Very happy about the upcoming Vespid models, they and the Kroot are some of my favorite designs in 40k. It also makes me hopeful: recently it seems GW is remembering that the Tau Empire is an “Empire.” It should have tons of sick aliens and shit!
Heres hoping they continue this and maybe add some new auxilleries, I dream of one day running a 40k Tau army with no Tau on the board!

Any recent 40K books that are good?
Some of the new jeans sealer books were alright sadly no one is writing about the legions of votan because no one actually plays them.
Vainglorious you might want to read the rest of the series before reading that one but it's the conclusion
Siege of Vraks it's good they finally released a book on that it was mentioned in a few places
Saints and Martyrs
good collection of short stories about the sisters of battle

you know what we really need though for GW to make entire series dedicated to following an artillery regiment nothing gets people's blood boiling like talking about slight adjustments to your guns 5° to the north it would be riveting.

Steel Tread
it's a three-year old book at this point but it's pretty good really GW doesn't do enough books focusing on the Navy and tank regiments

However, that's a bit of a Thermian Argument, because honestly? You know and I know and everybody knows exactly why the artistic decision was made to depict that character as a black woman.
Yeah, it'll be something if they were all women or niggers. But it kind of loses some weight seeing the same people seething about it for the past few months. As long as it isn't an troon or another Mary Sue, I really don't care that much.

The Thermian Argument was coined by joyless social justicey types to criticise 'problematic' content in fiction, by those arguing (often disingenuously) at cross-purposes about the lore, because fiction, by it's very nature is not real.

So, you can't argue that Princess Quimavere from the mystical kingdom of Cameltoe goes into battle in a chainmail bikini, because it's her choice as an independent woman in her culture where her people all just happen to choose to dress that way, because she isn't real. She was created by an artist who deliberately made artistic decisions in her creation, usually to illustrate a message that that creator wanted to portray.

Unfortunately for them, however, the Thermian Argument can also be used quite effectively to criticise all the shoehorned in DEI progressive tokenistic shit that they like so much in media nowadays. That character can't just be a black woman, someone on the creative team decided that that character should be a black woman, and there was probably a reason they were influenced into that creative decision.

Honestly, I kind of hate that this has rankled me so much that I've written a whole spiel about it, because it's so fucking inconsequential (although, I do wonder, if people are going to argue that it's inconsequential, why couldn't that character have been - gasp! - a white man?) but fuck it, it really stuck out to me and I feel like I notice stuff like this more and more nowadays.

God damn I thought there would at least be decent new SM novels or The Scouring novels, I just want some guys in power armour fucking over Chaos while thinking about their place in the Galaxy and the chains of command.

Just wanted to ask what it was, and it's just the usual cancer of criticizing media in a way that only applies to one side.

I get this. Although while the DEI shit is annoying, it's just an waste of energy to be constantly complaining about it every single time it pops up without actually being overt about it.

Canonically? No one cares. The important thing is that you're human, it doesn't matter what colour you are or what chromosomes you have. The hellish nature of everyday existence in the Warhammer 40,000 universe has, ironically, actually been a real boon for racial and sexual politics, because everybody has more pressing things to worry about.

Sex blind conscription make even less sense for a regressive regime. A regime that didn't give a shit about individual human life or feelings would want the sexes where they functioned best which for women would be at the homefront or at most some support or maybe a specialized sniper unit if they were one of a very rare few. Not fucking things up trying to fit in as an identical cog with males twice as big and strong. Its a stupid argument not supported by logic or any historical evidence.

New space marine model announced "THE GW SPACE MARINE SCANDAL GETS WORSE!"
Codex announced for imperial agents "THE WARHAMMER SCANDAL GETS WORSE!"
GW announces a free mini of the month "THE SCANDAL WORSE!"
GW announces a recycling initiative "WORSE!"
You can't even tell what the video might be about most of the time. Might as well start up a low effort channel that just scrapes the latest warcom posts, grabs a picture, adds a facepalming AI space marine for the thumbnail, and generates a negative script based on whatever keywords were in the post. Could get tens of thousands of views apparently, but with less effort even.

That's the state of youtube clickbait for 2024 thus far. Everything keeps getting worse.

Pretty sure that this part is supposed to be satirical or it's just something that hasn't really been explained outside of "we need warm bodies and we need them NOW!"

