You go through hellish training, hellish training, to then dedicate your life to only every fighting horrors then dieing in battle. Doesn't matter the chapter. Anyone who wishes they were a space marine doesn't understand the lore.
Eh, it probably would be fun to be a space wolf fighting aliens.

See, this is what I'm talking about. Considering you'd have a decent chance of becoming a wulfen combined with all of the above. No, it would not be fun, you'd be simply brainwashed till you aren't you anymore and it wouldn't not matter.

Your right, I keep forgetting about the indoctrination process. How extensive is that by the way? Like does it completely overwrite your memory or does it just make you fanatical? I assume everyone does it because the soul drinkers didn't do so hot when they stopped.

It doesn't erase everything, but most Space Marines have only vague memories of their life before being inducted, and the hypno-indoctrination ensures that they don't care about anything beyond killing xenos and traitor scum in the name of the Emperor anyway.

So, I guess we can write off that Marneus Calgar comic as noncanon, then?

Nah, Space Wolves is one of the few legions that don't go full indoctrination, that's part of the reason why Wulfen are so common since they don't have the indoctrination to reduce their hyper aggression and competitiveness. Also canonically can still fuck and impregnate women.

I think that's more implied in novels then anything else. Unless they changed something recently GW is quite shy of saying space Marines can do anything directly sexual.

I have a question about those 40 k for kids books. Did anybody read those? I'm curious to see how they handled gene stealers and chaos.

It's way darker than people thought it would, ironically this caused the books to be forgotten since the reactionaries had nothing to complain about and the reactionaries of the reactionaries couldn't complain about them being offended.

Yeah I haven't gotten my hands on it but it seems to be doing what star wars did for galaxy of terror. Or goosebumps perhaps. They finished the run with 6 books.

Im very curious how hard they went on stuff like the lore for stuff like the tau and nurgle. I mean do these kids somehow win or just barely survive?

Even though I am finally wrapping my head around detachments and allied units... I dunno I feel like it could be more straightforward.
You have to select an Army Faction (keyword) for your army. Having a specific army faction unlocks certain detachments, as in "If your Army Faction is Adeptus Astartes, you can use this Sons of Sanguinius Detachment rule." That detachment rule determines what units, strategems and enhancements you can use and gives you a special rule or two.

Currently most armies only have access to one detachment but they'll get more when the codex rulebook for that faction is released. You (usually) can only choose one detachment for your army list.

Allies are handled using a special rule associated with your army faction (or sometimes your ally's faction, it's inconsistent) and the way they work is different in each case. Basically if you have a certain type of army you can include up to a certain amount of units from a different army (e.g. imperial space police can join an imperial giant robot army).

Thank you!

When I get my army built I am going to post it here for criticisms.

Reactionary youtubers folding the moment they dont get their usual "dis is wokeee" bag of easy cash. Next up Andy Dick is gonna tell us that water is wet...

Does anyone use magnets for their model transportation?

I'm trying to find the right size magnets for 40k bases, does anyone have a line on any that fit and work well?

This is something I have been researching. There was a useful reddit post here. Discusses foam vs magnets.

For magnets I have prior experience through my career with the very same companies 40k people use. K&J Magnetics are the best with the most vatiety. But K&J Magnetics are operated by a bunch of holier-than-thou faggots. Therefore Magnet Baron is just fine. Smaller selection but friendlier and they appreciate 40k gamers whereas K&J fancies themselves a more serious magnet dealer. Whatever that means.

As per your question: any N52 magnet wider than an eighth of an inch and thicker than a sixteenth of an inch should do it. Make sure they are N52.

Ty so much. I didnt want to end up on Reddit so I am grateful.

Apologies for double posting but the thread is slow and this is somewhat interesting.

I ran into my first bootleg GW product today. I’ve seen recasts and whatnot over the years, but this was different.

I couldn’t get a vortex beast from GW (sold out in USA, UK site won’t ship to the USA) so I tried hunting one down on the web.

Found a shop that looked semi ok (had I viewed the home page I’d have been wary). Then I get the bad news - Shipped from China 😕

It arrives in just bags, no box or instructions. The plastic is light and has a ton of flashing, and there are thin spots. Worst part? Won’t work with plastic weld. So if I wanted to put this promised bootleg together I’d have to glue it up old school.

Hard pass. Taking the heads and other cool bits for kitbashing and trashing the rest.

But yeah, take a look at this shit. Looks like a poorly scanned copy of the sprue too.

At least I ordered magnets, so that is cool.

Probably a Russian/Chinese recast. 3d printing is the way to go. I dont know what glue you're using but I've noticed that the glue Citadel sells doesn't work on a lot of materials. I always assumed it was a passive anti piracy measure so you can't use their glue on resin models. Either way the super glue you get at harbor freight is more versatile than citadel.

The only point against that is that Tamiya and Revell both make superior plastic glue to GW, and I've never seen Citadel's recommended - Tamiya Extra Thin in particular is literally everything one could ask from a styrene cement.
That said, I'd much rather work with plastic glue (or solvent glues in general) where possible - super glue might be versatile, but it's also awful, and being stuck with it is one of the biggest drawbacks of working with resin models.
