That hasn't stopped 40k thriving competitively over combat patrol (?), spearhead, kill team, OPR, or any other shorter game.
It is expensive. I'd give my usual cheapo advice (third party kits, kill team) but that doesn't really fix the problem completely.
Only when retards talk about it, which are the only people that still care.

I know I'm late but what the fuck. Where can I get Unification WITHOUT this garbage (given Ultimate Apocalypse is pretty much dead)?
A 2000 point 40k doesn't take 6 hours unless both players are retarded, or you're actually spending most of your time just chatting about random shit(so not actually playing). Tournament rounds are 2.5-3 hours because the games can be finished that quickly(and it's not uncommon for people to start finishing games 2 hours into a round at an event), hence 3 rounds in a day, 2 day tournaments, and the larger events taking 3 days. Even teaching someone completely new who has never played the game before but wanted to play a full 2000 point game from the start, doesn't take 6 hours(it's more like 4). A casual game I played at the LGS the other week including setting up the table only took 3 hours because the both of us knew our shit, even though my opponent said he never goes to tournaments.
Seriously. GW hasn't done fuck all with it except one crappy animation in over a year now. Yet even here a bunch of people who probably never play, probably don't paint, and probably don't bother reading any of the lore still bitch and moan about it.
Do we even know it's amazon? And fucking with GWs stock? Really?
If Amazon's goal was to fuck with GW's stock, by somehow inserting this femstodes shit into the codex and 1 crappy animation, they've managed to do the opposite. Also what DEI scandals involving GW at this point? The company that's been run by a bunch of liberal british nerds for 40 years?

Just gave me the urge to paint up some Cossacks for my Bolt Action Germans.If police is dumb, I'm also considering vostroyan, because I can use some WGA infantry kits and HH vehicles.
I already have some WGA Praetorian proxies. My original plan was to paint them in World War 2 colours, but now I'm into Bolt Action, and given I have a couple of green Kill Teams, I want something with a bit of colour.
Modern 40k isn't cool enough for Vostroyans. They don't do cool shit like that anymore.

with speesh mareens 2 being successful to a point of having a DLC announced it's good to see it was a nothingburger and these faggots have moved on to the stellar blade thing, again, they bitched when it was being made and are bitching about it now that it's selling like hot cakes on PC.
The only major dip in GWs stock is when covid was finally over, shipping prices jumped through the roof, and a bunch of people finally got some games in and realized they weren't actually interested in playing 40k, aos, etc. which was bound to happen. The femstodes shit came with the custodes codex in April 2024.
There was no stock dip at that time beyond any normal minor variation.

in a game where players autisticly argue about combat stats and lore, yes, combat effectiveness matters. suspension of disbelief only goes so far, otherwise you get literal marvelslop where a 5 foot woman throws around dudes twice her size and three times her weight. might as well randomize all stats if they don't mean anything anyway, or play by yahtzee rules if they don't matter.

Again, agree it's usually "culture" tourists/Arch watchers who keep bringing it up every couple of months

femstodes debacle have been 5 months and the space marine 2 DLC thing will bring them around again, they are already panning the re-remaster of space marine 1 in some places.
They absolutely do. But they've also held it for years now, even back in 2021 when they seem to have made those investments.
But considering GW is now on the FTSE 100, it would be weirder if Blackrock, Vanguard, etc. weren't invested in it.

What the fuck are you talking about movie changes? Nothing has been announced other than they were sure they had settled on something for the amazon production toward the end of the contract date that was specifically for the companies to come to an agreement on what they want to do, and that was in December. There's been nothing about it publicly discussed since other than GW in a financial report stating that if it goes well they'll keep the option of doing additional shows and movies on the table.
Even the episode of that stupid tithes thing from WHTV, which has nothing to do with amazon, was from September 2024.

This whole discussion about the stock prices, their CFO leaving, etc. happened in this thread and people were posting grifter videos who didn't bother to look at the publicly available information then, and just made crap up. Why would it be any different now?
The interesting thing about this crap between GW and Amazon, and even GW's own bs is that because these are publicly traded companies they can't simply hide everything. Trying to dig through Amazon's financials to find anything about the GW deal is going to be next to impossible. But looking this stuff up from the GW side? It's fucking easy. But the grifters don't bother with that.

Considering one of the those channels is Fandom Pulse/JDA, who is from our very own Comicsgate thread (not sure if he's ever participated in this thread), knew to block them when they appeared.
From hazy memory and with reference to P1138's post, there was an announcement that there was a production company working on an Eisenhorn adaptation then a former Hasbro high up joined GW, which saw increase in merch/licensing, including the push of diverse artwork/painted models then Cavil had the Witcher debacle, was creating his own production company then announcement he was working with Amazon/GW on a 40k series, which led to the speculation that it was going to the Eisenhorn series which then saw leaked contracts that indicated GW has given over more rights/control to Amazon then the Femstodes debacle happened. Did see a Valrak video thumbnail re Cavil that was posted this week but haven't checked it out yet so unsure if there's actually anything new or just a clickbait as slow news week.

also they covered femstodes because of cavill and space marine 2 which is why i am expecting them to try something with the DLC and the Master Crafted edition for space marine 1.
slow week, it's june and a ton of things are slowing down for prep time as summertime hits many of us.
it's also why clickbaiters haven't rushed to anything because there is nothing to be "leaked" yet, expect teasers and leaks to start by next week as many people get paid by day 25.
Amazon doesn't have anything to do with Space Marine 1, or the DLC for Space Marine 2. Nor do we know Cavill has anything to do with femstodes unless part of the agreement was he wanted to out himself as a tranny by playing one or something, which is generally quite the opposite of what he's known for considering the constant bickering between Cavill and the people writing The Witcher series because he wanted to keep it like the books, to the point where he just gave up and left the show.
