Honestly, wanting my hobbies to "have more mainstream appeal" has been the most monkey's paw wish I ever had growing up. I rather a hobby or community died because it gatekept too much than the constant cycle of faggotry we are subjected to right now.

Mmm, didn't know this had such a domino effect, but it really was a stab straight to the heart of the matter. Washington is a wretched and expensive hive, keeping their base there was a huge fuck up, but I remember the owners of the company being high on their own supply.

One of our bigger local stores invested HARD on warmahordes during the tail end of MKII, going all in, full skus in the shop, the whole package. You can imagine how that deal panned out and I can imagine they weren't the only ones savagely burned. It's no surprise that stores avoid anything from Privateer Press except for individual orders.

I get you, I want to agree but my heart isn't in it, I want to see communities thrive even if we all know what happens in the end. No matter how good a community leader it, it will always be subverted to garbage. It's better to die a good hobby than live to see yourself become consumed in Corporatization.

Well, you know the whole "if an organization isn't explicitly right wing, it will become left wing" deal? I've seen it happen way too many times and I have no idea how to stop it without making it be a political circle jerk either. I want my hobbies to be hobbies where I relax from the worlds insanity and not have to bring it up constantly in one direction or the other.

Store owner was baffled/fuming after that one, they did truck along but hooooly shit that was a fucking shit show. The PP implosion is really worth a 2 hour documentary going into each and every single fuck up. They really are the "what not to do" template.

Oh it kept getting worse and worse. At one point they had some molds go missing from a factory in china(and couldn't afford to reproduce them). The location they moved to and signed the lease on after the eminent domain thing wasn't zoned for manufacturing so it was either the city or county that told them to get fucked and they couldn't produce metal minis in-house. They hired some guy who was involved with the GW retail operations and trying to right that trainwreck(cut staff in stores, cut hours stores were open, etc.) who had moved onto running a distribution company primarily selling PP product to the EU(which was also when a lot of people in the EU were constantly complaining about a lack of product availability) to try and streamline the company as a president or whatever for a year, he just coasted into retirement. Hell, that game I forgot the name of that added more Warmahordes SKUs... Riot Quest. Someone could easily fill a 90 minute documentary covering the monumental fuckups of privateer press between 2014 and 2019.

A monkey's paw is certainly the best way to describe it. Even without the ESG/DEI bullshit it's as simple as morons manipulating statistics. This shit is why you get other IPs so watered down no one cares anymore. They hear that some black single mother with 2 children who plays candy crush or whatever the fuck on her phone for an hour a week is a gamer, and try to add shit to appeal to her in their first person shooter. The end result is something watered down that no longer draws the original fanbase, and was never going to draw in Shaniqua or whatever the fuck in the first place because she was never going to play a first person shooter. But the focus group testing showed that she might have a mildly increased interest... that never turns into dollars.

It's the same reason why GW quit selling the female space marine models back in the 80s. That shit didn't bring women into the hobby then, stores didn't want to stock the shit(because it didn't sell) and it won't sell now. Pretty sure it's already been discussed.. hardly anyone ever sees women(who do exist playing 40k, without being a problem) playing sisters of battle. It's always tyranids, necrons, maybe eldar or some shit like that. And that's perfectly fine. But no, somewhere a focus group happened and someone with or pretending to have a vagina might have said that they'd be more interested in the game they've never looked at if there was a female character on the cover... and that's how we get femstodes of which that person will never actually show any interest in the product again.

I...have to agree, which sucks. Left wing nutjobs seem to infiltrate everything these days. You just have to correctly gatekeep I guess. Not too much, not too little, make the content of community contributions drive away the normies and troons. Thing about troons is that they can claw their way into anything. Complex? Simple? Down-right hostile? Take SCP for example. Troons took it, turned it into a safe space, kicked all the old guard out, they faded into the background or went to alternatives like RPC. Alternatively, look at Kiwifarms, you keep the filth largely out and they go after what keeps you afloat. Money, internet service, servers, cloud, the jannies identities, etc. Remember, they're "the good guys." Only thing you can do is keep it niche and have a tight knit community. Or only interact with people you genuinely like and ignore all the garbage...for as long as you can at least.

No he's actually very wholesome and mostly covers lore stuff, theories, lore updates etc.
Can't think of a single politicized video he's made, left or right. He just turns 5 minutes of content into 15-20 minutes by talking slow as hell.

Problem was, those FSM models were basically early versions of Sisters of Battle, before they became sexy battle nuns, they had these shitty metallic models that nobody liked cause they looked like roadkill.

A lot of their minis from the time looked like shit, and GW's lack of ability to paint faces has never helped them over the years.

Doesn't change that having female characters didn't generate sales, and resulted in just cutting them. Obviously we don't have the sales figures, but unless everyone at GW was completely retarded at the time, if those minis had made up any real percentage of profit(compared to anything else they were selling), they'd have been remodeled and continued on after rogue trader rather than needing to wait another 5 years or so to be released as sisters of battle(which still never drew a massive base of female buyers, and then continued to not do so 20 years after that with another revamp of the range).
 
So how many of you intend to stick around for Warhammer after this? I know for certain that @The tired cat is digging in his heels, but who else? Also for those staying, how much worse will Warhammer have to get before you eventually ditch it, or will you just ignore any lore rape coming down the pipeline and stick with lore behind a cutoff line of your choosing?

I prefer the HH lore and setting so I’m fine, it’s literally the brotherman vs brotherman game so I know that won’t be fucked with.

Modern 40k has been shit for awhile, this is nothing new but importantly, I’m not going anywhere. I paint, I listen to audio books/read and might get a game in once a month. I’m not getting ran out of this hobby, I’ve already put money down on by a bunch of soggy underpaid Black Library writers.