The Imperium is not at all efficient, they couldn’t organize such a society even if it wanted to.

When the Imperium demands its tithe in the form of regiments, they don’t care about the sex of the soldiers. Mixed-sex, standard all-male, or a unit of amazons, the Imperium doesn’t care. It’s just one more body which can hold a lasgun against the coming horde.

Even though she has no lines and her role is basically to get fried by vespids, of course, she had to be black and female. Because of course she did.
GW is inserting DEI hires into it's setting just to instantly kill them off and you're black pilled? (this is just a joke)

I mean, plenty of tourneyfags did.

For about a week.
IIRC there was a panic in the tourny scene just because of how OP they were on launch. I think their current movement is so nerfed they make Death Guard look fast but I'm probably mixing up my KT stuff with regular tourny.

yeah but thats sadly over... you could get very very good deals for barely painted space dwarfs after they failed to win.

I paid 100€ for about 1000 points from some salty metagamer.
its a fun army to play against and easy to get into even for noobs.

Anyone have a recommendation for where to buy terrain? I know GW sometimes put out their own but it's way too expensive for what you get. I'm not too concerned about pre-painted or not. I'm looking for a decent variety in a not too expensive set. I'm also too lazy to fiddle with popsicle sticks and sprue to make my own. MDF terrain seems to be a pretty sweet spot between getting something cheap that isn't made out of paper. Do people make ruins that aren't just the very corner of a ruin? It seems you either get the bare minimum for a piece to be considered a ruin, or an entire cathedral that would make your life hell if you actually tried to put models inside it. What kind of stuff do you guys use?

Well, it'd be nice to see a new Astra Militarum book come out from Black Library and it NOT have the most prominent person on the front cover be a woman in military fatigues.
When was the last Ciaphas Cain novel? Bruce Campbell wishes he had a chin that magnificent, and the man himself has muscles to rival a Catachan. Its no wonder women all over the Imperium hopelessly fall in love with him.

Thankfully given his paranoia he makes sure he's protected at all times, otherwise there'd be hundreds of bastards of his running around the galaxy.

I build all of my own stuff out of just rocks I found in the woods I used to do masonry for a bit so it's really not that hard you can pick up a bag of mortar for like 9 bucks rocks are free keep in mind it's really heavy and you really can't move it very often.
For like leafy terrain I definitely don't shoplift from my local soulless hobby chain that sells it that would be against the law and doing illegal things is morally wrong.

It's actually really not that hard to Start learning how to chisel and woodrock

Gender roles is the instinctual default of man. It takes considerable training/brainwashing to instill gender neutrality. Saying gender neutral armies is the default state when the authorities don't bother is like saying cavemen will just make shitty DEI offices out of rocks or that the imperium would be the type of government that would embrace xenos. Because after all they don't care right? So shouldn't the Imperium just be evil Star Trek?

A mostly/almost entirely male army is how things naturally would sort out. It totally breaks the whole pseudomedievalish vibe to have nearly 50/50 gender normed armies.

Usually if I'm feeling lazy I pick something up from battlefield in a box.

I'm pretty sure that this is an unspoken thing in the series.

But why do you autists keep insisting that there's actually an 50/50 split going on? I'd said that the higher ups probably don't give an fuck as long as it "pays" their taxes and the recent content is just DEI nonsense

What's next, someone else bitching about the gender ratio of the Custodes? Or the noticeable lack of female tech-priests?

Etsy, eBay, Amazon. No shortage there if you want to spend da cash. What I’ve have as real terrain is mostly from starter sets or whatever comes in GW boxes.

If you’re really poor just use a bunch of cardboard and random shit from your house tossed on the table. If you’re creative the world is your oyster and all you need is glue and some paint to make a decent tabletop. Plastic straws can be turned into piping for an industrial setting. Pinecones can be painted up as weird alien plant life. Rocks just used as rocks. Empty energy drink cans can be used as water towers. Dixie cups and some straws can turn into a communications dish. Personally I’ve been acquiring wooden coffee stir stick from work and have been making wood fences, boxes, and even an entire farmhouse with cut open cardboard boxes lining over the windows to look reinforced by metal sheets. Even the sprues your models come in and be used for stuff, I have a whole range of Czech hedgehogs cut from sprues and some spare wiring you can easily make barbed wire fences.. Older days in 40k the magazines would have instructions on how to made terrain too.
