Don't know. Damn near everything I hear about playing games in the UK seems like a dumpster fire one way or another(not just from your posts).

It could be me and my location.

I live in a city that you guys likely wouldn't have heard of. A US example might be Rochelle or Lakeland. Point is, it's big enough to have core features, but not big enough to sustain niche interests. So there is a GW "warhammer" shop, but there's no real FLGS. The next city over does have FLGS but GW and FLGS don't allow games to be played any more. Clubs have been a problem as well, being overpriced, insular, and sometimes political. What's more, finding said clubs has been difficult, as online listing are often for clubs that no longer exist. I've been told to "just use facebook", but I don't have facebook.

And yes. I got into the game end of second edition. Third edition was my jam, but I faded out of the hobby. I came back around 5th (Dawn of War Dark Crusade was big at the time) the mood had changed. No one wanted to play, and instead were more interested in theory crafting. I ended up with two boxed armies (Tau and Space Marines) and neither force saw tabletop.



Since I'm on the subject. I might as well clarify. The inconsistent complaints and praise bother me because the issues I have with the hobby don't seem to be issues other people have?

Me and a RL hobby acquaintance think that GW is overpriced, So it's strange to go online and find people praising, say, a Combat Patrol as fantastic value.

And yet, things I don't really care about send people into a mouth frothing rage that seems to go beyond good natured jokes. Like, it's one thing to mock the dumb looking Space Marine ATV. It's another to break into a 50 minute video rant about how Primaris are the worst thing ever and everyone should boycott GW.

Tried to watch that. Didn't get far. Basically an "anti-woke" (read, non-political) reddit warhammer community had all of it mods and even the creator purged and replaced. That seems to be pretty much it.

I've heard of a theory that the Rangdan were humans who achieved utopia and they had to be purged to stop the truth getting out. Interesting idea, but kind of lame and not one I buy personally.


The crusade release happened? If it did, it seemed to get lost in the shuffle. Nothing special in terms of campaign rules, but the inclusion of Stargrave style NPC monsters running around sounds fun.

Also, there are pics of the Stargrave Automatons sprue. If you don't know those, basically third party servitors. Also saw one person say they'd make good admech "zombies". I assume they mean servitors.

With regards to the nature of the two lost legions, given that there are a suspicious number of chapters either of unknown stock or "Ultramarine" (or "Imperial Fist") descent that have either...

With regards to the Rangdan shit, it was mentioned that the Legions/Primarchs were lost in separate events despite both having vanished around about these wars, so my guess is that during first contact one of the Primarchs wound up compromised by the Rangdan (who are mentioned as having been allied closely with the Slaugth, who along with their explicit brainfucking speciality were alluded to having brainwashed and enslaved a Primarch as their own weapon by one of the contradictory origin stories of Alpharius/Omegron) to the point of openly fighting against the Imperium and his own Legion for them, even if against his will, which resulted in a good number of his Legion turning traitor at his behest. Because of this along with how scary powerful this enemy faction was, the Emperor was freaked out enough to (among other things) brainblast him on the spot and pull some hard coded psychic memory modification en-masse to every survivor involved in cleanup who was too valuable to be given the Thunder Warrior treatment (i.e. the other Primarchs and those in their retinue they vouched for and the Mechanicus tard wranglers for the Void Dragon megashard he busted out of witness protection to fight) with the loyal marines of this legion also being mindwiped and sent to live with either Uncle Roboute or Uncle Rogal.

This accounts for Lost Primarch Numbah One. For Lost Primarch Numbah Two, my subsequent guess is they took the whole IRL retcon thing of their homie, who was now residing in the black cells on Terra as the planet's largest vegetable, really fucking bad, especially if this nigga was of the previously speculated backup psyker legion which meant either he resisted it or the process accidentally drove him batshit crazy. So he and his legion went AWOL trying to find shit to fix him, my guess from the Necrons (its mentioned one of the lost Primarchs found what would later be identified as an OP Necron construct), which caused an already grumpy Emperor to decide to nip this shit in the bud fast and hard before this dumbass woke up the Tomb Worlds early, and after apprehending him and realising a second brainwash would probably kill him and that he was overtly planning rebellion, decided to throw his ass in a tesseract vault lying around whatever Tomb World he was found on and then dumped it in a cell right next to his brother. His marines would likewise be split up, memory wiped, and divided between the Ultramarines and Imperial Fists.

Stargrave Automatons are the shit. I've bought a couple of sets of those for Necromunda conversions and they're highly recommended. Even if its just to have a sprue in your bits box to knock up a servitor. They've not quite got the utility of Neophyte Hybrids for making random human NPCs, but they're not far off.

