Don't forget that rattlecans tend to melt foam so be sure to seal it in pva+ water if you're not using a filler/ plaster-of-paris for rock texture.

I've got a jar of mod podge I was going to mix with some texture and paint all over it before priming, would you reccomend anything more than that?

Sounds like a good plan, i've never used modpodge myself but from what i know of it you shouldn't have any problems.

I think people overstate GWs stance on this. Warhammer community has already featured armies with 3D printed bits to full models and the articles are still up.

GW 3D print themselves and feature models with clear print lines all the time. I honestly wouldn’t doubt they are hesitant over people 3D printing but aren’t losing any sleep over it if people just use it to print Warhammer thus pushing their IP still.

Well, either way, they did delete the retweet.

A LOT of news to cover.
Helbrecht is getting a novel:
As much as I like more Black Templar content, I personally would like to see another Grimaldus novel.

Another article reveals more from the CSM Codex:
Some of this confirms some of the leaks, but some are new.
GW, just announce the release date.

Dark Angels MKVI Heads and Shoulderpads:
Great for Unforgiven & Fallen alike.

This is a bit sad

Not the trait the picture. They're still using the old CSM bodies, even though the resin parts do fit on the new kit (assembled some... no idea when I'll ever get around to painting them).
Conspiracy time, maybe this means they'll be releasing all new Noise Marine kits and so didn't update their promo material! (Unlikely but hey we can hope).

Your conspiracy is wrong. Emperor's children will get refreshed in 10th. Like the tsons in 7th, dg in 8th, and the world eaters now.

New Craftworlds datasheet points adjustments leak says it's gonna cost +20 per Farseer and +50 for Baharroth. I can surmise they want to prevent WAACs from fielding 3 Farseers at a time and take the avatar, and the Baharroth points increase which is unfamothable even by GW standards has more to do with how skyleap is wrecking some games. I don't know if they fucked up Farseers on bikes but it would be logical.
I wish they'd fix the Autarch, it's a cool unit and it is overcosted for what it can do.

Some of the new CSM kits are looking pretty nice. If I wasn't already sitting on loads of unwrapped kits, I'd probably pick some up just as painting projects.

I just started building my first army and was able to talk 3 of my DnD friends to come over with me. I'm going necron and I think they're going ork, grey knight, and thousand sons. I was able to find all the codices .pdf's on russian websites, but had to buy the core rule book. I figured out that balance changes are made through periodic book releases and the dataslate, but is there a free way to stay updated on those rules? I'd like to be up to date but I'm not dropping $50 on a book every few months.

Edit- What's the etiquette with using 3d printed proxies in public games? Most of them look like shit, but I was able to print a pretty decent looking ghost ark and I'm not sure if it's frowned upon if I go to my local gamestore to play a stranger.

So. People noticed something in the Horus Heresy rulebook. An inclusion that is the most beautiful thing I've seen in forever, and is enough to make me almost want to buy the damned boxed set just for fun.

Female Space Marines are now forever, explicitly, not-cannon. It would take a very SPECIFIC retcon to undo this at any time in the future. Sigmarxism and Feminist 40k are losing their shit over it, because they've been trying to wedge Female Space Marines into the lore for oh, about a decade now, ever since they started performing Entryism into the hobby. The hook being that GW never EXPLICITLY said that Female Space Marines weren't allowed, not EXPLICITLY, in MODERN LORE... And now GW has. Explicitly.

Space Marines are male. They can only be male. Most men cannot survive the process, and absolutely no women can.

"Comrade dreadful" having a shitfit, but not near as much as the lefty-meme sized response from Andy here.

Remember everyone, the evil alt-right nazi fascist capitalist TERFs will use this against the poor innocent Marxists who just want to destroy the game to spite it's players, but they're the victims when GW tells them no, they can't retcon the game to make trannymarines a thing.

Sigmarxism's thread on it has a new cope that Twitter's also picked up on -- M2F Trannymarines are still ok, becuase everyone knows M2F Trannies are actually men!

... no wait, uh... shit.

You're reading too much into it. It's very typical for GW to continuously use their old painted models for photoshoots whenever possible. Even without the possibility of a full Emperor's Children faction down the road, GW's limited studio painters have much better things to do than completely redo the Noise Marine upgrade on different CSM bodies.

That Andy guy really needs to get laid.

I'm guessing that the new paints are the result of ArmyPainter's Speedpaint line? Maybe?

Fucking BRIGHT. Surprised there's not 1 for each color of the rainbow. The green and cyan are quite nice.

View attachment 3384307
Baal Red looks interesting, closer to Mephiston Red than the old contrast? Another yellow? Is there enough of a diff between Bad Moon and Imperial Fist from the FUCKINGBRIGHT lineup above?

THESE, these I like. Mantis Warriors Green is the only one I'm not sold on.

Again these are great. I like Ratling Grime and Garaghak's Skewer, but the Cyan and Purple are nice too.

These are also nice. I like the Mortarion Grime in particular, think that would work great with a lot of stuff. The grey might also be pretty good as a catch all shade, too. Blue might be good for gems and lenses, maybe?
It vaguely reminds me of the old Lipton Tea figurines from when I was a kid.
