let me clarify they care to an extent but it's not the core of the business Xbox only brings in about $15 billion that may sound like a lot of money but the cloud computing services bring in about 60.
Microsoft Office brings in twice as much
Prime Video only makes 5 billion Amazon Web Services makes 90.
Yeah they care if it loses money because they like making money but it is not overall a very big part of the overall businesses
All that means is they're not risk averse for those business units, not that they won't seek growth because the potential for growth is obvious.

This is why Microsoft is in the process of doing what EA did with studios in the early 2000s, after determining which ones didn't make precisely enough money and either shuttering or selling them. It's also the same reason Microsoft has been trying so desperately to penetrate the PC gaming market, as it isn't as large a portion as switch/playstation but there is a potential for an expansion of their customer base beyond existing XBL and gamepass subscriber numbers. Likewise, amazon doesn't have any problem dumping a couple hundred million into a show in an attempt to find their equivalent of something as popular as Netflix's Stranger Things(at least the first couple of seasons were popular) to again gain more viewership and potential for ad deals and other collaborations that could see an increase in revenue(like the current mr beast dumpster fire they want to put an end to due to the stupid show they partnered with him for). Amazon has gotten so pathetic with this they've jumped onto the stupid internet video "react" content years late, copying the UK show Gogglebox, in an attempt to attract more brainrot viewership while using it to cross promote their other shows/movies.

But it's generally not working Microsoft is basically setting money on fire buying up certain studios Bethesda to become profitable again they'd have to fire Todd Howard and find someone who's not incompetent.
343 is just setting money on fire and destroyed one of the flagship franchises
and they way overpaid for Activision Blizzard.
World of Warcraft popularity was always overblown actually one point runescape was more popular.
The only thing they really own that's relevant is Call of Duty.
It's like when they offered valve $13 billion for steam steam is worth at least 200 billion it basically controls most of the PC market.

People always think they know how to sell 10s of millions of copies of games they really don't no one wants microtransactions no one wants live service games no one wants any of these shovelware shallow RPG's and no one wants you to keep changing Halo constantly every installment with how the weapon system and the overall gameplays laid out

it actually reminds me of what happened to interplay they basically bought up a bunch of studios and then went bankrupt Microsoft has way too much money to go bankrupt from a few bad business decisions.

I mean if GW decides to go four we love international man on man butt play
they're gonna go the way of Disney constantly losing money and asking themselves how can people hate Star Wars.

New leak dropped for some guard flying units. There were some previous rumors there were going to be an Elysium drop trooper kill team with the new kill team season focused on fliers. Iirc this was well befire the beta gamma? (Didn’t buy it or care for it) announcement

Loxatl and the blood pack should really get some new models I play those with my friends who can run a The Sabbat Worlds Crusade
game it's sad that all you get for chaos these days is just more of the same and none of the chaos units that aren't crazy people I might actually pick some up if they had stuff like the blood pact

TLDW an editor was behind the femstodes lore because "They didn't think anyone would read the lore" and a paid intern who was responsible for the twitter post stating femstodes were always cannon. The post also says Amazon has received so many emails about this they had to give out more then a stock response.
It's safe to say we can call this for bullshit that it is. Custodes didn't sell poorly because of some "drunk editor or intern" it was because the codex was absolutely awful and still is. It's the same thing that happened with imperial agents which was just another overpriced white dwarf supplement. As for Amazon they'd have no reason to answer any questions that weren't from investors.
Not sure who the Marshall guy is in the post shown but we can say with a high probability it's a poor trolling attempt or he's the the Doomcock of Warhammer.

So basically more unsubstantiated and illogical bullshit. No one would read the lore? There are autists who read every word of text printed in an attempt to determine the heights of primarchs. People who read every detail they can for any ideas they can use for their own character kitbashes. And we're supposed to believe that a GW employee could assume that no one would read the lore? The lore that generally rare changes yet is constantly complained about for not changing, and then complained about when it does change?

And yes, amazon has no reason to give a response about the shit to anyone besides investors or high level GW employees at this point. In fact, because amazon is a publicly traded company, making unnecessary commentary because people are asking about some bullshit that's due multiple fiscal quarters from now, making statements would only serve to be a liability.

Also, to claim that AoS is unpopular? AoS usually occupies more shelf space in a game store than anything else, other than 40k of course. Most miniature companies would strive to hit a fraction of what AoS does. Hell, AoS generally gets more shelf space than Necromunda, Horus Heresy, Epic, MESBG, Warcry, and Bloodbowl combined. Nevermind the fact that AoS is just about as easy to find a game for as 40k, most of the other stuff in a game store... not so much unless you're already part of a dedicated play group for some particular niche.

And then to continue this bullshit about custodes collecting dust on the shelves.. no their codex is still mediocre after an update, prior to which it was utter fucking garbage. Combine that with half the damn range not even existing on store shelves(due to being FW, and the caladius tank and jetpack custodes actually are popular for a while now), and anyone who wanted to collect custodes would have most of the plastic range after the last couple of combat patrols and battleforce boxes anyway(nevermind a surplus of jetbikes because those still suck), of course the faction isn't selling worth a crap. Hell, 3/4 of the dreadnoughts aren't plastic, and the contemptor that is, is only on shelves as a horus heresy branded kit. The landraider hasn't been on store shelves in years because it's the oldest basic kit and comes in a plain white box when ordered from GW. The rhino for the sisters of battle... I can't say I've seen one besisdes the much better and newer HH kit on shelves in years. Duplicates of that 2 character pack and Trajan Valoris have basically no reason to sell. The widestodes captain is shit. And the wardens, terminators, bikes, and guard squad have been in multiple discount boxes for the past 4 or so years. That leaves what, the blade champion? People probably already have the 2-3 they'll ever need anyway.

edit: I was listening to this video from this sword n steele chick in the background, yeah it's good to call out the obvious bullshit for what it is.