The problem with all of these spin-offs for 30K/40K is that they often devolve into what my friends and I call Trench Crusade Syndrome. They go from great ideas, first draft of rules then it goes where all good ideas go to die, Discord, and gets reduced to people just posting their kitbashes. You might see the odd painted mini if you're lucky, but thats as far as it goes.

Look at Unity Before Heresy the site has been as dead as The Old World since 2021. Everything has migrated to Discord. Way to get traction for your project. These are the same kind of niggers that will complain about gatekeeping.

Could be. Something else I've noticed about some(not all) brits is that they seem unwilling to just drive more than a few minutes without acting as if it's some kind of epic journey. You mention a GW store and FLGS in the next town over yet Nottingham is so centralized that at a glance it seems like half of the country is within a 90 minute drive of it. I know a handful of people at one of my local stores here in the US that spend 45 minutes driving 6 towns over from the next county like it's nothing. Practically every store in the area has a discord server and as gay as that normally is, they're pretty much exclusively used for shit that a store would post to FB, and people to show off paint jobs, discuss scheduling meetups for games, and that's about it(no politics or any of the other bullshit).

90% of the customer base has barely looked at another wargame, let alone actually compared prices and model quality, or even considered how much molds and materials cost to understand how much GW gets away with charging on a per model basis and how ridiculous it gets for characters and shit. Those people are also under the impression that recasters will steal their credit card information, ship them models infused with radioactive isotopes to give them cancer aids, explode on the table, etc.(they aren't hard to find, just need to look around, it's also best to avoid publicly naming any of them to keep GW from taking down domains, talking to payment processors, etc.). Probably the best example of people waking up to this shit was over the course of the past 6-12 months as a bunch of british youtube people(normally 40k channels) picked up gunpla(because Bandai apparently started a big push into the market) and realized they can get a fully articulated $35 kit the size of a large knight that GW would charge $150 for made out of the same plastic(I've seen people try to use an argument that it's not a valid comparison because gunpla aren't designed as game pieces... ok so glue them together using the same plastic cement you use on GW models and lock the joints with superglue once you've posed it dumbass).

If you've got friends who are into it, just do what we do - hire somewhere. Theres a village hall a stone's throw away from where I live that a bunch of us hire out every now and again, usually every other month. They're grateful for the business and its putting something back into the community. If you pay a little extra they'll open the bar too. The guys that live out of the area will sleep over at someone elses' place so they can have a pint or two, plus its an incentive for them to drive further than they normally would for this kind of thing. You don't have to worry about tables (those kind of places usually have them to spare, and this place is no exception), you don't have to worry about fuckwits (well, not random ones anyway) and you don't have a store owner looking over your shoulder all of the time. If everyone chips in its a lot cheaper than you might think. It doesn't take a lot of work to put something like this together and the exclusivity is fucking bliss tbh.

The two lost primarchs being tossed in the black cells would be interesting, given a big thing of the new Custodes lore is the Black Cells were all emptied out after the great rift opened. Chaos just warped ALL of that shit out when reality was busy with it's new negative space wedgie, and each and every cell contained either a technology, monster, or secret, that "would destroy the imperium if it were made public." There's a full 20% of the Custodes just running their assess off trying to find it all and recapture it before the Imperium at large finds out.

It's widely speculated the Rangdan may still exist, in sparse and disparate pockets sure but they probably aren't as wiped out as the Imperium would like to believe. My personal theory is that they're still out there, biding their time and perhaps forming covert alliances. What they are, who knows. Perhaps they were a branch of humanity that were evolved to be considered mutants but they had a utopian society with principles that threatened the Imperial Truth?

In regard to the missing Primarchs I think it's likely either one or both are in those Black Cells-- or rather were, considering what happened with the Cicatrix Maledictum.

Two Primarchs that were "unjustly" locked up by the Emperor, who then went mindfuck mcgee on every one of his loyal sons to cover it up would cause another heresy. The Emperor using the void dragon would violate the compact between the Imperium and the AdMech.

The remaining loyal marines would be split down the damned middle and the forge worlds would be in open revolt.

I for one would love to see the consequences of these revelations. As we all know the Imperium is really really good at covering up its own shitshows, so it might take some time or a really determined leaker or a full blown incident, but I'd still love to see it.

So what I'm gathering skimming through this, is they brainstormed some generic bullshit and then farmed the art out to their fanbase? Because there's no coherent design between any of the art he shows off other than military green on things.
