Painting a little squad of Lamenters and going to try freehanding. If I don't make it back... no ragrets
I've started a casual project of painting 2-5 bro parties of little known/played Chapters and Warbands. It's a shame there aren't more color schemes with interesting patterns or gradients, but I get that it saves painters from some grief.

4chan's SMASHFUCKER writeup was hilariously entertaining to read. Somehow wound up with an HQ statistically tankier than their own Primarch in 30k was.

Iron Hands were broken as fuck in 8th, especially after their supplement dropped. I knew a guy with an IH army back then and I think he only lost like two of the games he played with them. He ran a Leviathan Dreadnought and the only time it died was in a fight with Celestine where her player got absurdly lucky with his rolls.But who is a Lernaen and who is Alpharius? Man, there's not a single faction in 40k that I couldn't see me running an army of. Except maybe GSC and Necrons, and even then, I'm sure if I read the codex once or twice I'd figure out some hook I could use. (Hell, isn't one of the GSC factions a corrupted corporation or research company or something?)
Space Marines, I have a few painted up as Blood Ravens but le meme army is starting to lose it's luster for me. But of course, there's really not a legion in the list I don't appreciate on some level, except like, White Scars and Raven Guard. And again, I'm sure if I read their lore, it would click, heh.
And then there's the other meme chapters like Carcharodons, Lamenters, Soul Drinkers...

You mean THE BEST BOYS. Time willing I want to take my project and finish them into Kill Teams. It'd be nice if the Lamenters got their own book by a good author, even the Black Dragons have an alright one and I think they're even less known. All we really get is Chyron in Deathwatch who is still a fun-loving, not at all depressed lad.

You are like me however they seem to shove in White Scars/Raven Guard in the same books so its a double feature. Its why I started making a mixed Raven Guard/White Scar force recently. I kinda grew out of the /yourdudes/ for warhammer but I love making forces for the chapters/warbands/Klans that have a paragraph of lore and arent in the spotlight to much though.
My next project is gonna be LOTR models with Orks specifically Blood Axes. The entire idea of Blood Axes are just so cool to me it makes me sad not a lot of people care about them but at least GW updated Kommandos for me.

Had a first today - a game that ended in an actual tie. 1200 point ToW; my Goffs vs a friend's 'Crons. The highlight was an absolute free-for-all midfield that had my Squigosaur and Wartrike mixing it up with his Void Dragon shard and a big pile of Skorpekh Destroyers that ended with everyone dead - the Squigosaur finished the Shard using the fight on death strat. After that, neither of us had much left on the table in position to do a whole lot - my Kill Rig and the Beast Snaggas it deposited earlier were too far away to make it into position to dislodge his stuff in the remaining two rounds and he no longer had enough bodies to do much more than hold points.

I like the smooth designs the squats have going for them. It makes their squatmobile look pretty distinct if a bit silly, like gluing wheels to an egg.
