It could really expand the range to get into mortal followers.
What do you guys think the next faction is going to be? Exodites, traitor guard, dark mech, freebootaz?
Badrukk + piratey bits or another freebota character and unit is very likely judging from the snakebite styled releases represented by snaggas. I wouldnt mind some sculpts that are homages to the barbarian skar boy goffs, or if the multi part boyz kit that's on its way did so.
Exodites is a when not an if, at the rate they release kits these days potentially 2-4 years from now. Elf corsairs are gonna be very soon.
Traitor Guard//Lost and the Damned//Eye of Terror style army I want desperately, and it wouldn't even be difficult to pull off. Just make it like Shadow Legion in Daemons or Brood Brothers in GSC. where you can take any number of CSM units, and up to 1k of guard vehicles or specific infantry entries. Let them retain voice of command or have a special variant table. Throw in some mutant ogryns, un-legends the autogun cultists, and provide the option to soup poxwalkers, jackhals, and tzangors,
Dark mech is coming to 40k, I assume it's the stand alone Iron Warriors book from the TGA leak. I would say that creates space for more things like the above in the generic CSM book, but they are'nt really taking anything with them on the way out. It's not like the other legions in the generic book get special characters, I dont even count Fabulous Will or Huron as they have their own clubs.
I feel like they need to tidy up the current armies before they release any new factions
They like leaving holes so they can fill them later, completing an entire range refresh is at odds with that. Not that I'm arguing that they shouldnt, I fully agree that Deldar, GK, and Votann need some help. Votann needs more heavy vehicles, and a dreadnought equiv. When the SC game comes out it would be cool if the scale of the terran vehicles matches up well to 40k.
