I feel bamboozled, I thought we would have gotten a new Zariman tileset or gamemode but Narin is just an additional reward on the Zariman drop tables.

This is so fucking targeted at Hildryn, fuck you. Also, no pets except for Khora. This is going to be a fucking nightmare without Vacuum.

You're also required to pick a rolled Warframe if you want the loot people care about.

The math confused me at first, so if you're like me, here's the breakdown on what changed:

Previously:

  • Warframe: 1pt x 3 missions = 3pt total
  • Weapon Selection: 1pt each x 3 slots x 3 missions = 9pt total
  • Modifiers: 1pt each x 4 slots x 3 missions = 12pt total
  • Clearing all missions in Elite: 13pt total
  • Total Possible: 37
  • Target Points: 34 for the legendary pool, 37 if you want the vosfor (meh) or pixchips (yes!)
That meant you could ignore the 3pt total for a warframe and still get the max desireable award on EDA, but if you wanted the pixchips from ETA you needed to run all the modifiers.

Now:

  • Warframe: 3pt x 3 missions = 9pt total
  • Weapon Selection: 1pt each x 3 slots x 3 missions = 9pt total
  • Modifiers: 1pt each x 4 slots x 3 missions = 12pt total
  • Clearing all missions in Elite: 13pt total
  • Total Possible: 43
  • Target Points: 37 (EDA) / 40 (ETA)
Downside of the change: Now you lose 9pt total for running a different warframe, dropping you to 34pt and missing the legendary reward pool (and the extra pixchips on ETA).

Upside of the change: Assuming you can make 1 of the 3 warframes from your pool work, you can ignore 1 personal modifier or weapon choice on ETA and 2 on EDA without missing meaningful rewards.

The relative value of that top end reward on ETA vs EDA (pixchips vs vosfor) meant that previously you weren't missing much by just running whatever frame you wanted on EDA. That's dead now - you miss the legendary pool on both modes for chosing a "wrong" frame.

On the other hand, you can now run a "wrong" weapon on either mode without missing out on anything, hence a lot of comments saying the mode is just going to be Torid instagib now.

It does seem like a pretty narrowly focused swing at Hildryn... like they got so much tunnel vision on "fixing" exactly one balance point that they probably made the overall mode less interesting from a build diversity and challenge perspective. Dante, Kullervo, Rhino, Inaros, Nidus, any frame with some healing and enough blue shards, etc. are now just going to walk through it with whatever meta weapon they want, and I'm not sure that'll feel meaningfully better than frequently seeing a Hildryn in your lobby.
They did nothing to fix the issue of why everyone played Hildryn and then made the gamemode fucking worse for everyone who did play. gg go next

So, DE had a puzzle contest that was literally impossible for anyone who grinds out their Warframes instead of buying them with platinum/money. This is actually fucking disgusting, to me; someone who spent money on the game literally has their name etched in Warframe lore forever. I'm not going to throw shade on the one to crossed the finish line since I doubt even they had any idea what would happen. No, this is DE not telling the playerbase about this puzzle, making a community effort reward the first person to scramble forward, and not giving enough time for anyone who doesn't swipe their credit card. I don't know if I want to play Warframe anymore.

I think DE has totally lost it with this one. You watch Earth spin around and it looks like a huge fucking deal only for it to be a hub for a mode that doesn't even exist yet. Here's this weird mountain, ice thing, whatever! Oh, you can't do shit here BTW besides fast travel to the Zariman. How to get Narin, you ask? Read the wiki. The information-dense game would rather fill your inbox with the same repeating cutscene of your Drifter awkwardly kissing a Protoframe (LOL) and doxxxxing the username of whoever swiped their CC first to get Narin to solve a puzzle nobody knew about than tell you what the fuck is going on with the new frame. There's probably thousands of players right now convinced they have to farm the new Eximus units to get the currency to buy the parts for her.

Their best people better be working on Tau because another few updates like this might seriously kill the game.

What a rough year so far. Follie was a bad update, but its fine. They tried something new, it didnt pan out, oh well. Jade shadows 2, quest starts in media res but never explains how it started, just like all recent quests. The quest turns out to be simultaneously stuffed with too many plot threads AND too short to delve into any of it. End result is a totally mangled story that wastes a lot of interesting ideas that we probably wont get to revisit in the inevitable 3rd jade shadows, since those ideas have already been explored. Also they nuked the 3rd orb for good measure, because fuck you. The missions are fine I guess, but nothing fucking works for the first month. On launch, you couldnt even extract from the missions properly, thats how bad it was. 2 stinkers in a row, a bad run we havent seen in a while. Narin update ships without the new game mode, which means we have a main update with nothing new to play. What the absolute FUCK is going on over there? They should have just cancelled this whole year of updates and moved tau to halloween, with nothing inbetween that and old peace. Thats a long stretch with nothing, but its all sucked anyway so who cares. I wonder what happens if tau flops too.

