I'm pretty sure this is the spot for such talk. I mean, I got a lot of thumbs-up for talking about how based it is to love Space Marines when the OG hippie 40K writers want you to hate them because they're caricatures of right-wing fascist thugs.
Even though a good chunk of the Space Marines are still shown as right-wing fascist thugs to this day?
Also, where did I ever talk about how great Reagan was? All I mentioned was how the OG 40K writers were butthurt that he and Thatcher were right-leaning religious people in charge of the Anglosphere during the 80s. I never acted like they were the greatest things since sliced bread; they just pissed the shit out of some nerds in the 80s to the point where they created things like Warhammer 40K to whine about how shit their religious, right-leaning leaders were.
Wasnt Warhammer originally created because of that miniature deal that fell through with D&D and from there they made 40k, but like fantasy were making the lore on the spot and tried to.make satirical like Judge Dredd was?
Their whining eventually came to serve the very same right-wingers they despised, as the right-leaning folks unironically began to love things like Space Marines and Sisters of Battle, depicting them as selfless heroes who fight for mankind, instead of painting them as religious kooks who need to be thrown in the nuthouse, the way the left-leaning OG 40K writers would have people do.
Even though again, the Sisters of Battle ARE portrayed as religious kooks and some of the Space Marine chapters, so dunno how much of this has changed over the years. Just ya got right wingers gettiny into this and treating this shit super se

Fascist thugs who are fighting tooth and nail to defend humanity from demons and aliens who want to eat/rape/kill them.

When your choice boils down to Hitler/Mussolini/Franco and Satan, most folks would obviously choose the former.

That's the miniature side of things. The story side of things was different; they wanted to make a story to air their grievances about how bad the current right-wing rulers of the anglosphere were.

Because again, they're a bunch of kooks who are defending mankind from the kind of shit that makes Hitler and Torquemada look like boy scouts.

Yeah, yeah. Go fuck the bible some more and rage about "DEM DIRTY COMMIES!!" like a good Raegen-loving faggot, pretty sure /pol/ has a spot for ya.

Anyway, right-wing retards aside. Does anyone here recommend any good 3rd party Ork Models?
Do you really have to be this much of a raging faggot?

Politicking about 40k was always retarded on both sides of the political aisle because it's trying to frame fiction as saying something meaningful about reality. Plus just about every aspect of the series changes according to the writer.

I think the real issue of Emps and religion, is that he tried to do the whole 'Not a god' thing, from atop giant lightning shitting golden pyramids, while being the size of a tank, radiating an aura so strong it can vaporise the weak willed. There was a pretty funny youtube short about that actually.

Yes, but it's always funny whenever it happens.

I'm just waiting for the inevitable Girlyman vs Lion slapfight
It's the kind of thing that's going to happen but doesn't make a lot of sense. It's not like Girlyman changed the Imperium in any meaningful way besides disposing of corrupt individuals, so the Lion has nothing to complain about. It's not Imperium Secondus where he decided to stay put rather than find a way to break out.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Lion never seemed like a guy who gave much a shit for the political part of the Imperium.

The Lion was massively ass blasted about not making it into the Warmaster, despite pretty much every one of his brothers not liking him very much (especially compared to Horus/Sang. So he wanted to be special but couldn't be arsed to actually do the legwork to make people like him.

Are those decks of cards worthwhile? I see a little utility... maybe organize them in a binder for reference. Is all this shit tarot size as far as sleeves are concerned? The mission cards are definitely tarot cards.

Definitely gonna pick up one of those 20 dollar rule books so I don't beat up that other nice one.

Are those decks of cards worthwhile
You mean the datacards? Yes, because you can take just the ones you need and they're a lot easier to reference at the table than a hardcover book. Whether they're good value is another question, because you can get similar content from Battlescribe or Wahapedia for just the price of printing it.

A good chunk of them are probably also already outdated from the assorted quarterly errata.

I remember having this issue with the Netrunner remake a few years back where they were always tweaking shit in the errata and you were never really sure if you were up to date.
With 40k, the easiest way to have the latest and most comprehensive rules on-hand is to ignore GW altogether and go with Wahapedia (or Battlescribe, when it's actually updating), as @Pedophobe mentioned - Waha does an excellent job collating everything, between Indices (for now), Codices, White Dwarf magazines, errata and so on and providing the rules, their sources and update timestamps on said sources.

I tried the 40K app but it sucks and I don't think the APK works right on GrapheneOS.

In what way are they depicted as Fascists specifically? Are we talking about loyalist, traitor or rogue marines? The only Primarch who could be described as Fascist is Horus, who ironically looks like Mussolini, because he didn't believe that humans should rule themselves and opposed the concept of a planetary governor, and that the Primarchs and their legions should rule the planets they conquered. Loyalist space marines aren't rulers, so how could they be Fascists?

Also Fascism is a spinoff of Socialism and is left-wing, not right-wing.
