Probably one of the hardest models they’ve done recently. The lore for it also great.

It’s one of those things where I think “This is so badass I should build a Sons of Horus army” until I remember they turned into the soulless Black Legion which I greatly dislike because they’re GW’s poster boys for chaos.

While not 40K Gundam Assemble has had its release date pushed back from late 2025 to 2026. The Gundam TCG will still be releasing the four collaborative decks in July with 3 different models in each for a total of twelve minis. While they're intended to be used as tokens for the Gundam TCG they are the same models for the table top game with different shaped bases. If you bought them at RRP then you're looking at close to £150 to get early access to the wave 1 models.

I managed to snag a box and I've been gleefully blasting EDM and dubstep in celebration.
Congrats brother, I’ve technically already got an army (AOD+CSM+bits and leftover projects repurposed) but it would’ve been cool. I’ve got an EC playlist to induce and encourage the manic and uncoordinated style that you should paint those goofy fuckers with

Its such a nice model, I’m not even gonna fuck it up too much. A bare head (as cocky as possible), a scenic base with a kneeling slave holding his helmet (the unused helmet from HH Lucius) and I’m gonna sculpt a toga over the armor, sculpt some locks onto the head and change out the pointing hand with a bit I made that’s holding a real chain. I’ll make my own Lord Exultant, with cocaine and hookers.

Can’t stand the BL either, worst Undivided faction. Fucking ridiculous that they got the named Raptor model and not your guys.

The killteam vs 40k thing always irked me.

Cant field Novitiates in 40k unless I buy the kill team box. Paying extra for kill team accessories and weapons. Oh by the way, the weapons only work in kill team, they are a different loadout for 40k. So I technically need to buy 2 boxes with the killteam tax to play kill team and 40k, with different loadouts.

Mandrakes and Court of the Archon are the same for Drukhari, but actually worse given their small list of models available.

Id buy all three boxes but I wont.

I know I can proxy but when you get that guy to deal with you just get frustrated. Maybe I could magnetise? Honestly dont know but wouldnt be fun.

GW has a good habit of making the worst and most bland factions the face of their models. Ultramarines, Black Legion, Cadia. I think even looking at chaos factions leaders and heroes I’m just so uninspired to ever play as CSM because it’s all Black Legion. Where’s Red Corsairs? Why not lean more into renegade factions? How about Iron Warriors?

I said it before here and I’ll say it again but it if I do a CSM army it’ll just be with HH models (Nemesis Claw still cool despite their BL generic bodies)

Marketability.

You make the boring/simple guys the headline (by 40k standards anyway) to get people in and then they can go exploring. Big guys in power armour and sick looking guns? Nothing too complicated? Hell yeah people are there.

If Imperial Fists or Death Guard were the 'face' of the two sides, far less people would get interested because they have a specific feel and look that only someone invested already will like.

I remember reading that the poster boys used to be red space marines and they swapped to blue (which is a less intense and more neutral colour) and they probably did that for marketability. Not to mention explaining Blood Angels to someone who has 0 idea would be...interesting.

I thought the Crimson Fists were the poster boys back in the day? Or was that just with that one awesome piece of classic 40k art?

Oh, yeah, I made a playlist ages ago full of the loudest, most discordant electronic music and heavy metal I could find. Things will get loud when it's time to start painting them. I've also got an idea to kitbash some AOS Hedonite archers and Chaos cultists together, hopefully it'll work out well.

You should post pics of your conversion when he's done. It sounds badass.

I made my cultists out of any human bodies I had in the bits box and unified their differing looks with Chaos spawn bits (chopped down of course), old Warriors of Chaos weapons and old-style Stormcast masks, with the idea taken from “Lord of Excess” where Xantine’s human enforcers wore masks, made in his likeness and in my version they’re binding all the cultists into a hive mind, controlled by the one whose likeness the masks are made in.

Nothing I love more than making HQs, I go a little bit nuts with the bases and the extra sauce you can shove on the 40mm base. Like that little familiar in the Chaos Terminator Lord kit, love that little guy.
Honsou, you sick fuck!
You ever see the model some guy made of the Daemonculaba? It’s even worse than I imagined it.

I am personally trying to get back into KT after having been out of the loop for a year+. Of course I want Nemesis Claw and Vet Guard/Krieg and of course those are like the only two boxes sold out right now.
Whatever, I got my first commission to scratch build a bloodbowl pitch yesterday so that's pretty hype.

Why buy off GW’s site when Amazon and other outlets probably have them in stock and you’re not paying GW prices

I buy through my LGS because I get discounts and I have store credit via their trade system and they don't have them in stock either. Likewise they aren't really available on eBay which is the other place I buy.
I have vet guard on backorder through my LGS but I doubt it's getting here before adepticon at this point.

To add to this, approach the LGS. Mine is offering bigger discounts for large orders and will basically order you whatever you want.

