I gotta admit, with all the stuff that's out there currently us 40k vidya gamers are eatin' GOOD!

Darktide, Space Marine 1 and 2, Necromunda, Boltgun, Rogue Trader (never played that one though because I hate turnslop), and Dawn of War is getting remastered.

Darktide is a hoot and I'm not quitting that one any time soon, but I keep hoping Fatshark gets the idea to give me what I REALLY want- XENOSTIDE.

A game where you play as Deathwatch Space Marines wiping out tons of different xenos factions. Just lift most of the mechanics and art assets from Darktide and you're 90% of the way there.

You can start off with a campaign against Necrons, Tau or some other lesser-known enemy faction and then expand into campaigns against Eldar, Votann, Orks, etc.

It's good, but there are some issues and it could be better. Darktide has the issue that the developer is Fatshark. It's nice that we are getting another Boltgun and Rogue Traders is getting more content and Dark Heresy is on the horizon. As for DoW, no remaster needed, the series is perfectly playable as it is. A new entry would be the right thing to do. Gladius is still getting stuff. Maybe another Battlefleet Gothic would be cool. 40K is definitely better faring than fantasy, but it's not perfect or as good as it could be.

With how the lore has turned out they could easily set it on the Eastern Fringe and make it a full and proper free-for-all. Just say that shit's going down by Maccrage and that G-Man Himself asked for Lord High Admiral Spire to help out. With proper set up the map could be used as a basis for a full campaign for each faction.

And while we're making Candlemas wishes to the Emperor, I'd love to have some actual mod support in it.

GW demonstrating actual abusive behaviour towards GK players.

Best Combat Patrol you should buy 3 of? Replaced by a box you buy 1 of max.

Primaris or at least model update of their kits finally? No. Now have a boxnaught thats basically extra stock.

Any news of anything positive? Wait 1 year minimum, probably 2.

Someone at GW must have been touched by a Grey Knights player because they got fucked.

My local store is always fucking closed. Always. You call ahead and make sure they're open? By the time you get there they're closed. Or there's some sort of renovation taking place, even though nothing changes.
I've done some low effort sleuthing and every review I can find of them across any review site I can find and social media says the same thing.
The only other store I can find that sells WH is over 2 hours away, and I'm not particularly inclined to spend that much time driving for some figures.
I just hate buying shit online, man. I don't trust delivery drivers.

How does this store exist without being a money laundering front or something? Game stores tend to have some weird hours at times like not being open before noon on a weekday(which isn't actually that weird if you think about it), maybe not even being open on a Monday(and sometimes Tuesday). But 10am to at least 8pm on a Saturday is basically a must, same with being open during the evening on a Friday.

I have no earthly idea, man. Neither do any of the other people I've seen complaining about the place.

Wanted to vent a bit and I probably already mentioned them before but fuck it. Long ass post so I'll put it in a spoiler as to not shit up the thread.
There was a channel I used to really enjoy called Astartes Anonymous. Basically it was four retards shooting shit about a topic for an hour, but they were pretty entertaining and bounced off each other well since they were actually friends in real life rather than just a bunch of people on the internet. They would mostly do the podcast but they also did more interesting original content such as suggestions on how to make homebrew chapters, warbands, etc. They even once (and sadly once) reviewed a rather interesting homebrew Warband that basically combined Iron Warriors and World Eaters. If you've ever seen this image:
1750920535093.webp
Then you might have heard of the Iron Butchers before as this was done commissioned by the creator of the homebrew, among others (not sure how much is done for the homebrew or the official yet hilariously lesser known one).

What I particularly enjoyed was at the beginning of each episode, they'd showcase art and models their fans did (or just generally) and give a shoutout to them, which was pretty nice and something I hardly ever see from any other content creator I personally watched. Hell one of the hosts is a pretty talented artist themselves so they even contribute to the community with their own art.

Rarely they would made more generic "X for dummies" for people new to the hobby but those were relatively short, not often, and entertaining to a degree, but again they were still generic. They would also bring in guests that also flowed well with their dynamic so rarely would there ever be a bad guest (even if there was a bad guest, haven't seen all their episodes, the hosts bounced off eachother well enough that it was bypass this). The best host imo was Red, the guy whose avatar was that of a Night Lord, because some of the better moments of the podcasts were started by him.