And now that I think about it. The not wanting DEI shit in 40k... recent 40k is full of that shit. It's got gays, randomly brown people, women in roles of authority, enough so that people have been bitching about this for the past 5 years straight. But somehow, the CEO wants AoS used as a dumping ground for it? As if it hasn't been in 40k? Come on.

Marshal Bohemond is a gay twitch streamer that talks about 40k on stream and tweets a bit about it. He used to use a paper cutout of a Black Templar for his Twitch avatar but GW recently sent him a C&D harassment email, forcing him to switch to a generic one. People like Bitshammer and CerebrusXT fucking HATE him and swarm him with their followers every time he posts because as a male who enjoys cock, he's required by woke law to support their sociopolitical faggotry. But he doesn't.

He's actually started recently throwing up his hands and saying fuckit for both sides, he seems to have finally hit that point where he's tired of the stupid twitter shit. Good on him.

As for the leak, I could see an editor fucking with some fiction and thinking he could get away with it. I could see the social media intern being a flippant little shit. It's believable, at least in the abstract. Does that mean it's real? Who knows. Barring some kind of confirmed, "GW fired the guy for it" tier leak, we never will know for sure.

I keep seeing this as constant COPE and SNEEDING to ignore the gradual shittification of 40k. The art is being less grim dark, the main models releases are looking poor, and the stories are becoming as dull as modern Hollywood. It amazes me how so many 40k fans will not understand they’re a frog in a boiling pot and justify the temperature increases.

Thats okay I’ll keep playing that garbage and pick up proxies.

Are you talking about Ashley Cooper?
I don't want to 'Well, ackshually...' you, but as far as I'm aware, he's not actually a writer for Black Library proper, he's a game writer who is writing the upcoming Space Marine 2 video game.

His previous work includes Gotham Knights. What a hit!

Brother I'm dilating here!!!!

Vertical slice or genuine gameplay? Looks nice though, for the first time in a while I'm looking forward to a modern game given how open they are with showing gameplay. Not sure how I feel about...grapple hook Khorne Marines though.

I'd imagine they can't alter the Heretic marines much because giving them unique powers would be an extra thing to balance around especially since it's PVP. I'm definitely interested in the game, just hoping it doesn't suck, I'll be waiting a while to see how things shake out.

Marshall is a decent twitter guy, but this post is geniue as it comes. There is still no valid explanation, except that one writer got a hold and went full retard. Other then that no idea

I don't want to sound like Arch Warhammer sperging out over that black Ultramarine, but it stood out to me like a sore thumb that that sergeant was a black woman. Not in a "THE WEST HAS FALLEN" type way, but in a "Well, of course she is," type way. 🙄

Even though she has no lines and her role is basically to get fried by vespids, of course, she had to be black and female. Because of course she did.

There was Sister of Battle character recently who was also a sheboon. It just feels inorganic, forced and cynical. I noticed it, rather than it just being an organic part of the character.

That said, I'm excited for new vespid models. I love all the aliens in 40k. I'd like to paint them up in wasp yellow with black stripes.

Was racial purity actually an thing, lore-wise? Because as far as I can tell, everything more or less falls under "everyone is British" thing outside of an handful of planets that certain IG regiments hail from.

Outside of the whole unsanctioned mutant thing I don't think it was.

Canonically? No one cares. The important thing is that you're human, it doesn't matter what colour you are or what chromosomes you have. The hellish nature of everyday existence in the Warhammer 40,000 universe has, ironically, actually been a real boon for racial and sexual politics, because everybody has more pressing things to worry about.

However, that's a bit of a Thermian Argument, because honestly? You know and I know and everybody knows exactly why the artistic decision was made to depict that character as a black woman.

I don't actually have a problem with it, lorewise - the Astra Militarum ultimately just wants more meat for the grinder at the end of the day - but from a marketing perspective, I'm just noticing it more and more, and, frankly, it's starting to rankle and strike me as cynical pandering. I hasten to add that I'm not saying that I don't think there should EVER be a black protagonist or a female protagonist, it's just...

Well, it'd be nice to see a new Astra Militarum book come out from Black Library and it NOT have the most prominent person on the front cover be a woman in military fatigues.

Oh, but of course, she still has to be somewhat conventionally attractive, though, because they made Ursula Creed look like Miss Trunchbull, and nobody liked that.

Except for me. It was perfect, I love her, just like her old man, and I think she looks adorable in her dad's tattered old coat and especially in her cute little helmet. <3

Got some extended leave from work, and the missus is away, time to crack out the proxies and get them painted, first up is this big bastard:

Here's my usual paintjob type, recently picked up the painting side of it again after a 13 year break from my youth. Used to paint Leviathan style, trying to emulate the Hawk Wasp now.

I'm a shit painter, but seeing some of the quality in this threat is honestly inspiring. Makes me want to improve.

Also, got to say, despite how the thread often goes into doom and gloom about GW practises, derailing of the hobby etc, it's still one of my favourite to see fellow retards just enjoy something.

As an update on the big one, primary colours completed, just highlights, washes and corrections left, takes ages:

Also added a leftover Tervigon sack, I think it works well:

And a closeup on the Hive Tyrant, it's 50% original metal cast from an old one I used to have, quite proud of it:

Genuinely enjoying painting at the moment, what a relaxing pastime.
