other builds, than you can use this.

You'll need to add an extra Naramon (dash) polarity over where Fleeting is, but it will allow you to use all my previous builds. If you do that, just swap out Steel Charge with whatever you want. Will need to build up the 250 for Augmeneted.

The basic thing to know is that Grasp scales linearly with enemy level while health values will eventually start to plateau.

You're telling me xaku's 2 can 1v1 endless endurance steel path enemies with 160 strength?
When it comes to endless missions, I will use my Endurance build which eventually hits 200% for full armor strip. But to answer your question, my 160% non-endurance build is what I take into solo Netracells and allows me to do the mission quite comfortably. One thing that massively helps is that you can Accuse>Gaze a target to have a invincible aggro dummy to take a large amount of the fire of yourself. Hell, it's so effective that I sometimes forget to refresh my 4 that I usually use to shieldgate. Yeah, I can go into a solo Netracell mission and not need to refresh my shieldgate for almost a half minute. Also, Grasp staggerlocking mobs is also a bonus.

I can vouch for Xaku's effectiveness in high-level content. I have a max range build that swaps out Xaku's 1 for Breach Surge, and it's carried my team during EDAs twice already (for reference, Xaku was one of the selected frames for loadout modifiers).

Xaku's a lot like Octavia in that he's absolutely fucking busted but so many people find him boring that he's probably never getting nerfed.
Relentless Lost fully stacked (minimum 95% Strength) gives you a 33.6 meter (at max range) 100% armor strip that ignores Line of Sight checks, that you can place 2 of.
Most importantly, Vampiric Grasp lets me tab out and AFK when I'm forced to play a fucking Mobile Defense.

Amazing how they've turned 1999 mall into an ad-hoc nightclub with all these Heirloom Embers. Room 69 seems the be the most busy too. Can't wait for 1999 to be playable and watch as people turn the mall into their own fashion show ala PSO2.

There were even people goofing around in the Argon Burger as employees. Assuming we'll be invisible to the rest of the Hex barring Eleanor at release, I can only imagine the hysterics.

Also, they moved The Duviri Paradox to the Uranus junction.