Nothing good ever lasts of course and eventually shit went south, starting with the potential troon. For whatever reason, Red would appear less and less, which would be fine even if he was the best host (imo) because the other 3 and often times the guest would do pretty well without him. That was until they brought...I'll just refer to them as It as I'm not 100% sure they're a tranny, 95% at most. It was just...awful. Annoying voice, retarded opinions, added nothing to the podcast, and was a complete degenerate. Not to say the other hosts were pure, but it wasn't anywhere near as bad and it was entertaining. It however was...just gross, they were usually and at the time rarely brought up on the podcast, and that was only when It wanted to do an episode on who they wanted to fuck/marry/kill and who the most "kissable" male character was or some shit. Needless to say, it was terrible and having to listen to It's voice going over what disgusting creatures (yes, creatures, as in mostly animal or Eldritch creatures) they wanted to most definitely rape them (because this is Warhammer) was a massive turn off.

At the time, they very rarely made an appearance and the video contents were not too interesting to me to begin with whenever they were on (I don't find the prospect of wanting to fuck Dante, Marry Abaddon, or whatever the fuck other madness It brought up to be appealing), but you know it's bad when some of the normie audience started noticing their odd behavior. Sadly, this marked a sign of the end times, funny considering they were a Warhammer (mostly 40k but sometimes Fantasy) channel. Red would make less appearances, It would make more, It was increasingly unfunny and even the better guests couldn't salvage some of the episodes, and it might just be me but Red seemed to not really like It all to much anyway so that might have started his eventual departure from the channel. Speaking of which, eventually Red would quit entirely because he became a Fed or some other government slave or some shit and It became a full time host. Didn't help that the quality strangely went down even without It making an appearance, though that could also just be me. I also noticed an increase of "fagflag in profile picture" users making gay little comments so that's a red flag too.

At this point I rarely kept up with them, and when I checked back with them after a while I noticed they slowed down their podcast (their bread and butter) in favor of cooky cutter lore videos that every 40k channel that wasn't dedicated to the tabletop has done for the past however many fucking years. Did we need a video talking about every single fucking Dreadnought or Guilliman lore video #40000? Sadly this did better than their podcasts at the time but only slightly better, with the occasional bigger than average views. Eventually they made an announcement that basically just meant they were switching things around, I think it's just a layout change and probably some other shit but at that point I just...stopped caring. And good thing too, they almost completely shifted to basic ass, generic, dime a dozen lore videos talking about shit that's been covered a million times already, which only barely do better than the podcasts. I can't imagine it being a worth it with all the extra research and far more editing they need to do as opposed to the unscripted content which was far more entertaining (once) and fun for how low effort it was.

Worst part was, they've been doing lore content in the form of their shorts for the longest time, they were significantly better since they got to the point and actually did voice acting, but now making worse lore content than what you were already doing for a barely bigger payoff (than the podcast episodes, shorts will obviously always get more views) that probably isn't even worth doing. And what I liked about them in the first place and what got them to where they are now is not only taking a back seat but is worse on top of that? Yeah, no, I'm not interesting in that retardation.

TL;DR channel with an funny group shooting the shit and having fun was ruined because of potential tranny's degeneracy (shocking I know) and taking said channel too seriously, ultimately making it just another generic 40k channel. Yeah I'm taking @Muad'Dick's advice and just giving up finding worth content creator with my time beyond incredibly tiny mental list of creators I have. I also want to ask if there's any good Warhammer community worth engaging with, doesn't have to be full of based chuds or whatever like the Farms but I'm just sick of bad actors fucking up my hobbies. It is inevitable, but while the most populous communities fling their gates open for every horrific creature so long as they're not wacist bigots : ( there will be people who at the very least monitor the people coming in and eliminate the worst of them, something those retarded plebbitors at HorusGalaxy and now whatever the other one is called can't seem to fathom (even if they did, they'd just be banned even faster).

