Unfortunately Pete the Wargamer seems to have fallen for that trap of bullshit members only content, and his channel has a span of videos you can't watch without being reminded you aren't paying him. Fortunately he seems to have stopped that within the past couple of months.

Duncan seems to be doing fine, posts a video every couple of weeks, probably makes way more from his paint than youtube. Which is understandable.

Peachy's main channel I'd say is floundering. His only really successful video in the past couple of months was about paint pens, with everything else getting 1/5th of fewer of the views. Honestly I preferred his content when he was on The Painting Phase and that was mostly just a podcast.

Rogue Hobbies, her channel seems to be doing great. Can even paint some gunpla as if there aren't a hundred other channels that have done it, and they're somehow her most popular videos while so many other channels complain if they don't mention warhammer in the thumbnail or title their views fall off. Turns out if you can actually paint, film, and explain what you're doing, people will watch it.

Speaking of Rogue Hobbies, the "Juggz podcast" she's on with Peachy and TheHonestWargamer seems to regularly do as well as Peachy's main channel and it's just a podcast about hobby stuff, which is where I think Peachy does a better job than just trying to run a generic hobby channel.

Also the bit about working with Hellstorm Wargaming to finish his start collecting deathmatch... this guy really has hardly any friends I guess. Sure I get that not everyone wants to be in someone's videos, but you don't need to film the friend just to film a batrep for a combat patrol game and he can't convince anyone to help him with that? Maybe he shouldn't have bragged about dropping his GW NDA and no longer getting free shit from GW, because he doesn't even have that as bait to ask people to help do him a favor.

I finished reading Fulgrim yesterday. It was exciting. I love reading about the details of each traitor legion's downfall. Julius went from enjoying art and literature to noise-freak and addicted sadomasochist. Fulgrim basically stayed the same but became worse. It's not Hamlet-level depth but most of the time, neither do our regular human feelings reach that deep. We're so removed from the physical and cognitive abilities of an Astartes but we can relate to their emotional anguish.

Seeing the fall to Chaos or the opening up to the worship of the Emperor (like Garro) is the most fascinating part to me. The action is fun too, of course. I'm missing a couple of the philosophical games the iterators played in the first and second book.

As an outsider to Warhammer-discourse (no minis, never been inside a shop, pirated books and computer games only) I noticed that little attention is put to the important role the many civilians played in the Horus Heresy. They deserve much more! If it wasn't for the degenerate artists under the influence of that Chaos temple the Emperor's Children might have had a better chance at resisting the temptation. Garro likely would have caved-in if it wasn't for Euphrati Keeler reaching out to him and supporting him.

Good read on the situation, especially the rembrancers being the arguably second biggest vector of infection for the legion. Especially what Serena did to nudge Slaanesh’s boytoy in the right direction.

emperor children is prob the most coolest space marines with the best drip, its a shame.

Unfortunately because they couldn't leave well enough alone, the sequel to that book is basically The Reflection Crack'd, a title that may or may not have been foreshadowing considering how fucking dumb his legion and honestly Fulgrim himself turns out in that. The emotional anguish of Fulgrim's legion was so great, that they resort to sticking things up his ass to try and exorcise a daemon.

Yeah, I know the Fulgrim novel was actually written alright. The problem is after that it's just pure fucking stupidity.

Ive considered listening to audio books whilst I hobby but between following lolcows, real life and being a rabid physical media enjoyer, I've never gone through with the search of quality 40k channels that work for me.

Most 40k channels don't work for hobby time. Arbitor Ian is okay for that, but his content is limited.

My background noise of choice is usually Asmongold and a Linux news channel, but for spooky month I've been listening to a lot of CreepCast, Chilling Scares, and Scary Interesting.

I’ve seen most people (Guard players) starting to look into Konflict 47 a lot more. It does look interesting as a WW2 enjoyer and the rift could easily be hand waved away as “the warp”. Mechs look dope and as always WW2 aesthetics aren’t overwhelmed by the setting. Personally I’m just too committed and will just ignore this gay lore and keep on playing KT

Yes. It's strange that, since my return to the hobby, I've felt at odds with the 40k community (even here) and despite being late, I'm also ahead of the curve. It's strange seeing you praise Konflict 47 in a 40k space and not get shit for doing so.

It's like the paint markers I asked about a while ago only to catch shit from all directions (with a notable exception), but I took a chance on a few and they're great for my needs, and what's more a hobby friend was also interested in them and was impressed with the results. I'm even considering dropping the cash on a full set.

And as detailed in other threads, I'm really looking forward to trying One Hour Skirmish Wargames. I doubt it'll have the depth for a 40k proxy, but if it delivers on it's promise, I think it could be a hit with my time starved group.


On the hobby front. Started on my WGA Cannon Fodder set today. Built a few more last chancers. I'm not sure if I'll commit to a full army yet. It is super tempting. I'm also considering a Chem Dogs theme as well just so I have a criminal themed army that hasn't been retconned.
