The new Eldar codex is full of dodgy information, for example wraithbone is now made up of several different exotic ores and minerals.
There were rumblings about GW using an AI to write their lore, except even chatGPT knows what wraithbone really is. I won't envy the underpaid ghostwriter that has to handwaive how a decimated population of psychically-active isolationists is also running a galaxy-wide mining operation for a substance that until now, was just sung into existence from the warp.

I guess this is my "female Custodes have always existed!!!111" moment.
I think I know why they did it. Same reason they retconned the Blackstone Fortresses to be made of rare minerals: the Votann. All so the kin can mine them/find that stuff to give them a reason to be places like they did when the kin scrapped a Blackstone fortress once. That way, they can have a reason for Eldar vs Kin in the future. Otherwise, they'd just avoid each other most likely.

Almost like the League of Votann were poorly thought out or something.

The Wraithbone thing is so fucking dumb and pisses me off to no end. The Eldar never had miners, they're space elves, they don't need to! Dwarves exist! And the whole fact that the Eldar were so psychically skilled with the Warp that they could create some of the firmest and best building materials out of basically nothing to "Oh it's just minerals" is insult to injury. The new codex is like a goddamn monkey paw: new figures, updates after God knows how many years, but fucking up the Ynarri more than those horrible Gav Thorpe books could, and if @EleventySeven is right, I have more reason to think the Votann were a complete waste of time and effort. I hated them for not fitting into 40k lore and design-wise, and they've been nothing but a non-issue since they were wedged in.

The worst part is you absolutely could have some fun with a high-tech splinter faction of humanity. But turning everyone's favorite Space Dwarfs into a bunch of beardless knock-offs of Starcraft's Terrans wasn't it.

GW should release the Sons of Malice for next edition as 11 is Malal's holy number.
Absolutely. Only problem is, GW doesn't own Malal, or might not own Malal, and they refuse to risk anything.

I still want to someday do up a Malal themed version of the 4 chaos god's main forces. Stuff like Bloodletters in chains and binding runes, and Khorne Berserkers in Sons of Malice paint schemes merging into the Red, that sort of thing.

Elf vs Dwarf eternal grudgematch started in 40k because of mining rights controversy or the Elves stiffing the Dwarves on a payment for Wraithbonium.

Ok, I buy it. Can we get an el nasir reference in there someplace, please?

They didn't even stop at them scrapping a blackstone fortress like fucking meth addicts stealing copper. They also apparently spend their time somehow taking out random tyranid hive ships by boarding them, tunneling around in their guts to disable systems, not getting attacked by much of anything in response, their psykers having no issues being in close contact with something that psychically powerful connected to the hive mind, and then cut the ship up, haul it off in bits, and sell them to eachother including using the materials as the basis for additional biomass for their own cloning of more kin.

Votann are fucking stupid, and not what people wanted as squats back in 40k. Apparently their arch enemy isn't even tyranids(you know, that would have mostly wiped out the squats in the first place), it's fucking orks? what?

Its Ea-Nasir, as in the video game publisher, not El-Nasir, his distant Mexican relative.

That aside, we can't have the War of the Space Beard because there's no fucking beards.

Once you realize that the Ynnari already fulfilled their intended purpose of allowing Guilliman to wake up so that primaris miniatures could be sold writ large, you will understand why they're being let out the back door to be completely forgotten. If anything, I'm ticked off at how the DEldar and Harlequins are being left aside.

Wrong, the Ynnari still have one more purpose.

What the fuck? I didn't expect them to ruin Wraithbone for me but here we are. Can't wait for them to go "but it was actually softer than Adamantium and just barely better than Plasteel" among other things to cuck Eldar. I wonder how Pancreas will feel about this, given how much of a Knife-ear loving simp he is.

You ain't seen nothing yet.

Transeldar are now a thing. You can identify as an Eldar and if you do, you're an Eldar. Not all Eldar are Aeldari, bigot!

Counter point.
What should really happen is GW making 11th a blend of 40k and The Campaign for North Africa. I'm talking full blown autism. Deepstriking your terminators in needs you to triangulate the position of your teleport homer. Moving your rhino? I hope you calculated the evaporation rate of prometheum and added that into your estimations of how much fuel you will need over the course the battle. Your wound rolls and saving throws are actually physics calculations between the material strength of ceramite and the impact force of a bolt round. Etc.

We will achieve true balance through more spinning plates not less
Accckshuallly, Rhino-chassis vehicles have electric motors and power reserves. So you can drive them even when all engines are out as they got a reserve battery for it, in case all 4 of their engines are taken out during battle.

This has been your daily dose of Autism.

Part of the stupid fun of SM2 with friends was having every other word out of everyone’s mouth is “Brother”. Honestly it’s great. As much as I love the Guard it gets too pozed with strong female character who’s so badass.

And I think 40k with Astartes is one of the few all male media things that even talks about brotherhood as a concept so it’s a bit more enjoyable. Which is why some people are pushing so hard to destroy it.

OK, but the lead writer on Space Marine II was literally a fucking tranny.

I enjoy it well enough, but let's not pretend it's some font of brotherhood and true, long neglected masculinity, and a bastion against the woke mind virus.

No?

Ashley Cooper is the tranny. I'm just pointing this out so we know we're talking about the same person.
Screenshot 2025-02-09 120333.png

So this tranny was not only not the lead writer(of which there were two), they weren't even credited with the rest of the writers. Now I did a ctrl+f to search for any other places mr ashley might be in the credits, the only 2 other things named ashley were pets. Now for the sake of clarification I also looked up the actual lead writers.

Craig Sherman, definitely a man and pictured in this article from 2022 https://www.gamedeveloper.com/desig...officer-shares-tips-on-good-game-storytelling

Oliver Hollis-Leick definitely also appears to be a man pictured on his linkedin https://www.linkedin.com/in/oliver-hollis-leick-b756731a/?originalSubdomain=uk

Now yes the tranny was a senior writer for Saber on Space Marine 2 between October 2021 and September 2022. However, they weren't even a full employee, simply contracted and of course since that's from their own linkedin we know that's the bullshitted up as much as possible version https://www.linkedin.com/in/ashley-cooper-7ab7511a1/?originalSubdomain=ca

woke mind virus.
You complain about politics in games, dont you?

That fucking sucks. The description for wraithbone has always been really sick whenever it pops up in a novel. Its funny that basically any novel that has eldar/deldar/harlequinns as an antagonist/dueteragonist is better than any mainline eldar book.

What about xenos factions make GW writer's lose 30 IQ points? Its been like 4 years since Votann came out, Tyranids has jack shit, Eldar is notoriously fucking awful, t'au is, as always, the redheaded stepchild, and Necrons books fuck so hard but there are only like 3 of them. Are modern writers so cooked they cant come up with story ideas for elves? Fuck, they cant even copy Tolkien properly.

Didn’t he get fired from that? Or am I thinking of a different game
Either fired or quit, and kept the created characters. Malal would be prior to the slaves to darkness book from 1990, and Malice would be from some vague references(not even referred to by name) and eventually the Sons of Malice chapter in an anthology from 2005(I think?) but still wasn't a direct reference even then. So the only "real" references for 40k would be from before 2nd edition... and like usual Rogue Trader is a mess of not-canon things(like female space marines). At this point we're talking about 35 years. You know what happened the last time GW brought something back that they got rid of due to a vocal minority wanting it back even though most of the people complaining weren't even alive when it was removed from the game? Squats. And you know what we got after 20+ years when GW put them back? The shitty votann we've been complaining about.

You don't want GW buying the rights and bringing Malal/Malice back.
