I see you are not acquainted with the WWII tank modelling community.
Everything from "count the number of factory rivets in this version" aspergers to "this exact shade of post-rain mud happened after Kursk, with these exact miniature leaves" crazies.

Id say thats forgivable because you can work look at real world application. I guess my point is that people in mecha and wargame modeling tend to use it as a crutch a lot of the time to make up for other areas. You dont have to try highlighting if you cake all the detail in shit.

Sounds like modelling community as a whole outside of wargaming.

nah I’m pretty sure some of the WW2 war gamers get mad at color schemes or wrong camos. Like “Oh the flamerschuper 45th regiments used this camo pattern blah blah” it’s less about the game and more re-enactment.

GW makes crack dealers and pay day loan places look benevolent with that email.

Trust I also noticed instore GW employees are much nicer nowadays too. Another thing that got me into AoS was I entered a GW on a very slow Thursday afternoon and I struck up a conversation with the redshirt or im sorry Blackshirt now. We talked about the old days and he offered to play a test game I was hesitant since I was still holding back autism over AoS killing fantasy but thought why not. We played and I ended up liking it a lot (even more than 40k). Speaking of stores though anyone here remember Battlebunkers? GWs are so goddamn tiny now.

Its the other way around too... people didnt liked it when i painted my first guard tank in the camo and with the insignia of the SS Panzerdivision "Totenkopf"...

The late 00’s early 10’s weren’t kind to GW and most places with large play spaces got canned even outside of burger land. It was at the same time they started operating most stores as one man shows.
It was only up until a few years ago most stores were only open 5 days a week things started picking up during late 7th Ed but they’re keeping most of the smaller stores because it’s cheaper. They’re almost all open 7 days a week again including one man shops since they probably have a part timer as well.
Stores definitely helped GW corner the wargaming hobby as a whole. There isn’t another company out there that has a dedicated store outside it’s HQ.
Fantasy Flight is arguably GW’s largest competitor and even it doesn’t have dedicated shops and its product range is Far larger then games workshop.
They even sell none fantasy flight product in their HQ games store which should work out in their favour but it just doesn’t. Other companies are probably afraid to take the plunge into dedicated shops. Also the less said about the zombie that is privateer press the better.

So what's the Custodes equivalent (stupidly elite small unit army) in AoS, anyway?
For each main alliance:
Chaos: Varanguard, it is literally an army of chaos champions in service to Archaeon

Order: Stormcast Extremis Chamber, it's stormcast on giant lizards lead by stormcast on star dragons

Death: Either Nagash with his morghast or Flesh-Eater Court Gristlegore which allows for zombie dragons and terrorgheists to be considered battleline

Destruction: Troggoths or Ogors, though in both Death and Destruction's cases they are more monster heavy than small elite unit heavy

Mine was $9 if I spent $65. I rushed to their site to take advantage but everything I wanted was on backorder :/

Mine is $10 if I spent $83 (rounding up). Flayed Ones came back into stock today, so I snagged a box, which puts me just over halfway there. If the rattle-can Leadbelcher comes back before the 30th, I might dip into what's left of my Trumpbux and snag that plus some of those creeping vines to play with on my bases. Otherwise there's nothing else I really want or need just now.

I fully intend to have a Troggoth army someday, no matter how awful it might be. I love the Rockgut models THAT much. In fact, the only Trog I don't like is the standard Trogboss, but there's so many face and weapon options I can make it work.

I also really like Mollog. He's a sleppy boi.

I can't see Nagash and not think of this:

Hello there little goyi- uh... I mean Space Marine players. I hope you are excited to purchase the new $50 codex this weekend.

Price for the silent king rumoured to be £90 and army books going up to £30. They look nice but the oversized diorama models are a nightmare to paint and transport safely.
Why do people not get airbrushes for this hobby!
It makes thinks 1000000000000% easier.
