Because there's a lot of it, and I don't care, and some of it is scattered around books that are out of print and hard to find.

The Badab War might be spread across old White Dwarf and Imperial Armour books. Plus each chapter has their own lore and backstory. Not 100% sure.

Horus Heresy is, iirc, 64 books long? It's something like that, but if you want to know the gist of who the primarchs are and the key events like the dropsite massacre.

Maybe I want to know more about Krieg than reddit memes about shovels, but also don't want to read a whole novel just to get what they're all about.
The rise of instant gratification and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. Read the book, Nigga.

Seriously. Unless you're some spastic weirdo with ADHD bouncing from hobby to hobby constantly, just read a book or even put on an audiobook while you're painting and you can do 2/3 of the hobby at the same time.

Don’t pretend you don’t know that almost all of it can be found as a free pdf.

Your kind enable these disgusting youtubers with the ridiculous voices and secondary-pandering content. For all the flaws of GW, their audiobook game is usually pretty good, Auric Hammer has been my go-to for sleeping almost a year now.

Oi, gitz, it's Orktobah again.

Step 1: Copy a wiki page about the faction
Step 2: Paste it into an AI voice generator of a homosexual zoomer.
Boom, you've got a working replacement for your average 40K lore channel. You're just missing out on about half of the Reddit memes and 10 minutes of mobile game ads.

Really you only need half those heresy books. Amd really if you pressed me i could get it down to 20.
Once you get beyond the first 4 or maybe 5... after that just pick the ones that follow the factions you're interested in.

I can't wait for youtube to add a flag for AI-slop option. They have to at this point, shorts are a goddamned wasteland of dreck.
Youtube doesn't give a shit unless the content is potentially illegal or a problem for advertisers. Their primary concern is eyeballs and overall watch time.

Id read more of the HH if they fucking printed them.

Besides the siege, i own maaaaaybe 10 books and its bullshit i cant learn about Dark Angels, Ravenguard etc because their books arent in print.

I dont want to hear about audible, ebooks or pirating. You dont fucking own shit unless its in your hands.

Ian comes across as a sniveling rat. Anyone who unironically claims that the Warhammer community needs to take their hobby back from the "Alt-Right", is a mindless, politically brain-rotted moron. Not to mention he also thinks the Imperium is just as bad, if not worse than the Forces of Chaos. You know, the homicidal, planet raping hell daemons that want to obliterate reality and devour every soul in existence. Why, you may ask? "Le Imperium is le fascist :("

MATI moment over. Back to our usual conversation.
Very simple rule I follow: if the channel has their name in it: "Ian" "Weshammer", etc. that means the channel is about them first and the lore second. And if that's their priority, they're probably a narcissist. And if they're a narcissist there's a good chance they're a leftist. Just avoid named channels (women are especially guilty of this) and you're fine.

Luetin09 and the Remembrancer are the undisputed GOATs. They do their homework and don't editorialize.

Lords of Silence isn’t just one of the best 40k novels, it also has the best audiobook. Every single plague bro gets a unique voice and the lack of female characters offsets the problem with audiobooks with a sole VA.

Vorx being a cool dad to his gang of psychopaths is even funnier with a sarcastic voice actor.

Not all of them are worth your time.
It's strange seeing people so mad when it's the same forum (possibly even the same thread) that complained about how shit Black Library is, pointing to utter shit like Sargon of Akkad being killed by the authors self insert. Not everything is Infinite and the Divine, or the Night Lords trilogy. No wonder the 40k community is shit these days.

I only half get lore videos. It feels like audio books could scratch the background noise itch without the telephone game of a complete fucking faggot trying to inject retarded memes and jokes into the material. Isnt the point of a hobby with a lot of lore to actually read and or listen to that lore? And if you cant even do that, why even bother? Just seems silly to me.
It's free. A lot of them also cover events that are scattered across numerous books or articles such as the siege of Vraks or even Arks of Omen. Yeah I could buy several outdated rulebooks to learn about Vashtorr or pick just the highlights from a wiki, or I can watch someone on YouTube read it for me.

It's mostly for boobies(thanks phone) noobies anyways who are dipping their toes into the lore and need it spoonfed. They won't know about the novels. It's hard to search for something you don't know exists.
