The most fun 40k books I found were the Ork ones that over the top and fun, and still wanna read/listen Ciaphas Cain series.

Cain is good. Gets a little formula in the middle but there's a lot of solid books.

“The Last Church” is so unintentionally funny because the priest bodies the Emperor (and fedora-tippers everywhere) by countering his gay “muh illogical nonsense” with “I have faith” and spelling out why the Emperor was always doomed to fail.

but now that requirement has clearly been removed and yet, theres no female model, instead they released a shield captain, a model that you literally build out of the contents of every single custodes kit they make thats not a dreadnought or land raider.

Imo GW isn’t very good at editing and this was one of those “better to ask for forgiveness than permission” type of things. Their twitter has also always been woke too, not sure who they outsourced for that. Their Facebook guy(s)/contractors for a time would shit on PETA and female Space Marines.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some gay ops between some of the writers and social media influencers on discord or slack. I wish I had an inside look at what happened behind the scenes. It had to be quite autistic.

It used to be a lot higher because of Covid, but after 2020 it's been a roller coaster since GW made one bad decision after another. Games Wokeshop has cracks in the wall, but it's going to take a lot of time and other things to happen. It took years for Disney and Lucasfilm to fall apart. Yes, whales, tourneyfags, and scalpers will keep forking money to GW, but it's not going to last forever. Whales run dry and will walk away from stuff if something goes bad (look at gacha games). Tourneyfags will always be a small portion of the hobby, and scalpers aren't going to chase after every fomo if they're not making profit off of cucks like Discourse after seeing Dominion and the Black Templars flop (I guarantee you there were more flops). Less people are going to throw money at overpriced models with bad sculpts and other made-in-China products you can find better versions of at cheaper prices (paints, brushes, etc). Warhammer+ already lost millions because it sucks. There's no way to spin around the fact Age of Shitmar is a successful failure, but 4.0 might push more people away from it or fantasy in general. Nobody is playing any of the shitty video games based off Shitmar, and Age of Shitmar is still not a household name after 9 years of Games Wokeshop forcing this turd down your throats. Is anyone even happy how Games Wokeshop is treating Blood Bowl, Warcry (what the fuck did they do to Warcry?!), Necormunda, and their other side games?!

This is not going to be overnight. It's going to take years. Another thing to note is if they want normies to buy shitty models, they better get a reality check because a parent will probably prefer to buy a Fortnite skin for their kid than fork $500+ on a shitty, imbalanced board game that will collect dust.

The stories make zero sense in lore but for the most part they are competently told. If you are really attached to the narrative you give them a pass. Still as a book of fables they are decent.

GW hasn't given the whales a reason to quit, the tourneyfags will always hang on to whatever GW does so they can chase the meta, and the scalpers will continue scalping, especially since GW introduces artifical shortages to jack up the prices, so scalpers will always have a healthy market.

So long as these three fine pillars of the community remain, GW aren't going anywhere. Their value will continue to fluctuate, but never peter out or collapse completely.

I think it's a stretch, tolkien itself based at lot of stuff on existing folklore, and story/worldbuilding-wise you'll eventually run into the same archetypes to a degree. like you could write a fae and an evil elf, and besides the name there wouldn't be much difference. tolkien doesn't even have evil elves from what I remember, basically any setting would thus be "non-tolkien".

I think it was simply coordinated between writers specifically. If the suits made the decision there’d be a 70 dollar limited edition femstodes mini, a book, and an upgrade sprue that’s 35 dollars.

New sprues cost a pretty penny and custodes ones are still newish. You will get a female character model, specially as a tie in with the Amazon show if that happens or maybe a new unit with some female heads next edition. But no way in hell they are redoing the core custodes sprues to add some butch lesbian hair variants till at least 5 more years pass.
