Kinda off-topic but I love this:

Re: Da Warhammer shit

i have loved the warhammer franchise (both 40k and fantasy) since I was 4 years old, and in fact that miniature at the start of the thread was one of the very first pieces I gamed with (my dad bought a starter pack with bretonnians and lizardmen to teach me how to play) though I havent done any models for it since I was about 11, and it has prepared my fiction-palate for endless feasts of grimdark, lovecraftian awesome that i continue to enjoy.

Personally I think the setting(s) need a shittonne more love from game companies given how awesome games like dawn of war and SPESSSS MEHREEEN have turned out.

Also... I think I am the only man alive who actually liked the "Mark of Chaos" RTS game that everyone else seemed to despise.

I need to finish painting my figures still. I've got Khorne stuff and chaos marines

No fantasy stuff? (you got to atleast have some Warriors of Chaos models, i mean look at this shit!)

fucking amazing model

Shit like this makes me pine for the days when warhammer was cheap (or at the very least, when my dad still had his home-made model moulds to mass produce vast numbers of the old metal models and save us a heap of cash in funding our armies)

The worst part is this model got the Fine(fail)cast treatment. A shitty plastic resin that supposedly better than metal but GW so cheap that their old and worn out molds weren't meant to be mold resin so their covered in fucking carcinogen bubbles and ruin the model, and it has a shit ton of more flash (thin lines on near the mold line, a byproduct of casting) which need to be cleaned off (:_(

I've got Abbadon, a war rhino and I forget what else. It's been probably 15 years since I last played :S

have you ever considered trying fantasy? You should try out Warriors of Chaos. They're like CSM but a million times more bad-ass (one reason being they are mother fucking chaos worshipping vikings which automatically makes them better in every way) and unlike in 40k, daemons are actually scared shitless of their mortal followers.

That being said, they are cheapest(money-wise) army to collect do to their low model count (because of their average points cost you wont field many of them), you can buy all the models you need for a 2000 points game (which is the average level game) for under 200 american dollars.

I'll stick to Pathfinder, don't have time for painting shit.

It depends on the army you get, some armies don't need a lot of models to be painted or some armies are very easy to paint, or both, and others are the exact opposite

Re: Da Warhammer shit

Money is part of the reason I stopped playing 40k, that and I no longer live with my 2 friends who got me into it.
I was, however, inspired to root around my bookshelf and find my chaos codex.
Now I just gotta buy some paints and dice and I'm all set!

P.S. Chris would Slaanesh cuz of the boobies

Is 40k more popular than Fantasy in Canada, like it is in the States?

If your thinking of getting back into 40k you should definitely get the Dark Vengeance starter set, its got CSM and Dark Angels (which you can convert and paint to CSM colors) and your get everything u need to start playing: the rulebook, dice, templates, and markers.

I made a thread about "if CWC was into 40k". He would definitely be a slaanesh lover or he would jump on the Spesh Mahreens bandwagon like every other 12-y/o boy (which is his mentality) and paint them in sonichu colors :medallion: . He would probably hate Nurgle cause he has the most in common with the lord of decay :briefs:

Re: Da Warhammer shit

Ok, so I am thinking of picking up the 40k Dark Vengeance set, anything else I need to go with it?

Re: Da Warhammer shit

No real.preferences, i just like the idea of a set that lets me play out of the box. I can decide from there.

well you should buy one of the codexs before you buy anything else (itll save you a lot of money). But if you like CSM thats probably the best army to start in this edition: they got a good codex, they're noob friendly, cool models, easy to paint, lots of conversion opportunities, their starter kit has em and you can paint and convert the dark angel models into CSM if you want.

So i would definitely recommend getting the CSM codex first before you buy anything else, and if you like what you see, get the box set.
