Valrak trying to shill for the nerfhammer 40k rules before they even come out

Rumor that Toughness is gone is true

Datasheets and army rules will now be free?

10th Edition is "4th Tyrranic War," the largest Tyranid swarm ever seen, coming from Segmentum Pactifica (the Galactic West, right into Terra).

Terminators are both Primaris and Firstborn, Cawl did not modify the tech (these aren't Terminator Mk2 Cawl) but they are upscaled now, taller than even the Primaris. (I want my damned Custodes truescale.)

They're trying to ape One Page Rules -- basically instead of codexes you'll have a single page (or two?) with all the rules for your army. They also mentioned that "If you play Ultramarines you'll use one page, but if you decide to play Ultramarines 1st Company next time, you'll pick their page instead."

Very odd.

Boarding actions and KT is enough side games for me, maybe I'll check out the combat patrol one eventually

They're rebooting Combat Patrol. Again. Again. No, actually, again again again. They're hoping to make them playable against each other fairly out of the box.

Who the hell are they kidding?
I suspect that there's going to be freely-available Combat Patrol datasheets that will be different from regular 40k. The idea will be that Combat Patrol games are played without all the additional rules of codices, and the special datasheets will buff the underpoints box sets to be on par with the overpoints box sets. This will better allow for Combat Patrol box sets to serve as entry points for new players, and they'll continue to be balanced separately from regular 40k as new codices and rules bloat are released.

how do i get into this franchise
You wait until the summer to get a new 10th Edition launch/starter set and rulebook. Unless you really want to play Necrons in which case you best get them on discount via 9th Edition starter sets while you still can.

Or if you're impatient, you can get painting supplies and a Combat Patrol box set for whatever faction you most fancy.

Or you can play Kill Team if you want single-squad engagements.

Or you can play Horus Heresy if you just want Space Marines versus Space Marines.

Or you can play Necromunda Hive War/Ash Wastes if you want gang wars.

Or you can play Adeptus Titanicus if you want giant robots.

Or before you spend a big amount of money, you can get this introductory book to learn about what the fuck the hobby even is.

Or you can play one of the many video games. Space Marine is a good choice that's very direct, and it's currently $9 for only ten more hours.

Or you can read one of the many novels or short story anthologies.

warhammer40000.com is supposed to be a landing site for newcomers like you, but it's currently being renovated for 10th Edition.

A couple of protips:
  • Don't buy from GW directly unless it's as a last resort. There are a lot of online retailers who sell stock for 15% off, including eBay.
  • YouTube has an endless amount of painting tutorials.
  • Wahapedia is a popular third-party compilation of all the current rules.
  • You can find yourself PDFs of the current rulebooks and faction codices if you go looking.

Why did they give the lion shitmaris armor? At least guiliman didn't have shitmaris armor, I would rather have an armor of 1st born short kings then the uninspired shitmaris because atleast I don't have to buy a whole new box just to give my space marines plasma guns.
Because their new team doesn't know how to make the old armor anymore.

i meant lore wise sorry
Oh, well in that case, you find a PDF of the current 9th Edition rulebook and you read it. After that, you then find the PDFs of the current 9th Edition codices for whatever factions that interest you and read those. Beyond that, there are further game books with additional lore as well as plenty of Black Library novels and short stories (with audiobook versions) about whatever factions that interest you.

Fuck loreTubers, wikis, and other second-hand accounts. Get your lore straight from the primary source.

Are they also going to announce this as "playtested to perfection" like they did when 9th came out.
