I saw someone who painted the plasma coils as brass/bronze instead of glowing bullshit, and it looked different enough to leave an impression. Might give it a try on mine.
I do that on volkite weapons for my Heresy armies. I like the way it looks and it helps break up the color scheme a bit so it's not all just gunmetal or black weapon cases. I bet it works really well on plasma weapons too.

Do you have a picture? That sounds interesting.
Not offhand, will look and see if I saved it or bookmarked it. I do remember it was a bog standard space marine, and the gun was black and darker gunmetal, so the bronze/brass stood out while still fitting the overall darker tones. Glowing coils would have REALLY stood out, but, in a bit of an offputting way imho.

Can we talk about Warhammer painting trends that we hate in this thread?

Because top of the list for me would have to be 'synthwave' style paintjobs. Obnoxious high contrast neon pinks and blues with airbrush fades here, there and everywhere.

It's tacky, it's ugly, I don't think it fits with the setting at all, it's more often than not done very low-effort and lazily and I don't think it's any fucking coincidence that it was pioneered by a fat fucking tranny.
That troon is really weird. He feuds with some absolute nobodies I know and is trying to drive them out of Warhammer because he was slightly annoyed by a random tweet. We’re talking people with double or low three digit followers. Just normal lads with no influence or real following. He’s obsessed.

Could be worth his own thread one day as no doubt his brain gets more scrambled each year.

I know it's pretty much just color schemes but it's nice to see how many chapters you can pick. Also, fuckin' microtransactions. Ahh, companies and saying "there's no MTX" yet include MTX anyway goes hand in hand. "It's not MTX, it's DLC!" Rope, now.
Dripped out.

Haha, I just found his channel yesterday. God it looks fucking a w f u l. I mean, it's his channel and models so I'm not going to shit on him too much, and clearly he has an audience for it, but man that's just shit.

also just a friendly reminder anybody who's into muscle mommies is a gay
also there's this one guy cannot stand who looks like a soy boy who made this video are chaos actually the good guys no no they're not.

Has anybody ever experimented with painting corn demons white with blood highlights I wanna try it out but I don't know how it's going to look

WIP Imotehk the Storm Lord. It's about 95% complete and I just need to figure out if I want to highlight the black grey or blue.

I made a lot of use of contrast paints on this model. Pylar Glacier for the glowing orbs and scarabs, Black Templar for the chest and staff, Terradon Turquoise for blades and Aeldari Emerald for the cape. All except go well over any metallics except Pylar Glacier which needs a white under to do its thing and look good.

Kek, the spikey men are the heroes, they want you to think otherwise corpsegoy

Pale white is great for Chaos flesh tones, whenever I deviate from the “traditional” colours for daemons I make the eyes that god’s colour, same if I go off-model for the standard daemons.

Cause daemons in theory should not be uniform

It's unfortunate that it was made by a tranny but I think the color scheme is fine and it's certainly unforgettable

Gods what a fuck-ugly colour design and emblem.
The only time a guardsman should have anything pale blue is if they're supposed to be some kind of arctic soldier, not a canva-built 'definitely not' hong kong toy soldier.

The synthwave stuff was okay. Emphasis on was. It looked cool a grand total of once, and then beyond that point became woefully overdone to the point where it isn't even unique or special, just dogshit.

I don't know that it warrants a whole thread. What is there to say? Shitty game dev wants to rape your wallet, ransoms the game you bought for 4 days after launch until you pay them more money, and lied about there being no microtransactions. The gameplay is probably fine and if you're a good paypig you wont think about it. Just consume product, then get excited for next product.

New games are almost a $100+ here in Cuckanada

Plus it’s flavour of the month fodder, it’ll move some Primaris kits and if we’re lucky then the TS guys and Tyranid chads will get some new shit due to the spotlight.

Zahndrekh

should really get a book series is it delusional brilliant general who occasionally pretends to be insane but is actually insane and has a loyal bodyguard who always protects him.
Trevon the infinite novels wouldn't be great you could just have him going around stealing things and intervening randomly in events for no reason other than he thinks it's kind of funny and he might wanna steal something you know he's basically the blackest character in warhammer if you think about it

How did you do the turquoise plate effect? That looks brilliant, love to copy that for some highlights on my Tyranid armor. Was it just a base coat of silver then overcoat of Aeldari Emerald?

It was a base coat 2 parts abbadon black, 2 parts medium and 1 part leadbealcher. I dry brushed the whole thing in pure leadbealcher then Aeldari Emerald straight from the pot. If want to push the highlight a bit further use stormhost silver on the edges before applying the Aeldari Emerald.
