And/or cute.

How many weeks away are we from the first fat FAQ that makes 10th somewhat playable. I thought one of the key advantages of keeping everything digital was running changes would be a lot faster and precise than having to wait months for an overpriced and outdated CA tome.

They said something about July and I've heard people saying this week, but who knows. Though James being more willing to update shit doesn't mean they'll do it in a proper and measured form. Also, hot take of mine is that they are desperate to cap down the really OP shit but probably won't do fuck all for the underperformers for a while.

Iirc it's this week. They specifically mentioned hitting Wraithknights, Fate Dice and Desolation Marines specifically.

Imo it's still gonna be a shitshow for another 6 months at least, which is a shame because 9th was just getting to a good spot (mostly) then they undid so much with 10th.

Don't get me wrong, my local group and I are still playing either OPR or arks of omen. It's just that some got their hopes up with all the drastic changes and new streamlining. I knew this was a total rushjob as soon as I looked at the striking scorpion exarch's datasheet; they literally copy-pasted it from initial 9th, wrong gear option and everything. No oversight.

probably depends how (if) GW gathers feedback, and how long they take to incorporate it. ideally they would simply involve the community at large since the majority will want a balanced game and even if not is offset by everyone wanting to buff his own dudes. that's why imho OPR will always be superior because that's exactly what they do (and not pushing major changes to sell more plastic crack), same when it comes modelers and their community.

OPR 3.0 will hopefully be out in a month or 2, so should be an ideal moment to get people to try it while 10th keeps burning in a hole.
haven't anything seen about 3.0 so far, but haven't been following print stuff etc that much the last few months.

even missed OPR has their own bolter bitches now:

like the chunkiness and faces that look actually female, but not sure about the pauldrons (probably necessary so GW's lawyer don't get their panties in a twist).
it's also nice to see they cooperate with ghamak, he's doing official stats now: https://www.ghamak.com/opr-rules/

also modiphius apparently bought 5parsecs/5leagues from ivan sorensen, gonna have to wait and see if that's good or bad. however it lead to something like this:

5 leagues when? hopefully artisan guild for fantasy stuff

There's some deets in the discord but I file all of that as teases till it's out (poison to be much weaker and not stack with rending for example). What I do know is it's been in the oven for like a year and a half and they are doing a final pass so expect to release it in 1 month (though I'm assuming that will be optimistic and be closer to 2-3 months).

Watched the lucius episode of hammer and bolter. My review for the episode is pretty decent because it's Lucius doing Lucius things. The Exorcists also make an appearance. Only gripe is that the laer blade design is the old shit one and not the most recent neat looking one.

Worth a watch pal? And if so where?

You really thought there was any value to 9th? it feels like a bad nightmare I just woke up from
I tapped out of 9th early due mostly to all of the bloat, but I can't deny that near the end of the edition, "balance" seemed to be pretty decent between the factions. Since they decided to shit out 10th which is still very halfassed, all that has been dumped off a cliff and so the cycle restarts. There is less bloat but the game is still too absurdly lethal for an IGO UGO system and has been desperately asking to be reconsidered into an alternating activation system or go back to the days where something shooting a single lasscannon shot was considered competent antitank.

This is cope. 9th was fucked every way till Sunday. AdMech in particular was absolute dogshit by the end of 9th. I won a tournament locally because all of my opponents were Space Marines and I tabled them within 3 turns with my Orks.
Confident that the only people who have anything nice to say about 9th are people who have been playing the game a lot longer than me and are looking at previous editions with rose tinted glasses.
10th is great. I have another couple games scheduled this week against Death Guard (HA) and CSM.
So far I've played 3 games against Necrons and a game against Dark Angels.
Necron player is really competitve and runs elite list. However, he has a habit of misinterpreting the rules in his favor and I have to watch him like a hawk and know both our armies so I can catch him on his bullshit. I won 1/3 games and the other 2 he cheated for his W, with his interpretation of Necron reanimation and Heroic Intervention ( he claimed it gave him fight first, it does not)
The space marine player had AMAZINGLY painted models, but it was his first game of 10th at 1000 points. He put up a good fight, but he's new to the game so he has a long way to go.

Why would older warhammer fans like anything about 8th or 9th? This doesn't make sense.

Reference to what @Steinercard said earlier. Can't quote/reply for some reason

"I just keep thinking this game would've benefited from a single senior designer with a cohesive vision. Which is how Warhammer started. It was the work of one or two guys with suggestions from other designers. But you could see 4th ed WFB had an identity and consistant design goals different from 8th ed WFB. Same with 40k although that's when the multi designer rot started tbh with 6th ed 40k onwards."

rose tinted glasses for editions before my time.

I assume they suck at keeping talent. It's baffling that 10th edition came in with multiple fuck ups that they had to correct during 9th.

That Votaan happened in 9th yet Eldar released like they did in 10th is pure retardation and that nobody with any memory is involved.

I'd assume that includes talent doing basic quality control and double-checking things...

I'm pretty sure heroic intervention does give fight first. RAW, it gives you a charge in your opponents' charge phase, and charging units get fight first. I've also heard numerous 40k youtube channels say HI gives fight first too.

Otherwise, I totally agree with you. I'm not a competitive player and I'm loving 10th where I really started to hate 9th towards the end. Necrons got so fucked by power creep and GW hates balancing data cards so they turned into an army that tried to run up as many points as they could in 2 turns because you were for sure getting tabled in turn 3.
