I thought about that too, when GW and 40K were becoming popular during the time when Star Wars was imploding. Some 40K fans tried to lure in SW fans, saying that the grass was greener on the 40K side and that it's more based. Well, that didn't stay the same for long. Last Jedi came out in 2017, female Custodes came out in 2024. That took 7 years before 40K got woke, too.

Lord of Excess is right up there with Fulgrim as “the” Slaanesh novel, kinda like how Lords of Silence is the definitive Nurgle novel.

I like that the EC in this are “charisma marines” if any legion can solve things without firing a shot it should be these guys. It’s got some time skips so far and the plot feels like it should’ve been a trilogy but Xantine is joining Decimus, Marduk, Vorx and Honsou as the “book only” Chaos Lords who are far more impressive than their tabletop counterparts who have models.

I hate the Fabius trilogy btw, it watered him down so much and took the badass monster maker who was one of the first corrupted marines (predating the birth of Erebus or the discovery of Chaos) and made him into an egalitarian, mouthpiece for what felt like author criticism of the setting. That shit sucked, the ending fast-tracking him seemingly back to Chaos (compare this man to how he is in Fulgrim and Angel Exterminatus, then try to tell me he’s the same guy) was bull. Also a human woman taking over an EC warband was straight-up bull, we know what these marines do to humans, no way they would listen to a mortal woman.

If I were writing things, it'd be Chaos attempting to create female Space Marines, while the Imperium just won't create them, even if they could, either out of some superstitious fear that the Emperor would strike them down for tampering with his ''perfect'' creations, or out of respect for his example due to him never making female power-armored Space Marines. Kind of like how Catholicism has no priestesses because Jesus Christ had 12 male apostles, no female apostles. Tradition is important in the Imperium, and they'd stick to it even if it hurts them. I honestly should've dropped Warhammer the instant they started policing fan animations, that was the first sign they were going to fumble the ball into the wokesphere, but that was before the Horus Heresy concluded. Now that it has and they pulled this move, I have zero reason to stay invested in the franchise. One of the reasons I was interested in Warhammer is I assumed it would somehow be immune to wokeshit, but that proved to be wrong. There is no point if it's woke.
