I've gotten pretty heavily back into BF1 the last week or so and it gave me an idea. I'd love to see a Battlefield 40k game. make it Guard vs. Traitor Guard, and feature most if not all of the most famous Guard Regiments on different maps. I'd love to see Catachans, Mordian Iron Guard, Praetorians, Armageddon Steel Legion, Tanith First & Only, Kriegers, Valhallans, Tallarns , Cadians and Vostroyans facing off against all manner of Traitor Guard regiments. You could give the players tons of different varieties of lasguns, autoguns, and specialist weapons like plasma, flamer, or melta weapons. The IG already has plenty of different tanks, walkers, and aircraft to make one hell of a fun game. All the basic structure for a genuinely great 40k game is already there.

I don't even think they make miniatures so most of these anymore but I want my confederate imperial guard I'm gonna paint them in Gray

It comes up, but it turns out all you have to do is ask them if they're going to eventually play, paint some minis, read some books, or basically anything actually involving participating in the hobby to any degree whatsoever other than watching lore videos on youtube, and they leave.
That’s the biggest filter for a lot of culture war tourists.
It's not even just about the nogames, they really have zero participation even as simple as reading a PDF of a codex or something. It's not just /tg/ either, you see it on dakkadakka as well with the greybeards who haven't played/read/painted/whatever in 20 years but want to proclaim from the mountain tops why the version you're currently playing is awful, why some character they know nothing about is awful, and how the game was better when there was no tactical aspect and the main objective was to just table the opponent with imbalanced terrain.
Grognards are always going to be like that, and most will continue to be like that because they not only don’t even play, but they’ve never even looked at the modern game enough to see that things have been made better. It’s like that with battletech as well where guys who haven’t played since FASA owned it are sure to tell you that you shouldn’t play anything past clan invasion and even then clan omnimechs are terrible.
I'll admit GW is a shitty company that produces overpriced product. But... I also had fun this weekend getting a game in. I can read a BL book and as long as it's not utterly god awful, laugh at how corny the shit can be. And as autistic as it sounds, painting minis is basically just 3d coloring books but is relaxing for a bit after work.
I’m always going to love tabletop gaming, even if I can’t paint for shit and have to depend on gimmicks like speedpaints. For me it’s the getting out and playing games with other people and being able to sit there and play games with some of the guys I know and enjoy the company of.
The people who have never done anything with it, or haven't in decades but spend so many hours every day posting about it and arguing about it, is something I cannot wrap my head around.
Dakkadakka and goonhammer have convinced me that there are a lot of people, most like this, that you’re better off just ignoring if you can. A guy in the local scene here has dropped his tyranid army and has picked up battletech alpha strike because he’s been convinced by someone on YouTube that SJWs are killing the game and battletech is nonwoke (which is hilarious).

Currently waiting for my totally legit order from Игровая мастерская to ship. $32 ruinstorm daemon brutes is hard to pass up compared to the $138 the br*t*sh are asking for
I'm slowly gathering kits for a Ruinstorm army and mantic have good minis from their Abyss faction which would make great looking units painted up.

Been away, saw Necromunda got some kino

This Genestealer Tech Priest, this is what we want for Dark Mechanicum. Gonna buy one of these when it comes available.
That's honestly neat as fuck and something I never even considered could be a thing. Also, very easy to hide your deformities between the cloaks and tech.

/tg/ suffers the most from theory hammer or the idea of talking about the idea of playing games the most. Not just Warhammer but tons of what theoretical scenarios/campaign ideas either made as YouTube text to speech bait or bait in general.

The boards also dying threads stay up for weeks almost and generals flood everything.

What do you mean guys 40k is basically just lore discussion and bitching about games workshop

Generals have certainly flooded everything for at least the better part of a decade, but regardless of whether the board is dying (and there are certainly faster), threads autosage after one week after the jannies grew tired of years of complaints about Bumpfag (who may or may not even exist), so nothing will stick around for much longer than that.

On-topic, Codex: Imperial Agents has at last been announced, with three underwhelming-looking Battleforces. It seems the Deathwatch has found its new home, as expected, while Grey Knights will get their own Codex eventually.

Wow, those are dog shit battleforces. I'm actually amazed. GW are not even hiding the fact that they're dumping the worst selling models into one box. Hereticus one at least looks like a decent starter box, but there's still no reason to buy more than one.
Also, that Malleus inquisitor looks straight out of AoS.

Inquisitorial Agents are a pretty good high ranked Kill Team. They have a nice depth with all the different units they can bring and you need 2 boxes to get a full set (and end up with an extra scribe and scroll in at a complete loss as what to do with). Arbites are kind of mid tier and are really hampered by a lot of their rules being for specific wound models when there’s a ton of space marine options and intercessors just rape. Dont think I’ve seen anyone even use the Rogue Trader KT. But yeah seems they’re using this to have a whole army of misfit units. I’m kind of excited if Death Watch gets actual rules that aren’t dogshit.

I see a lot of grumbles over the loss of death watch as an army but honestly…full death watch armies never sat well with me. I love Death Watch as an idea and have been building up bits to build 2 squads of death watch because they deploy mostly in squads with maybe storm trooper support but that’s barely. Even the death watch rpg said Watch fortress were made up of 5 squads at max with others mostly running one or two so about 10 marines.

Full death watch armies always tickled my tsim especially if the guy was lazy and used the same chapter badges in an army.

Not gonna lie, I don't hate it. Makes a lot more sense for Deathwatch to get merged into the Imperial Agents than having their own bare-bones codex.

I like that they combined Arbites with sisters into Hereticus. Makes them a proper police force equipped to fight lower level threats. All they need is a plastic Repressor and fanatics from that old White Dwarf book.

All they need to do is confirm scions/storm troopers being usable in this codex and I’d argue it’s a good addition then.

They also should add in the ability to use regular space marines too. I’m a marine slave with to much power armor but I’d finally do Red Hunters if they let us combine Storm troopers+marines+inquisitorial goons

It really does make sense for DW to end up there, and it's not like anyone who had a DW army even lost anything, they just gained a bunch of extra crap to be able to include with their army if they want. Plus, GW even said in the same article they're still space marines so you can just use the space marine codex with the imperial agents codex(same as the SM codex plus DW supplement last edition) anyway, and get access to the 7 extra space marine detachments if you want to still run a purely DW army.

I like how this mini from a distance passes as a regular tech priest (not counting the critter) it’s only up close that you see how fucked up his shit is.

Regardless I’m grabbing one, as always the side games produce the superior minis.

The real horrifying thing is he's immortal -- whenever he dies, the hive mind recreates him, individuality and memories intact, all so he can go back to genetically engineering the tyranids to be more dangerous and deadly. Which means the nids now have the nascent ability to directly edit their own genome, instead of having to eat other lifeforms and pick and choose the best genetics from them -- only held back by the fact that he's an AdMech at heart and thus kinda fucking stupid with tech.

/tg/ is also full of mean spirited people who just have to be the worst faggots and tell people they’re either nogames or to neck themselves in response to valid criticism of games or the companies. None of it’s salvageable at this point.
