It's not a boycott if you buy the product, the other post doesn't make sense in any other context besides the fem heads being sold as an upgrade kit.

No model secondaries shouldn't use the word "We" when they tell on themselves this hard by their statements.

This. Buying the models with the parts you don't like, even if you burn those parts and post them to youtube isn't a "boycott" since you're still putting money in GWs pocket and GW isn't going to care if you're using the helmets instead of the female heads. Just get prints or recasts of the shit you actually want.

There's basically 3 scenarios for these femstodes models with 2 outcomes since HH isn't dead but may as well be.

1: GW sees a bunch of praise and a bunch of sales. They make more because they made money.
2: GW sees a bunch of complaining and a bunch of sales. They make more because they made money.
3: GW sees a bunch of complaining and little sales. They slowly reverse course and then don't bother with the shit going forward for at least a few more years until they try again.

We've actually seen ONE semi successful boycott within 40k, and that was the updated ork boyz kit that was so fucking bad, they went back to the previous version. And that only happened because of the complaining AND little sales. Since this one is such a drastic scale change, they probably won't just pull the new custodes off of shelves, but continuing to use the existing models in boxes going forward and not including female heads in future releases would be the indicator that this worked.

Unfortunately because gamers are so fucking unable to help themselves with any kind of self control, I doubt scenario 3 is going to happen with this. See exhibit A:

I don't know yet. I try to do wysiwyg, just for my own autism, and haven't got enough minis games under my belt since my return to mix it up or to have a new edition invalidate my models.

That said, I use third party minis a lot. Though I get away with it because the weapons are the weapons. eg. An assault rifle is an assault rifle. A laser rifle is a lasgun.

What are you talking about? I've not been back that long and I've seen a bunch. Horus Heresy 3 they're struggling to shift. GW bringing back The Old World was another.

Struggling to shift product is not the same ad admitting they fucked up so badly that they had to replace it with the previous version. That's a whole other level of fuckup beyond product collecting dust. That's what happened with the 2021 combat patrol ork boyz sprue that only had 5 choppa and 3 shoota in it, so you couldn't even make an otherwise legal squad of all choppa or all shoota boyz.

Yes, Old World and HH 3.0 boxes are sitting around collecting dust. So were Adeptus Titanicus and Aeronautica Imperialis, even Legions Imperialis doesn't get stocked at some GW stores now other than having a mandatory copy of the starter box. But none of that is the same as this walkback of a fuckup.

But they also sell the previous one because they fucked up

It's not one of those always out of stock listings, it's not made to order, it's not a web exclusive only sold in the generic white box, it's a black eye that a boycott worked and they had to do something about it rather than just slowly drop support for something and let it fade out of existence. And no, I'm not mixing this up with beast snagga boyz, that's a separate kit and listing

And in case you haven't noticed, they're still releasing stuff for The Old World, and HH 3.0 so clearly those didn't entirely flop(they're also releasing shit for LI but again, that's not the same as having to dig out the previous version of the mold because the updated one was rejected to quickly).

For similar 40k shit where this didn't happen:
Inquisitor Coteaz(character, and a rarely used one at that so the low volume is kinda whatever)
Blood Angels Sanguinary Guard. Imagine if they still had the previous sculpts online for these guys?
Yet somehow it was Ork Boyz that got so much flak and so little sales, they had to drag out the previous version to make people happy. That's a successful boycott that wasn't even discussed to be a boycott, just that the sprues were shit and people didn't want them.
