I had never heard of them until a YouTuber talked about them in the context of the Badab War, and was happy to see them as the focus of a fan film and make a cameo in the Astartes 2 trailer, but "Space Marines as spec ops soldiers" makes complete, non-retarded sense.

Is this all "SlapChop" is? Because every time it's described as some fancy technique to make models look amazing with zero effort, but all I see is prime a model white, apply contrast paint, call it good enough.

Black, grey, white. or grey then white, or off-white then white, or just off-white or white... and then contrast paints because of their transparency. Yes. That's all there is to it. I've never seen it referred to as "fancy" or making models look "amazing" it just gets the job done.

"Advanced" Slapchop is realizing you can undercoat before the contrast layer. Try a bright pink before using yellow ink, or a really bright saturated blue before layering contrast greens.

The video I posted on the previous page, was before "slapchop" was a thing and the guy went back and put "posh slapchop" in the title later on because everyone on youtube needed to post "slapchop" videos because it was trendy in the algorithm.

Slapchop is just an alternative to base -> shade -> highlight 1 -> highlight 2

I simplified it to its absolute minimum (prime, zenithal, contrast), but you can add dry brushing one or multiple colours at various stages and/or you can give a quick undercoat to affect how the contrast comes through. Depends how creative you are and what effect you want.

Again, really helpful for certain models and especially if you have a lot of them to paint. But if you're really good (and I am not), you can do it for most if not all models.
