How do grey knights keep losing THIS BAD? This entire combat patrol is such a slap in the mouth, and its obvious that GW is trying to get rid of its excess models (which is weird with Crowe - didnt he sell well?) before the range refresh next edition. I'm going to guess they're going to drop the GK update beginning of 11th or midway through after everyone that was going to buy this one got it. Personally I hope scalpers scalp the FUCK out of this box to hopefully prevent newbies from buying it and wasting their money.

Could be worse, I mean, named characters in Patrols is gay but it could always be worse, lest we forget the Tzaangor onslaught that was the last TS combat patrol.

It is funny how much Crowe towers over them all though.

It's a combat patrol. Not sure what anyone was expecting. They included the only recent model since 2017, weren't going to be including a dreadknight in the new combat patrols(and certainly not with the new upgrade sprue for it), their one basic infantry kit, and a pack of terminators which is their other infantry kit.

Remember, the entire grey knights army is 2 boxes of infantry, 3 characters(one of which is finecast and would never end up in a combat patrol, and if draigo isn't getting replaced, will just be getting deleted), the dreadknight, and that's it other than a couple other generic models like the dread, landraider, rhino... and I think the gunships? Which all look even more out of place, at least the dread has a bunch of text on it as options.

Fucking plastic custodes has more kits than grey knights by a pretty large margin(5 characters, 4 infantry kits, that's already basically double, plus bikes).

I think GW are embarrassed that the Grey Knights even exist. They're a product of daemons being too strong on the tabletop at some point, right?

‘Old on now. This seems retarded even by tranny standards, smaller bases would mean less ability to hop onto and capture objectives. And it’s not like the game has templates or (that many) Auras any more.

But speaking of trannies infiltrating the hobby, idk if anyone else visits GoonHammer here, but it’s gotten over run with trannies and libs. Used to be a decent site to check in on the state of competitive play, but now it seems every other article is whining about Orange Man.
And as the icing on the cake they’ve got a troon running a life advice column :story:
 
What's the best way to enjoy DoW solo? I own them all, played a bit of the first's campaign but it fell out of my rotation a bit ago.

Gaunt's ghosts are on 28mm bases. They're harder to screen against melee through a wall, can pack more of them onto an objective in a given space to control it with OC(like an objective sitting under terrain). Would have an easier time engaging all models in melee when they charge. Would be easier to hide them behind terrain(especially for scout moves or infiltrator deployment), etc.

Is the 5mm worth even bringing up outside of a tournament? Fuck no, but there's still advantages to it. Now if they were trying to use models on 28mm bases in place of something normally on 40mm like terminators, I'd just decline the game at that point.

I don't know. Previous editions have had stupid escalation with GK and daemons and the invul saves, then shit that ignores invul saves, then daemon saves, then GK getting shit to ignore daemon saves. They've had years to do basically anything with the faction and they've been letting it languish for over a decade at this point. At least other factions stuck with older models at least have other models including dark eldar these days.

They probably just took the leftover Boarding Patrol boxes and tossed in the dreads they have laying around.

The box is insulting for several reasons.
- the last was godtier, 2-3 buys easy
- it has a character, so its 1 purchase max
- it has a boxnaught, which is already extinct everywhere else
- theres a 'refresh' next edition so the box is good for 12-18 months before its sent to legends

They will surely primaris-ify GK in their refresh, give them a new couple of boxes and everyone will be left holding legends or soon to be legends models. So an already low interest faction for most is even lower until they get the refresh.

My local store has stock of like 8 of the last box and it hasnt shifted in like a year. Sad.

If you haven't already experiment with either Apocalypse Mod or Unification Mod. Unification is sort of like vanilla+. Apocalypse is much more expanded and also much more unstable/unbalanced. Both have other games modes to play that aren't just comp stomps, like survival.

It's good on PS5. Feels a lot better then endlessly doing operations. You don't get armor gear but it's a faster way of leveling up guns and classes. Also if you act quickly before the 14th you can get the classic mark helmet. Although you gotta jump through some twitch hoops connect accounts and put your phone on a stream and not watch it for 30 mins. Most importantly they added inferno pistols, which is basically a pistol melta gun. So I can have both at once depending on the class and have on average 50 to 60 rounds to kill everything with. Pretty great stuff

Nidzilla armies were fun back in the day but almost unplayable now with mortal wounds and such.

If you run nothing but max gaunts, 99% of people wont have enough attacks in 5 turns to knock you off the board, let alone objectives.

You would have to paint upwards of 240 models though.