Yeah, I was really hoping Melica's labs would be their own gamemode, but nope! Just an extra tile with barely-audible dialogue from Melica's terminals.
They could have easily had a gamemode called Research where you run samples between terminals within Melica's labs. Make it sort of a mix of Interception and Alchemy where you have to defend terminals as they get analysed before moving them to the next terminal; being able to defend and move more samples at once would allow you progress the mission faster. The fact I came up with this idea about 10 seconds after seeing your comment should tell you how completely washed DE is right now.
There's probably thousands of players right now convinced they have to farm the new Eximus units to get the currency to buy the parts for her.
Given the fucking drop rates of blueprints, you might as well just buy the parts outright.

Void Cascade is the only Zariman-exclusive mode I actually like especially for Omnia fissures since it can be done only slightly slower than Interceptions and you get a fuck-ton of Arcanes. It does get testy if it's a bounty that wants you to wake a Void Angel because your public lobby monkeys don't understand that it only takes one or two frames that deal damage to take care of the Angel while everyone keeps the contamination level low. Void Cascade does require you to do the agonizing Fortuna farm for an amp, tho (and maybe even Cetus depending on your amp setup). I can only tolerate Void Flood on Duviri runs really.

I can't be bothered to farm Narin since she's always gonna be on the drop pool from here on out anyway.

So, if the AI generated jacket wasn't enough, someone at DE is using GenAI for promotional art.

In drama news: Warframe content creator Pupsker made a video talking about another creator, Brozime, being a bitch. Short story even shorter, Pupsker was in the middle of setting up his Twitch channel for reruns and hadn't yet turned off Twitch drops (which is a manual toggle). During this very brief window, Brozime started shit talking Pupsker who ended up being on the receiving end of vitriol.
Screengrab from someone else before Fatzime deleted it like a bitch.

Fatzime proceeds to demand evidence of not breaking his weird ass rule:

Fatzime proceeds to claim it was all a "misunderstanding" as the result of "unfortunate timing". The word "sorry" is not said anywhere.

Is the Game fun again?
The core gameplay loop of buildcrafting and moment-to-moment combat is pretty fun, but some of the design choices can make you pull your hair out at times. Overall, it's a power fantasy hoard shooter with a lot of "whoa, that's cool" moments. DE also has a bit of an issue with not properly explaining mechanics fully/properly.

It pains me to say but the updates have been predominantly solid ever since Reb took over as creative director. Much more focused on (at least tangentially) making new content related to other, already existing, gamemodes instead of making entirely separate content islands.

Also LMAO at Nechramechs being super extra dead after the Narin update. You know it's fucked when they even take away your ability to buy slots for them. Truly the most Nothing content in the game.

Unironically Trve and anyone who disagrees has never played a raid in any game ever. If the objective requires communication then you should be forced to communicate to engage with it otherwise its gonna be filled with mute gorilla niggers that expect to be carried without wanting to put in any of the effort or even talk.

This goes fucking quintuple for warframe's fanbase that has cultivated the most entitled retards across all of gaming that are mindbroken into believing that an enemy surviving eye contact for more than 0.1 seconds with them is a transgression of their gamer rights.

They already ruined railjack don't let them ruin another thing.

That's a bit like asking what vehicle someone should recommend. Obviously, each Warframe and weapon has its place and uses. I could be a smart ass and just say "Rhino" (the Honda Civic of Warframe) and be done with it, but I'll give a rundown of some of the ones I use the most and why.

I couldn't reply to your whole post, but I like a playstyle where I dash into a room, kill everything with weapons with high fire rates, and dash out. In terms of Warframes themselves, do you know of any that have AOE damage abilities or abilities that buff the player significantly?

Mesa. Dash in a room, pop your 4, light everything up, unpop your 4 and dash into the next room. Augment mod gives her limited mobility when using her 4 which pairs nicely with Rolling Guard, making her effectively immortal when used with her 3.

Just like @Spergichu said with Mesa.

However, If you wish buff yourself with AOE weapons or any weapons in general? Then I highly recommend Wisp, yes she's is a support frame and the farm is pure ass, but her 1 (Reservoirs) will Increase Vitality, deal Electricity damage to enemies, but most importantly can increase movement speed and fire rate. (including melee)

Granted this depends on your weapon build/what mods you currently have, but it is nice to having an already good fire rate weapon and making it even FASTER.

I also recommend you to have an Augment mod (Fused Reservoir) a QOL mod.

Breach Surge is also good (if you know what your doing)

There's also Saryn, but her 1 (Spores) does DOT, so she can kill everyone it just takes time.

To add, throw on a yellow archon shard for extra parkour velocity. It'll allow you to roll faster/farther making repositioning easier, it's also just really fun to zip around with them.
