Do the demon primarchs even qualify for returning? They never really left the setting.

We know where Lorgar and Perturabo are (in their rooms, hiding from Corax/worshipping devils and playing with Legos, respectively). Perty even made an appearance in a limited edition of the IW omnibus, where he plays 40k with Honsou.
Well Fulgrim was busy gooning, Angron was just bipolar, and Morty was emo fart gas huffing. It’s not so much as returning just writers being lazy with their introductions.

*screams about Angron vs Lion being a codex fight again*

I read that Fulgrim was actually just BPD as fuck and had array of nightmare-hobbies, from sending Lucius to kill problems, gaslighting Fabius, reliving his own childhood on Chemos, gooning, grooming Fabius’s daughter, fucking N’kari, playing the Great Game and nursing the beating from Rylanor.

He was a neet, jumping from waste of time to waste of time. At least Angron was probably actually fighting in the Great Game, I highly doubt Morty or Fulgrim could be bothered, those two were trophies more than anything. The real prizes were their champions, Lucius and Typhus get shit done, in a way their idiot fathers don’t.

I need a new read. I started Elemental Council but the first couple chapters honestly killed my interest. I might try again another time. I'm sitting on audible credits though and I need some recommendations to listen on my drive to and from work. I'm too indecisive.
All of the Space Sharks books are pretty good. It actually shows how powerful Space Marines are. However, I do find the second book in the series kind of bullshit, how the Forge world is attacked. But it also shows how morally fucked up. And screwed up warp spawned abominations..
They just released one of the audio books of one of the knight books. I mean, it's not like a super in-depth novel, but it's basically just nights beating the living crap out of each other. And shows how much space Marines. a no match for a guy in. 25 foot giant Walker.

Yeah I love when a niche chapter gets flanderized and the loose connection to a dumb, ugly culture is made excessive and silly. You better be doing the haka in penance.

I've heard of Red Tithe, but I didn't know there were others. I'll give it a try. Thanks.

I genuinely wish they would make storm wardens. Into a book. But that would have to admit that Fantasy Flight. TTRPGS added a lot of cool shit .
And acknowledging outside companies create cool things for GW. Something GW cannot do because then they would have to let them make a new TTRPG. Which I never get why they didn't let them make Rogue Trader 2nd edition if they were releasing the video game. But then again, GW is not a very well one company. It's just that all their competition is literally won by incompetent buffoons.

It's not a matter of "letting" Asmodee do it, Fantasy Flight Games had the rights and the contract likely ran out since it was a licensed game. That was in 2016(almost a decade ago), FFG then decided to publish Genesys instead in 2017 which was a generic TTRPG based off of their star wars ruleset. After that Asmodee split up what FFG was doing and handed the miniatures games to Atomic Mass Games, and the RPG stuff to Edge who hasn't done fuck all since other than publish 1 new book trying to adapt L5R to D&D 5e.

Meanwhile Cubicle7 got rights from GW to produce games and republish the pre-existing d100 stuff from FFG/Asmodee and probably didn't want to either cause any issues by altering existing content to update it, or simply didn't want to be stuck tied to that system and wanted to do their own thing with Wrath & Glory and Imperium Maledictum.

GW can't make Asmodee decide to keep paying GW for a license they didn't want to use, when they wanted to make their own setting agnostic TTRPG system(that basically immediately flopped) and had no reason to hold out for Asmodee to come to their senses and want to do more after they had already done extensive shuffling of subsidiaries and staff already anyway.

Many such cases when it comes to the Ghost Legion.
I love the "perception" they are badass contrasted with the reality that they have no idea WTF they are doing. Just completely circling the drain in some vain attempt to dismantle the imperium without thinking about what comes afterwards.
How do we know that hasn't already happened? I remember a story someone mentioned that had some Great Rift era shenanigans for the Alpha Legion and none of them had any idea which side they were fighting for or why or what their ultimate goals were.
The official story far as I know, is that none of the original alpha legion went into the eye, so all of them are next generation. Unfortunately none of them kept up to date on what their Primarchs actual plans were, so every group has a different idea of what to do.

I'm cool with the idea of Bringing one of the Primarchs back and potentially having them joining up with the imperium, but you'd have to explain what the hell they were doing and why they didn't prepare their legion properly. Also I think you'd have to have a traitor loyalist to balance it out. Like dorn coming back insane or something.

I did suggest that Fulgrim clone Trollzyn's got stored that's beyond heartbroken about what "he" did to Ferrus Manus, and you could easily have that and his attempts to overcompensate for "his" treason cause him to spiral out of control into insanity.

Nah I think that would be way cooler if he held onto his humanity but tried to radically change his identity. Bonus points if he obsessively emulates another Primarch and takes their identity a bid to prevent himself from falling.
So have him come back as a good Primarch and then someone else like Khan or Russ comes back wrong. I really like the idea of a chaos Russ.

Imagine if he impersonates Ferrus and "returns" to the Iron Hands. Hence he tries to "redeems" the murder of his brother. Maybe he can have an arc where he tries to reclaim Fireblade.

You guys know why the last Fabius book in the trilogy shut down every plot thread and the author seethed?

Cause they sucked and that clone is never coming back, thank God for that.

I want my Marines Malevolent book, they already have the inter-chapter dynamics of the idiots from Space King, being teenage retards who hate everyone and everything, other battle brothers included and being first ones to get a shiny ended up fucking over a squad.

This would be 100 percent what that book would be. It would be awesome. Also, we need a book about Alpha Legionnaires who are loyal but are confused about it.

Alright im gonna bite the bullet and read that trilogy next chance I get. I'll go into it from a completely neutral perspective to see if it's badly written or cool in isolation from everything else.

Don’t waste the brain power, you like seeing monsterous badass superfiend characters getting de-fanged? Which happened a lot in the late 2010s, this is that.

Fabius is much better-represented by his appearance in Lucius: The Faultless Blade. Because he’s not a good main character.

its well written and interesting. Spoilers-ish ahead.

There are a lot of cool characters and Fabius himself is written as extremely competent, but very troubled by the weight of the past and dread for the future. I personally enjoyed the trilogy, and how he showed up later in Belisarius Cawl's The Great Work. There are a lot of interesting side characters, and I wont get into the nitty gritty, but his pseudo-children, a Wordbearer, a World Eater, and his kinda-sorta daughter make a very interesting caste for the most part. There are plenty of insane creations and mad science if thats why you like Bile, and Bile himself is an absolutely irredeamable prick in the best possible way.

Secret Harlequinn trilogy as well, if you like Quinns.
