Like Arch will remove his video without a legal threat. The guy lives for drama. He's just another Quartering.

Well shit, I take back what I said

He did jump the gun however with his video. Which is common with him.

I very recently started looking into WH40K after all the talk of how much it derived from Dune. So far I've only watched lore videos on YouTube - Luetin09's playlist is a better watch than most TV shows - and I'm really digging this setting. In some ways it surpasses Dune even. It's rare for a setting on a galactic scale to actually feel galactic in scale.

Dunno if I'll be collecting any toy soldiers any time soon, but I'm curious about the novels. Are they worth reading? (the best ones, I don't see myself reading anywhere near all of them).

There are definitely a lot of good books, and just as many bad/mediocre ones

The setting is fine... at least for now.

Try the Space Wolf series. Start with it if you can. They are rather out of date but its most likely small stuff, like Predator being a general tank and not SM only.

In fact it holds up very well despite its age, so the original 4 books are a great start. It is narrated from the view of a newly made Space Wolf, so it explains fairly a lot of stuff naturally.

What I would not suggest is the Horus Heresy series, as it is a bloated mess with many writers, and the Gaunt series, which is not only out of date as well, but the author hates chaos marines and shits on them enough to make Karen Traviss blush.

Eisenhorn from the same author is fine though, though the sequels fall off in quality.

I seen this a while ago and it surprised me it’s taken this long for he to license out for the plushie market.

This whole event is gonna leave people’s memories faster then black on black crime now.
Not for me.
"NornQueenAlexis" will forever be synonymous with "bootlicker."

I personally recommend Helsreach by Aaron Dembski-Bowden (the novel I read that got me into 40K) as well as the following:
Horus Rising by Dan Abnett
Know No Fear by Dan Abnett
Death of Integrity by Guy Haley
The Siege of Castellax by C. L. Werner
The Night Lords Omnibus (contains the Night Lords Trilogy by Aaron Dembski-Bowden)
The Iron Warriors Omnibus by Graham McNeill (or at least Storm of Iron)
Gaunt's Ghosts by Dan Abnett (despite some objections from users here)
Ciaphas Cain - Hero of the Imperium series by Sandy Mitchell.
Eisenhorn series by Dan Abnett.

Its not a novel but once you get a decent bit comfortable with the setting/lore I'd recommend something called the All Guardsmen Party.

Yes its just a fucking /tg/ storytime but its honestly good and I would argue it rivals some of the novels at times and I don't just mean the shit ones.

Oak needs to go buy himself a crayon factory given how many times he's short on them to explain things to the party.

Here is a love machine's not fuckin lazy guide to starting to paint.

1. Pick the faction you want to paint. Personally I would say pick what you actually think it's interesting, but generally loyalist marines are the simplest.
2. Pick a color scheme for you want to paint. The relevance of this matters to you and whatever game you're playing.
3. Pick up a basic box of infantry for whatever game you're playing. Sure one model is cheaper, but 5 to 10 will give you room to actually experiment and learn. You only get better by experimenting. If you want even more fodder, get a bag of plastic dinosaurs
4. Get the color of paints you need. Brand? Doesn't really matter, but try to get something branded for miniature or model painting. The amount of colors you need? I would watch some simple guides around your scheme. Want blue guys? Try an ultramarine guide etc etc.
5. Paint! Maybe watch a beginner guide etc. Just fuckin paint them.
6. Try asking around, see what people have to say about your first couple models.

Tools I HIGHLY recommend.
Brushes. A smol one, a medium one, and a larger one.
A hobby knife
Plastic and super glue
An army painter wet pallet.

If you give me something you actually want to paint, I'll can be more specific.
A set of files and a sprue clipper is mandatory unless you want ugly mold lines or have model parts get wrapped trying to pry models off their sprues by hand. But get them at a hardware store for cheap as the hobby brand ones are overpriced.
