this would seem like a retarded question(it is) but now with the new uk laws, would that affect Warhammer in some sort of way?
Games Workshop would have already released some kind of statement if that was the case. The MP/ Police protection act only applies to social media and video sharing platforms at the moment.

What, the whole showing ID to prove you're over 18 thing? Other than maybe for random discord servers or reddit, not likely. 40k itself is marketed as 12+, FW resin models are 15+. Warcom doesn't post any content that could really be considered for adults, same with their IG and youtube accounts and there's the Warhammer Alliance thing they specifically market to teachers to have kids participate with in school
Warhammer can be a great creative outlet that can support the curriculum in any educational setting. Our programme supports young people aged 12+ with various skills, including Literacy, art and design, and STEM.

It's always been marketed towards kids(even with plushies and books recently, but regardless of that young boys from upper middle class neighborhoods have ALWAYS been a target audience whether people want to admit that or not), and there's even more obvious pushes like getting teachers to give kids a hit of plastic crack for free.

Now the random reddits and discord servers with NSFW chats and people in general posting degenerate shit might run into an issue, but that'll be something they brought on themselves(even the main trench crusade reddit finally quarantined the coomers into a separate sub after attempting to restrict them to 1 day a week didn't work). But none of GW's official social media has any of that crap.

edit: Even most of the slaanesh stuff is "cleaned up" compared to what it used to be, with daemonettes not showing any nipples. I think the only thing currently even for sale with nipples is the slaanesh fiends that they don't even sell at retail anymore and that's arguably more like teets and Vect's model has been out of production for so long it doesn't even have rules as legends(had rules in 5th, was gone in 7th).

Huh, maybe with those degenerates TC will just end up transforming into a normal wannabe 40K instead of the “abandon all hope ye who enter here” horror of a community it is now.

Good morning, have you heard the good word of the Four Armed Emperor?
Studies show that the more arms you perceive the Emperor to have, the better you work in a group and the higher your overall sense of well being on a day to day basis.

I have some phamplets if you'd be interested. Ignore any itching you might feel at the base of your hippocampus, that's normal.

Nah, there's so much else wrong with the community it doesn't matter if the coomers get booted. As much as I mentioned previously that I personally don't like OPR I've actually kind of cheered the fact that the scene for it is slowly growing. Even if it's not my thing, the community itself is mostly fine except for the evangelists in it. Most of TC's community is a fucking dumpster fire bickering with itself over the dumbest shit(like being surprised that when the lore says that demons come from jerusalem, that it means a large part of the middle east is a demonic hellhole because they couldn't picture that in their brains till there was an official map. Or that when christians open a gate to christian hell, it's got an abrahamic religion focus with no regard for the rest of the planet. etc.)

I was aware of TC purely because of the size of that fire. Discord ablaze with people declaring half the fanbase nazis. Same implosion from Fallout: Frontier with "why would any GOOD person wanna play as the enclave or the Legion"
The retards just cannot accept fiction without imagining themselves as the main character(which is why the same retards whine and complain when the main character isn't some overweight blob of a human with a handful of disabilities). Lack of imagination maybe?

I don’t care what GW says, I will continue to bolt people onto the side of my tanks. It’s literally the religion of the Third. Disparaging my right to make heinous shit that will throw off my opponent while the Bluetooth speakers in the tanks play 2000s pop?

That’s a hate crime.

Genestealers are great, they’re Chaos without the comedy, just pure eldritch horror.

Not like the goofy chaos cultists who go their entire life preparing for the moment. Then the second their uprising gets reinforced by “their” star gods, that guy gets used as a stress ball by a grumpy legionary.

See Vraks when the DG just stomped in and wordlessly looted the armory.

complete with creepy crawly psyker xeno sex producing halfbreed super babies

Have you played the first Rogue Trader DLC? I have no frame of reference for how they're written in books, but I thoroughly enjoyed everything regarding the cult proliferating on my ship and the Cult of the Bloodspun Web.
Oh, they were great.
The difference between the books and the game is very little can actually be done if a cult has already grown to such an extent. And if you don't kill them all or one of the exterminators gets the succ, it'll start all over again somewhere else.

Heinrix and the other companions' reaction to the genestealer encounter jn the base game is some of its best writing. Dude is more scared of that infested ship than facing down chaos marines for good reason.

