Erm they are both Son's of Dorn, The Templars used 1st Captain Sigismund's Heraldry as there Chapter Heraldry during the 2nd founding, in the second founding Dorn kept the die hard fists inline with the codex, Sigismund took the old guard fists who valued honour and valour, and the name Black Templars, and Alexus Polox took the younger more level headed Imperial fists and they became the Crimson Fists who adpoted the imperial fist's iconography but in red to represent there loyalty to Polox.

There might have been another chapter founded as according to various sources 3500+ Imperial Fists survived the Iron Cage indecent, but the records are either lost or the extra 500 where split between the other 2nd founding chapters.
>Second founding
>True sons
Ridiculous. Next you'll tell me the Excoriators matter.

Yep I will, 2nd founding Chapters are reflections of the legion they decended from an more closely adhear to that legions mythos. The perfect example is the Red Marked, Aeonid Theal was a censured sergent who became a ad hock captain, who realised the realities of war and his "Red Marked" became the basis of the codex, they are the closes chapter to the ultrasmurphs and are the first to give recruits to them if they are under strength.

In the 41st millennium is't all about purity and history, for marines. And if we are talking about purity well let's talk about the Ultra marines shall we.

I will sum up my thoughts on the matter with the song of my race's people.

"Ahem. Orkz Orkz. Orkz Orkz Orkz. Orkz Orkz. Orkz."
-Revs wartrukks engines-

But seriosuly, just found some archives of the old Gorkamorka rulebooks, arguably the 3rd best spinoff game of warhammer history, after only Bloodbowl and Battlefleet Gothic. I mean it's basically Mad Max the Tabletop Game.

I'm a firm believer in that Warhammer (And any miniature gaming at all tbh, excluding real world history battles) should be about YOUR guys, not the overarching fluff. make your own warband, paint your own schemes, tell your own fucking stories, etc.

Lastly, Battlefleet Gothic Armada released it's final army before release, the Eldar. They rely heavily on mobility, as they don't have shields like the others, but holos-shields, which rely on negating damage by how fast they go. Most of their guns are also prow mounted, and their solar sails give them quick and rapid bursts of speed combined with the ability to rapidly 180, as opposed to the reliability and manuverability of the Chaos/Imperial ships and the raw, unreliable power of the Orkz. They are a heavy mobility race that needs a lot of care, as if they ever stop moving, they FUCKING DIE.

Yep Rogal Dorn was the last hold out to the Codex Astarties, it was only the thought of a 2nd civil war that made him even engage in the iron cage, after the mauling they took during the battle of terra, that's also why the Templars say HAHAH fuck that nicely printed bog paper and are at legion strength, and at times why the fists have been too, the reason other marines an the inquisition are not botherd about that is because they are ball's to the fucking wall loyal an have proved it time after time after time.

You really need to read the beast arises stuff theres a lot of fluff for the imperial fists and a few massive reveals

I might be the only Ultrasmurfs fanboy in this thread. I'm really into the well-drilled, ultra-competent warrior monk aspect and the Space Roman aesthetics. Doesn't hurt that I was introduced to the series through Chaos Gate.

I'm currently just looking at the Fist sperging with mixtures of interest and disinterest myself, though that's mainly because I tend to be more of an IG fan who likes what can be done with the setting more than the actual fluff itself. To me, the fluff is there as a material, and it is the story of how your company of battle brothers, regiment of guardsmen, or whatever else is doing in the shitfuck world of the 41st millenium.

And the Smurfs are fine when they aren't written by the official writers and not tard-bashed by social troglodytes. They were good in that one game, and roman legion allrounders are fun. I like Mongolian Bikers more, but Smurfs are k.

That was quite d'aww while still fitting the grimmness of the galaxy. Speaking of Eldar, I forget how many craftworlds are still left. I think the writers did too since don't they fluctuate on how many casualties they can take? I remember seeing stuff where even a few hundred was a nasty blow, but then they can tank 10,000 deaths due to something like a Tyranid swarm nomming through the aether.

You're all grotz 'cept @Strelok (hey 'dere ork bro!).

I'm really looking forward to a massive game at the end of this month at my local store, two of the stores biggest ork armies (myself and another guy) are running a "last stand" game against the stores 30k marine players, i've been working on finishing up some of my building projects and basing them for the game, below is my warboss who i've rebuilt for the third or fourth time (i think this one is a keeper).

20160330_175937.jpg

I was looking up gorkoamorka stuff and came across the single greatest 'kustum job I've ever seen.

Yes, Orkish Doof Wagon. ImmORKton Joe lives.

I could see orks painting themselves chrome believing they will ascend to Valhalla when they die. Since they are orks it would actually work and they would end up on the planet Valhalla with the ice warriors.

There is infact a story in the lore about an orkish warboss who flew his fleet into the Warp chasing down some fleeing chaos warband, and got himself stranded on a Khornate planet where the tortured souls of the damned were risen each day and forced to fight again. To quote the Warboss "Told ye I knew where tha best fightin' wuz!"

Are these books any good? At twenty bucks a pop for the hardcover id rather just catch up on other books that are in mass market paperback.

There a mix and match
Someone like abnetts opening novel are excellent others just good, none have been bad so far.
Sadly their mostly novella length titles being charged at full price.
Early next year anthology editions are being released which are pretty much 3 for the price of one so unless your a superfan or can get them cheap they may not be worth your investment.

The BFG:A launch trailer just came out, game goes full live in about 20 hours or so. But goddamn that trailer is amazing.

Almost makes me want to root for the corpse worshipers.

I'll wait when they introduce more ships, since I'm interested in giving a fleet combat game a shot and this one looks fun. Namely Dark Eldar Corsairs and stuff, though from what I saw, Chaos seems to fit that role somewhat too.

You'd be waiting awhile, first added faction is Marines, and next are probably gonna be Necrons, then Tau, then Nids, going by the tabletop it's based on.

Man I hope they make a sweet campaign for every faction when all these come out. Like the first Dawn of War but more planet hopping.
