The parry system is indeed a shitfest, blame dark souls for unleashing that plague.

The health regen was better in SM1, but the difficulty and having potato pc did impact it. On easy or normal the ammo is more than enough. Titus could hold more guns, but for pve it was the same. I just ignore parry and do the rolly-poly as I did in SM1. Rolly poly, melta to the face, rolly poly, melta to the face.

What sucks is that the melee doesn't restore health and overall the new bolters are a downgrade from the old bolters. The sniper doesn't have the ammo of the Stalker Bolter, and the rapid fire bolters can't match the storm bolter. Overall, your arsenal feels weaker. Also plasma cannon is now ass, its a grenade launcher with a parabola, guess where its landing and have all the enemies avoid it. It also can't launch them high in the air.

But it is definately better than Concord or Dustborn, and better than Outlaws or Samurai Niggaloo and Dragon Age :Derpguard will be. Your friends need better PCs.

Speaking of consoles, I always noticed that Hexbox is okay, but PS5 has a lot of disconnect issues. Both also have people making gross noises and not turning their microphone off lol. Feels Nurgle.

As far as your technical issues, I have a decade old PC that wasn't even top of the line then and have had no technical isssue apart from 1 minor visual bug and get 60fps the whole time. Your friend might just have one of those mass made school computers. And, while I agree there is issues with the combat, there being too many ranged enemies and bullet somges on higher difficulties, I found parrying and dodging to not be one of them.

Space marine 2 is not perfect in any sense, the grind is excessive, enemies can't be stumbled out of attack animations, and there is a lack of content in regards to longevity, but I don't think it's worth this hatred you seem to have for it.

There was a patch yesterday that fixes melee almost completely and makes the AI bots more helpful. I say go back, set it to normal and just give it another shot on your own. See if maybe you were holding it to a higher standard than you normally would because you were critiquing it with friends.

Some modding discord claims these are in the game files, sure hope they aren't paid DLC.

Additional image. I think Saber was allowed to add older helmets, just not firstborn armors. They will still technically be primaris. Primaris Sternguard kits have MK VI and VII helmets in their box too.
If this is legit, Raven Guard boys gonna be eatin good.

The best argument one can make about good guys is that there is no "global" faction.
There is. It's the Ultramarines. I wish it wasn't the case but it's necessary to have a boy-scout superhero faction that can contrast to every other faction. How else would you know of the Blood Angels cursed existence, or the edginess of the Night Lords, or the funky bedlam of the Orks, or the aloof brutality of the Dark Eldar. A setting has to have posterboys or else you end up with bland, forgettable and boring (ie: the entire Jedi order of star wars)

As a big Raven Guard fan I do want to see the Corvus MK VI pattern in game, and even if Assault is still underwhelming it just would look better/cooler with that helmet.

Most armours were mixable by design post Mark 4. Mark 5 was made with interchangeability in mind and it carried over. So this would make sense minus GW suit autism.

Perhaps the devs sweet talked them into greenlighting older helmets.

One of the mods made your marines into Deathwatch, but that is currently not working. So the animations and all other stuff worked well.

We could have likely gotten any mark from 4 to 8 too if it was not for those meddling greedy suits.

Hell, they still don't have any lore other than something about being weird clones or some shit? And their votan computer things that might be STCs are laggy because they need a reboot after millennia or something. You would think that what is basically a new faction would launch with... I dunno, a book other than the codex with it's little 1 paragraph bits of lore would make sense but all they got so far is a short story that's mostly about necrons if I remember right. Such a half-assed thing, might as well ignore them if GW themselves ignores them.
Their codex fleshes out their society and back story pretty well. Try reading it.
I don't see how a few mediocre BL novels would make a big difference. Especially when shit like this is what you'd get:

Technically it's just a Primaris helmet with a beak slapped on. That's all Raven Guard have gotten on the tabletop and I wouldn't expect more.
It's really interesting to contrast the time SM1 came out to SM2. In SM1 they took space marine armor and made whatever artificer armor they wanted out of it, artists had freedom. Now we have primaris and they're only allowed to make perfect recreations of the models. It's just so horribly soulless, just like primaris themselves.
Only the Mk7 helmet is truly an older pattern thing, but that's approved through the new sternguard kit(which is just more copy paste primaris with like 2 older helmet options). And actually those helmets might also just be modified primaris helmets, but I haven't looked at them closely enough.

Was wanting to ask; which W40K game do you guys think is the best in general? I've been thinking about grabbing one of them, but I'm not entirely sure as of yet; SM2 looks great, but I keep hearing people on here bitching that it's "woke" somehow. I've heard Boltgun is solid, but I haven't heard much on that one at all. Same with Rouge Trader.

Any suggestions?
DOW1 or GTFO

DOW2 had better voice acting
I have one word that will refute all of that:
"SIIINDRIII!"
And a video:
I dare you to tell me Scott McNeil wasn't enjoying the hell out of the delicious, Null-approved cheese he was feasting on when he voiced those lines.

Any Chaoschads here ever get that dopamine hit where just start putting parts together and you realize you’re building a daemon engine that you didn’t set out to?

I imagine Ork players and Genestealers also get this hit when they make magic.

McNeil is a treasure, master of cheese, especially when he played a down syndrome wasp.

If Stanley Kubrick had ended up directing that 40k movie, current-day 40k would've revolved around the Inquisition rather than the Space Marines.
just a thought.

Like an absolute normie I’ve grown a interest in this thanks to the space marine 2 game I’m still going thru the campaign but I’m learning more lore on the side.
Nurgle has truly been great to learn about.

I genuinely believe 40K as a movie could only work in a few genres. War movie, Alien invasion, crime drama & political thriller / spy movie.
War movie - PDF vs rebellious clergy or ork waagh.
Alien Invasion - A good old fashioned Tyranid invasion.
Crime drama - Arbites vs gangers
Political thriller / spy - Inquisition investigation looking into the actions of a corrupt planetary governor.

Comedy movie - Just add Orks and let them fight in an Rok each other out of boredom.

Romantic Comedy - Slannesh cultists...Before the aforementioned Rok crashes down near them.

Survival Horror - The end result of the above.

There, I now qualify as an BL writer.