Might be the only time where you're explicitly told to run you really feel hurried in a turn based game which is probably a first for me

The presentation is great. Entrance is closed, your psychic and warp-seeing companions are freaking out, some weird cultist is telling you how fucked you are, and you can't contact reinforcements. It's almost a shame how easy the encounter is. If there were an entire wave of genestealers coming for you that could make you drop like that one ambusher boss, it'd make the experience perfect.

Of course, a pyromancer dogmatic blaster psyker would absolutely annihilate that encounter but it annihilates the entire game on unfair.

One of my favorite depictions of genestealers is in the second Word Bearers novel.

In a novel with the worst CSM, Dark Eldar and literal greedy incel human character who sells people. The Genestealers are pure horror-fuel and freak out the WBs and they win.

Then you have a Word Bearer mercy-killing his brother who got a love-lick and it’s one of the few displays of some pretty wholesome behaviour from the Sith legion. They even stop to offer a prayer in his name.

And that's right where it starts to fall apart. I've said as much before on the topic, I don't want to show up to a game to spend 30+ minutes sorting out which rules are being used, negotiating terrain placement, etc. If I'm showing up to a game, I want to play. As far as what 40k has that OPR doesn't? Many things. An IP with themes I find interesting, the ability to just show up and play, but more importantly it actually has a playerbase. If I'm going to consider playing OPR that I don't like after reading through it, I sure as hell don't also want to have to spend weeks begging at the game store for someone else to be willing to play it when I already don't want to. I'd have an easier time finding a game for ASOIAF than that. And no, I don't think OPR is the worst rules on the planet, far from it, it's just not interesting in the slightest compared to Conquest, Infinity, Shatterpoint, and a pile of other games I'd rather put time into long before OPR.
That's fair. It's not the kind of game that you can play in a store. It only works as a game with friends, but it's not a fault of the system, it's just different. Seems like your issues aren't the game though but the community around it. Those are really two different things. The lack of lore does suck, and they try but those short stories are kind of awful. It's painfully cringe reading a story where the characters refer to themselves as lust demons.

No... that's not it. It really is "I read the rules, didn't like them, do not want to play". Everything else is just secondary to that. It doesn't matter what the system is, if I read the rules which is kind of the core part of any game, and dislike them to the point of not having any interest. This isn't even something specific to wargames or tabletop games.

As an example, I've looked at Factorio, I understand the mechanics and general gameplay. I never want play that shit. Doesn't mean other people can't have fun playing it, I simply don't want to. Wouldn't play it if it were free.

As far as the communtiy around OPR, it's non-existent locally(i'd say anything within about a 45 minute drive is local). Clubs don't exist outside of a couple of historical groups, and they still play at stores. There might be some private OPR groups, but I don't want to go to some random person's house to play a game I've got no interest in playing(that's just weird). There are people within my friend group that have tried it... and then decided not to continue bothering with it for various reasons. "Hey remember that OPR game you played and didn't like? I don't like it either, let's play!" is even stranger idea when we could just play a game we like.

Even if a community did exist, I'm still never going to want to play it. Something I see posted very commonly by a LOT of people and in the RPG thread is people coming up with more excuses to NOT play games based on "the community" than playing games at times. I'll be damned if I'm going to let the fact that some tranny exists at the game store prevent me from playing a game, I just won't play with them. But at the same time I'm not going to play a game because a community exists either, and that's where the evangelism for OPR(and other games like TC, had some Malifaux weirdos for a bit locally that were as bad as jehovas witnesses going door to door at times, the remaining warmachine players walking up to you no matter what you're playing trying to shill warmachine, x-wing locals used to be pretty bad with this even if you're playing a gamegame like Twilight Imperium) gets really fucking obnoxious.

Well when you answered my question you sited everything BUT the game so I don't know how else you expected me to take it.

I was very clear about that after you disqualified simply glancing at datasheets. Let's see what you said
I wont pretend that OPR is the deepest ocean, but have you actually read the rules? And I don't mean just glanced at some data sheets. Have you played the game? It's simple, yes, but you get out of it what you put in. The moment to moment gameplay, I feel, is more meaningful and intentional than 40k. It cuts out some of the dumb dice rolling like rolling to charge or move, so more of your actions are intentional. It avoids random chance grinding the game to a halt because you accidentally rolled a one and your unit basically loses its turn. The advanced rules offer a ton of options for your games, but it's left up to you to decide what kind of game you want.
And then what was the beginning of my response to that
Nope, because I've read through it and I've got zero interest in what I've read
I simply gave additional reasons I don't like it after that statement. You asked if I read the rules, I said yes and that I don't like them. Can't get much clearer than that, the rules are the game.
