Also posted in Tabletop Watch, and give me optimistic ratings if you want, but I still think the femstodes are probably the high watermak of left-wing culture war bulshit 40k will see.Despite all the wailing and gnashing of teeth from RW 40ktubers(Arch), warhammer has, comparatively speaking, weathered the culture war storm better than almost every other franchise. Now we are starting to see companies moving away from it because of how much money theyve thrown into the pit only to get flops and salted earth. Combine this with the monumental success of space marine 2 and captain titus, who literally embodies everything left wingers hate about 40k(masculine white guy power fantasy where the imperium is good and no hint of satire whatsoever), has essentially become the face of warhammer 40k and I expect to see him in multiple media projects going forward, not to mention gws own lore. The femstodes I think and has been rumored to be a test run/sacrifice. The guys in GW who value sales the most know this will absolutely flop, but have allowed it to happen to get concrete proof to finally shut up the female marine advocates within GW once and for all.

Also for my actual 40k post, do yall see GW giving the chaos god legions(besides death guard) future love in the coming years? Total war 40k needs dlc factions after all, and the god legions dont have enough models to fill out a dlc. Also the fact that there are pretty obvious additions to be made, like WE terminators.

This is along the lines of what Valrak believes, that female Custodes are GW's sacrifice to placate the wokists/fetishists and keep them away from Space Marines. Note that Valrak himself doesn't like female Custodes, but he doesn't make a big fuss about it because he's a family man who doesn't want to be bothered by those same wokists.

I expect the cult legions will be at the tail end of TW40k development many years down the road, comparable to the Chaos Gods in TWW3. Daemons can be tacked onto them as well. You have a point that Death Guard are big enough to possibly be sooner, though.

I kinda slowly grown to almost like valrak? His leaks are truthful, he’s just a dumb English bloke, and doesn’t beat around the bush of saying he likes things and not.

@Farm Hand

Im a big proponent of Corvus as an alternative to Abaddon to paint black but I think theres something being forgotten and that Nuln Oil.

Corvus has a hint of blue but Nuln Oil removes that and shades the recesses because its not 100% black like Abaddon (its like a 95% black).

I should learn dry brushing but thats another way of playing with black, going to Eshin Grey. Ive also started doing all my layering and highlights before i wash so it kinda blends it all together but thats a different discussion

Dumb question, do you guys fully assemble a model before painting it or do you paint it in segments?

Getting ready to paint the starter set marines and it seems borderline impossible to reach some pieces like the breastplate if I leave the weapons attached.

Depends on the model and pose. It's generally a matter of considering the tradeoffs between subassemblies being a pain and some areas getting harder to reach, as you note. It often makes sense to keep the arms as a subassembly if you've got a very closed pose, as with Marines with bolters across their chests, but it sometimes just doesn't feel worthwhile if you're painting up a swarm of 10-point troops and the hard-to-reach area would be barely visible at the best of times.

I do. I understand the segment method, but I've just never done it and I'm set in my ways.

Hey 40k nerds, have any of you guys ever gotten in hot water over using proxies or proxy components? I was told by a Europerson that there was a rumor circulating as far back as the 90s about a GW store employee who seized a proxy army and threw it into a fire. I want this to be true.

Never heard that one, but I believe it.

No, I've never gotten any guff for proxies but also
1: Any proxies I use actually resemble what they're supposed to be, are based in the right size, and are armed similarly. You look at my troops, you got no question what they are and what they're armed with even if it's not GW standards.
2: I don't play at GW official stores and never will. My two go-to places don't give a shit as long as Point 1 is adhered to.

Once upon a time gw allowed for none gw parts to be used but unit had to be primarily Warhammer parts. That doesn't exist anymore but you can't play in store these days so it doesn't matter at all. As for models being sized that would never happen and they would just ask you to remove the unit from the table. I've seen first had a blue shirt look over a land speeder kit bash and seriously consider asking the guy to take it off the board.
All the payer had done was attach the land speeder body to the ork truck chasey to make it look like an all terrain buggy then place the multi melta just behind the crew. It was actually pretty cool looking as well.

They’re probably going to do the Total Warhammer DLC route with chaos. I can see them just doing a chaos faction that’s just black legion mixed in with a lot of daemons, cultists, and guard just to pad out the units and gradually release DLC of the various alignments. I don’t think we’ll get Night Lords unless they’re just a general special retinue sadly but I do think Death Guard will get their own faction under the alignment. Could be wrong because TW3 had specific chaos gods as daemons.

Nerds are certainly non confrontational to a fault letting basically anyone just walk all over them, but this is very much likely bullshit.

First of all, even if it's the UK the employee could still be in legal trouble for taking someone's property and destroying it.
Second, where the hell would a fire be in the vicinity of a GW store even in the 90s for said employee to toss the army into?
Third, if we're talking about the 90s this wouldn't have been too far after the deodorant tank from WD(1987), and the idea of a GW employee being that ride or die for the company is just stupid.

Hell, WD 123 from March of 1990 features a kitbashed tzeentch army on page 13 photographed in color in a primarily black and white magazine. Had a full page ad for third party WFHB orcs(yes with a C) and goblins on page 20 and kept advertising third party minis through 1991. Additionally even into the late 90s you had Armorcast making third party models for 40k with a license.

The idea of a store manager scooping up an army to throw it into a fire is retarded. Asking someone to leave and then calling the cops if they don't would make sense.

Yeah as far as this sort of thing goes I take what valrak says over any RW creator or anything. He very clearly has someone up the chain in gw whispering in his ear with his leaks, so it’s not crazy to think he’s got reliable info on this subject as well.

Trust me I was as shocked as you. I watched one of his streams earlier this year and he seemed like just a wholesome dude. Not to mention if you read between the lines he obviously has right wing aligned beliefs, which makes it a shame that folks like Arch still go after him based on preconceived notions.

Raider kit has some great Deldar in it

99% of the time, fully assemble.

Sub assembly is largely a wasted effort, with only a few exceptions. A pilot in a machine. The interiour of a tank with opening doors, or the backpacks of space marines. That kind of thing is fairly obvious though.

The main reason is most of the time, if you can't get a brush there, then it's likely not going to be seen.
eg. If a guy is holding a rifle across his chest and you can't paint the side of the gun close to his body, no one is going to notice or care.

I haven't, but I've not tried yet.

In bolt action, it wasn't an issue. Though it was my painted minis I got criticism for, oddly enough.

As for 40k, people used coke can dreadnaughts back in the day. But I only saw that in home games.

Just an FYI Temu has faction dice (d6) for about $3. They probably don't have everything but most of the 18 legions are represented. You only get 12 in a set instead of 16 but it's still better than GW usury.

They look good it's only the camera that sucks

how do they roll? I'd imagine Temu would cheap out and sell you uneven dice.
