I was talking about getting banned from 40k discord groups by 3d modelers for buying files then giving them away for free and you went off and accused me of being some kind of fake Robin Hood and told me to get over myself. After a brief argument, it only made sense that you had some kind of financial stake in it. You may not actually make 3d models, but it wouldn't make a ton of sense if you don't. You would be the only person I've ever run into that had a significant emotional reaction to file trading that wasn't relying on it for income. If you're telling the truth, it makes you look like a shameless shill and you'd be better off lying and saying you do make 3d models. At least in that scenario you're not doing it for free.
It's not that most players specifically like this, but that the vast majority don't care at all. Many people will probably never even notice until they release female sculpts (and even then). Most people won't read Codex: Custodes or the Warhammer Twitter or any of the retards on Goonhammer, Reddit, ResetEra and so on crowing about it. Even fewer people will read it than otherwise would have because Custodes have traditionally been a tourneyfag army and all the pre-release reporting says that their rules are bad. This is a storm in a teacup, exacerbated by people who don't know the difference between Custodes and Marines.