Did they delete content or something? Because I went to their channel and looked at their oldest video and uhh...
That's their podcast episode #1 from March 2023 with the main topic being a tier list

So I'm thinking ok, maybe it started really gay and you missed the first episode. I scrolled a bit randomly and got #30

Ok maybe there's something less gay. Let's scroll up, episode #17 How could a halloween special be gay?

I'm not even going to fucking click on this video

I dunno man, this shit seems gay as fuck for the entire duration.

That's the faggot kissing video I mentioned. Like I said, they had some degen stuff but compared to the possible troon's? Far less manageable for me. I've heard rumors from their dicksword about "her" trying to push even more degen shit too but you can only get so much from what are now probably deleted comments. And I remember less unfunny gay stuff outside of these types of videos before It was introduced compared to after.

It's not just that one video. It's all 3 other videos I clicked on with only the first not being random because I looked at the first episode. I'm surprised they didn't do this SOONER. A one off joke, ok whatever. But that's consistently faggy shit.

A tyranid novel would be really difficult. A collection of short stories featuring the different levels of sapience and autonomy that a Tyranid would have would be possible, but certainly not to the level of a full 80-100k word novel. Essentially an introduction starting with a lowly gaunt, then building from there to something like a Genestealer/Patriarch, or a greater "Hive Mind" in a weird sort of limited perspective, with more abstract ideas and concepts explained in a way that could be read. Maybe, if you were feeling especially retarded, you could even write a scene involving a Pysker or Librarian capturing a neuro-something and using woo-woo voodoo magic to penetrate the hive mind, and before the Psyker's brain melts you get a short description of what the Hive Mind actually "feels" like to a human mind the instant before it realizes a human is there and goopifies their ass. Idk, just spitballing.

I have been perusing the Core Book and there is something that I find really strange. Maybe someone who has an older version can confirm if this is normal or a (dumb) new decision on GW's part. Why are there so many pages dedicated to combat patrols when those either are bad value, sell out immediately or get discontinued and replaced with a new one. Isn't that a total waste of space, or is GW of the opinion that people interested in the hobby will pick up the Core Book first and decide with its help on which army to build.

I will start with assembling and painting my Eldar this weekend. I will try the subassembly method, will probably result in a better paint job.

And I picked up a couple of shirts a while ago:

Few reasons.
1. GW has been continually padding their core rulebook for years, and actually putting less hobby related shit in it, as well as rules stuff. Long ago half the book was actually army lists, stat lines, and such for the full game.
2. It's because GW wants to promote combat patrol as a game mode for beginners or something, but it's not specifically tied to the boxes. There are combat patrol lists in White Dwarf, that never get combat patrol boxes. GW doesn't care about that.
3. They just assume people will buy it by default or something, even though they know it has so many changes, even just from the actual mission packs that the core book is basically worthless(which is why the rules in it are free on warcom even).

First, those are some sicknass shirts.

Combat Patrol does a few things
1. Beginner 40k to introduce new players. Boxes are 4-500 points with preset armies to not over complicate loadouts or overwhelm you with large ranges. If you need to think less in your first game, you wont be overwhelmed.
2. Bundle box with a discount. Helps people get into an army. The good boxes are always recommended to buy 2 or 3 for a good reason. Both for new and old players whether its your first army or first dip into the army.
3. Bundle box thats not limited stock. Christmas or new release army boxes have limited stock, these are around for a year or so. Buying individual boxes are always more expensive. You can split boxes with a mate or sell the models you dont want.

From my understanding, AoS Spearhead does a WAY better job of this, but this is 40k so a bit more complicated. If Daughters of Khaine had a better Spearhead, I'd probably give it a go.

I think boarding patrol would make a better beginner set than combat patrol. You’d have terrain and a simple army on the table. And you can sell a starter set with army flavor of the year. Of course this is a good idea and we know GW is allergic to those

Boarding action has a separate set of rules(not as different as killteam mind you) for things that don't exist in "normal" 40k(like doors), or how LoS works for ranged and melee combat being completely different. It also requires even more terrain(assuming you aren't just using a printed mat/sheet) to handle all of the corridors.
