I have been listning to Alpharius: Head of the Hydra, And I really really dig it. I found the XX Primarch to be so fascinating in comparission to his brothers. I like how the story is told from his PoV and how his minds works. Alpha Legion is one of my favorite legions for a reason (they being more black ops then super soldiers etc) and the book gives me another reason to love them (Legion is among the best WH40k books ever written).

Enjoying it a lot. Only have a few hours left and I’d say it’s pretty solid. The whole fall to Chaos feels organic unlike other chaos legion books like the Death Guard and that’s coming from a Death Guard fan. Just be prepared to retread a lot of the same ground from the og trilogy since it’s just the Emperor’s Children POV of the conflict. Fulgrim doesn’t come across like a mustache twirling cartoon villain (at first) and I appreciate it.

On one hand I do hope GW adds more grimdark elements to the space dwarfs so there not just "imperium but less shit".

I don't do a lot with resin, but I've had good luck with "Perfect Plastic" putty when filling in seams/gaps in minis or plastic model kits. It's water-soluble and sculpts and sands pretty easily. Tamiya White is also decent, but it's a solvent-based product and holy moly can you smell it.

Is there a good place to get warhammer .stl files? I've scrounged a few decent ones off the usual popular sites but it seems like GW is pretty strict with their copyright enforcement there. Part of me believes there's an underground compendium somewhere but I'm so new to the game that I haven't been able to dig anything up yet.

3dscult has tons of free models, some are named weird to get around those issues. Try looking for specific Chapters and you can usually branch from there. For paid I like MartaPunk for Black Templars and StationForge for Mechanicus/Krieg but mostly try to support creators who pump out good stuff by buying/subscribing here and there. AtlanForge is a favorite and he makes Carcharodons too. And before it got taken down by salty plebs, the 40k3DPrint discord used to have a Mega of free files. Maybe /tg/ has an upload somewhere.

/tg/ has a 40k STL trading telegram. Watch the threads, you have to solve a simple lore puzzle to get in to keep the tourists and the modern GW staff out. There are shitloads of other STL trading telegrams linked in that one.

I haven't been there in a long time, didn't know about that. It's a personal thing not trading in paid files though.
Does /tg/ still trade Codex pdfs/epubs? I have no issue being a hypocrite ripping GW off for their expensive books.

GW hired a shithead to supervise the community and issue takedowns for any iP issues. That was around when the STL MEGA started getting targeted constantly et all. At the same time, for the first I ever noticed, the /tg/ pdfs started getting taken down on the regular, too.
They still host them but last I looked it was harder to get them.
But then again, there's a generic PDF thread usually up. For example:

Well, the Tau were supposed to be grimlite and they turned out to be Communist MKUltra victims who have been undergoing a eugenics program for 5000 years and openly perform replacement theory on human worlds they take over via literal subversion tactics straight out of an Maoist Antifa playbook. That's pretty damned grimdark and that's before the 4th expansion stuff happened and whoops, now there are Khornite Tau. Of course, if you're new, you don't really get that full dose of the lore, either, so you can enjoy Tau just by going "hey look Anime Weeb Mecha guys."
I'm willing to give GW a chance to not screw up the Squats. We already know they're AI worshippers worshipping dying AIs with their civilians all being genetically modified and with a not-insignificant chunk of their population being not-Iron Men. There's all kinds of ways they can fuck that up. (Just off the cuff? Genetic templates failing, AI crashing, them deciding they need fresh human DNA, them deciding to sacrifice the Imperium to save themselves, them worshipping the Void Dragon, hell, there could be a fucked up explanation as to why they didn't die from the Tyranids eating them all like they were definitely recorded as having been. What if these are like, the Squats from another timeline invading the main 40k timeline through the great rift?)
I really wanna know the lore for Imperium / Kin interactions. Are the Imperium going to try and claim the Squats are humans and thus need to obey or exterminatus? Is there going to be a running thing where AdMech and Inquisitors and the Ecclesiarchy all end up going missing when they try to fuck with the Squats?
Wait, if they're not-Imperium... might we be getting "Chaos Squats?"

Do I really have to wait for every new edition for a primaris character on bike. GW has to see the sales of the Bike Chaplain to know people want new versions of this. On top of the fact we seemingly need to wait for Space Marine 2 to release to get primaris jump packs as well.
Inceptors are Gravis jump packs but the Suppressors are actually *not* Phobos armor as many think its called Omni its the stuff Primaris Shrike wears too apparently.
