Just wondering, is the Beast book series worth reading? I do know the rough lore about the series but I've haven't seen a lot of people talk about the individual books themselves the same way they talk about a few in the Heresy. Think the most I know about is that there are somehow multiple Beasts somehow and arch was using it as an example to how the fall of cadia should of been handle back when it broke before the guard did.

That's true, but they do make exclusively warhammer products, at least from what I remember. It's also sad to think about how few individuals in both companies actually have/had that passion for 40k to create something that great.
That's true, but there was traditionally (and may still be, although I understand that it's shrunk in recent years) a clear division between GW proper and FW, which was run as a subsidiary company owned by GW, rather than just a loose internal division. BL had the same distinction, although I believe it was brought on a shorter leash much earlier.

Anything directly involving Primarchs is inherently a mistake, but if you can stomach that, you can probably do worse.

Here is my mini tax for the post

orc 1.jpg orc 2.jpg

some orc boyz I painted with speed paints, made glamour shots of each orc individually but I don't think there is a point to post them individually.

now for my conundrum : the local shop starts the crusade on the 26th and the first game is 1000pts so I made my list and request your feedback

I have been tempted to join the tyranid side by using a soup list of genestealers and tyranids but I decided to tought it out with my mechboys
also this second part applies to the Black Library readers here: I need some help naming the squads in my list because I really want to avoid just naming them some shit like "lambda - 74" or whatever

I bought a new printer and decided to celebrate by printing the dark angels combat patrol. They still need cleaned up a bit before priming.

According to what I've picked up on 1d4chan I AM SLAUGHTER is as fun to read as the name implies. The best part is Slaughter Koorland has facial hair worthy of Dorn himself.

So two weeks ago I played my first ever game with my friend who has played more older editions so with his experience and me being completely new to the tabletop side of it, we figured that how to play 10th edition. My friend finds it easier to understand than 8th or 9th edition and as a new player, I didn’t find the learning curve to be that difficult. We both had fun playing it. There were some things I felt should be clarified in the rules but I think GW will fix them in the future with this edition.

GW being GW, they'll either ignore it completely or they'll fix it and then those fixes will inevitably break something else, after which the new codexes and campaign books will drop and power creep will eventually buttfuck the entire edition and the cycle will continue into 11th just as it has since about 5th.

I got a knight abominant to convert into a damaged looking freeblade now I can't make up my mind about the carapace and if I should use the chained or regular door, chained seems a little too chaosy.

Blood Angels combat patrol. I think my glue is out of date or something and it makes the models look really sloppy before they're primed.

can you take a close up of the "sloppy" part cause super glue going bad is weird

I'v read on 1d4chan, that Fish of Fury is back, can any space weeb player confirm this? I always wanted to see this in action, mainly due to amounts of RAGE it supposedly caused,

but sadly, i started playing around 5th edition. Personally, from the description i think it is kinda gimped, since you have to spend 1 CP every time you want to initiate it, so to speak.

Pilgrims Pass decides to delve into the philosophical underpinnings of the Space Marines and whether or not the Imperial Truth and the Imperial Creed really are mutually exclusive and hypocritical, along with the idea of transhuman demigods being the defenders of humanity.

Conclusion? Actually no, because while GW was trying to make a satire, they took really strong influence from Heinlein and Herbert for the science fiction side of thing, while also adapting Roman Catholicism and Medievalism. In space and in a setting where humanity is being pushed to brink. The end result is that instead of a satire, its actually a realistic meditation on what humanity is capable of in extreme circumstances.

In short it is 40 minutes of pure political and science fiction autism. ENJOY!

This is the worst fucking hobby I've ever tried getting into. So much cool shit I wanna buy and paint, but I have no idea where to start and the price tag is daunting. And the worst part is I'm autistic enough to not be deterred by any of it.
Idk how any of you fuckers manage.

And to think it was a fucking youtube fan animation that drew me in. Not any of the official material. Just some autistic kiwi who had 5 years to burn apparently.

For me its a love hate relationship with the hobby. I got into 40k during 7th deciding to go with Blood Angels. I really like the lore and the books, and mainly collect while playing games occasionally. The main thing that's pushing me from the hobby is GW, and the funko pop crowd getting into it. I have exclusively first born marines. I don't like primaris marines, so I don't have any. With the replacement of first born marines, and their erasure in each new edition I find myself getting closer to putting down the hobby entirely. Even small things like making scouts an elites choice in 9th when in every edition prior they were troops made me pissed.
Honestly its a great hobby it's just ran by greedy assholes.

Pick a faction. Buy their Combat Patrol box plus clippers, plastic glue, four brushes, eight paints and a can of acrylic spray paint. Good to go.

Addendum: unless you hate yourself and want to feel even MORE overwhelmed, don't pick Astra Militarum (Imperial Guard), Genestealer Cults or Orks. Very hordy armies

Don't pick a faction right away, get the starter painting set and a can of primer and work through the 5 or so models in the set. You'll see your skills improve noticably from the first to the last model.

If you liked doing that then go for your chosen faction's combat patrol box and pick yourself a colour scheme. Also you can paint your models however you like; if you want red Ultramarines you go for it and anyone who says otherwise can eat shit.

I've known coke heads that spend less on their hobby.
But unlike coke at last you get nice little minis you can put on your shelves... as a constant reminded that you could have painted them better...

Honestly for marines in general just don't do a first founding chapter, or a chapter that is well known. It gives you more flexibility in playstyle if you're dealing with fags who get mad if you wanna play your ultramarines as salamanders.