Whats the worst they say, no? Otherwise theyll order and hold for you, at their price and probs be a bit of a rush job so not a long wait.

Only one of my local LGSs even offers discounts. I actually kind of hate most LGSs in my state because basically none of them will offer discounts and want to sell Warhammer at MSRP. Those same places will then bitch about losing sales to eBay like any customer should give a fuck? LGSs in the US buy at like 35% discount and are stingy retards about passing a fraction of that onto even loyal customers.

A number of LGSs also now charge you for table rentals too. If you live in a state or location where your LGS doesn't do discounts, charges you to play games at their store, then do not support them. Let them shill their shitty MtG and Lorcana and just buy all your stuff from eBay or other online retailers. If your LGS doesn't respect you, your time or your money then you shouldn't respect them trying to stay open.

Truth is most LGSs actually deserve to flop. Don't just blindly support an LGS that is running over your local community.

Always buy from your LGS, even if it's run by a dickhead. It's the place where you can sort out matches and get to know other players.
Never, ever, pay GW online price. Not even as a prank.

Okay charging money to rent a table is the most hebrew thing I've read so far this week.

I have three LGSs and none of them offer any kind of discount. One of them I called and asked if I could preorder a box set through them and they said they don't do preorders and wouldn't even try to hold a box for me, or even confirm if they were getting any. I went in recently and their warhammer selection was pitiful. I don't know if that store is on its way out of business or what but it's the only one of the three that has free tables and there's never anyone there. They have a discord you can try to set up games with people but don't expect to walk into a store and meet people unless you're playing MtG, Pokemon, or Yugioh.

The other one has changed locations about 5 or 6 times the last few years. I used to go there long ago, but they always pick the weirdest locations, and from what I can gather the owner has turned into a dick head. They charge to use tables, they cover the outlets so you can't just plug your phone in, and they don't let you bring in any drinks or snacks. This store is located inside a mall of all places and they really expect you not to walk in with food. You have to buy what they have on hand.

The last one is close to work but has the weirdest set up. They only allow official Warhammer models, no proxies, nothing 3d printed. They don't sell anything other than citadel paints and accessories because as they put it they believe in supporting the games they sell so they can continue to be made. They also have a weird membership program that lets you use their tables and come to events for free, or you can pay for a table.

I can kind of understand charging for a table. If you let people use your terrain for free it can help offset the cost of maintaining those models. Tables are also huge and only allow two people. A game of Yugioh could have several people playing in the same space and don't need to be there for several hours. Players don't directly translate to sales unless you have an event going on that you are also charging for. Maybe someone will impulse buy a box or a paint pot just because it's convenient, but otherwise people are shopping online. From a business perspective Warhammer fucking sucks. But as a customer I don't feel compelled to support businesses that don't want me. If there were a place I could go and meet new people, play different tabletop games, paint some models, and play some games I'd of course shop there just to keep them open. But these stores either aren't willing or aren't able to support a decent wargaming community. Maybe my area just has no interest and it's not profitable. Maybe the area sucks because no one has anywhere decent to go. I know it can be done because when I go to visit my brother he has two amazing game stores that are always packed, and have a giant selection of different games. Yes there are tampons in the men's bathroom and neither of them offer any discounts but at least you have somewhere to play the game and paint your models.

Those LGSs are fucking wild to do that.

- Discounts start at 20%. Ive got 25% by negotiating but you wont get much more. Insane to think they offer 0%
- food and drink they should sell on site and not kick up a fuss about outside. Unless you make a mess but thats on you
- charging for tables is fine if its like $5 and good tables with terrain, airconned and heated etc. Anything more is a scam.

I've been so unbelievably tempted to open my own LGS to exploit a gap in the market of 'normal people playing table top and being normal' but then again, I'll have to filter rainbow people and 'that guy' before its normal.

Depending on your area, you'd be filtering out up to 50% of your customer base. I don't like the rainbow alphabet crowd either, but money is money at the end of the day.

There's definitely a lot of incredibly shitty LGS out there. But not even being willing to hold something from an order they were going to make anyway? Stuff like that is obviously easier if your friends with the staff, but the rest of it is shit I've seen over and over.

The food thing though, that actually surprises me. It's not like the bullshit snacks any LGS sells is actually going to be making a decent amount of revenue, unless they're marked way the hell up beyond reasonable, and at that point no one is going to be buying any of it. Both of my preferred LGS in my area sell drinks and snacks, and don't mind people bringing things in since afterall snacks isn't going to actually feed people all day long who show up and spend half the day painting and the other half of the day gaming.

And yeah, the charging for a table bit, it makes sense in areas where people aren't actually buying shit in the store but I've also seen it in shops that just want to charge more for people playing something like 40k as otherwise they could have had 3 people playing MTG or whatever at that same table space cracking open boosters for an afternoon.
