I've been looking into Table Top Sim, gotta find a day to actually set up the Warhammer stuff and try it out

Ultramarines.
Know No Fear made me adore the Ultramarines, but I'm on the fence on getting them, I also really like the Astra Militarum but painting them seems daunting

If you like ultramarines... great. They can be a shooting army, an elite army, a melee army, a vehicle army, And since they're normal ass space marines, you've got access to the most units in the game to do whatever you want and they're always cheap due to constantly being in discount boxes so second hand availability for even new on sprue models should be fine unless you live in some armpit of the world where there's no one to play with.

If you've got a GW store in the vicinity, you could also pop in. If they're not busy they can give you some basic painting tutorials, beginning of the month they'll have a random free mini for the first couple of days, can walk you though a demo game so you can see if you even like the flow of something like 40k in the first place. Just be aware that they will be trying to hard sell you the entire time like it's a car dealership.

I haven't read the HH novels yet, I've mostly been going through older codex editions and the index Astarte's stuff. I'll give that one a listen if it's showing off the ultra men.
Honestly if you like the Astra Miltarum more you might want to go with them. An army is a massive commitment of time and money so you really want to make sure you pick correctly.
Also I'm wondering if you were leaning more towards Cadia or Krieg (I'm nosey)

Also consider gameplay. I loved Flesh Eater Courts but I hated playing them on the table top and it killed my energy to finish the army.

It's one of the better HH novels, I recommend it.

I'd like to do Krieg because I like their aesthetic, but I'm not really picky about which regimen I pick. The Armageddon Steel Legion would be rad to do as well, but I don't know if they have an army in 10th edition or how expensive they are.

First party models, no(long out of print). Bespoke rules, no. Expensive to buy the out of print models, incredibly so unless you find yourself a decent recaster. You'd almost be better off getting a 3d printer and some STLs for them if you actually wanted to do steel legion as more than just a color scheme.

I hate this nigga bro
if you watch anything with bricky in it I just assume you're a contemptible faggot. Everything this guedo fuck touches turns to shit and now he's pulling in animeniggers. This is what gundam does to the American mind.

Im not going to link it but if you go to Youtube and type in "full HH listening books" and look for a nigga named kn16h750f4ud1813 (replace the numbers for letters and "listening" for "audio") youll get thr first 8 books. Shits cash. Its frankly what a lore channel should be.

Gonna sound like a dumb question, any suggestions for a first-time painter/potential player? I haven't picked an army yet and I'm kinda overwhelmed.
Pick a faction that you like the look of and give their lore or rules a bit of a read. You'll find your army.

Then, research their Combat Patrol. Buy 1 and if you like it, a second one. Theyre good value boxes, esp for multiple purchases (most cases). Some factions like guard, marines, sisters and nids have wide ranges.

Cheap brushes, some primer and max 10 paints to start with (black, white and the colours youre going to use, then a paint a shade lighter of those) plus nuln oil and agrax earthshade. Vince Venturella and Duncan Rhodes do excellent painting videos, esp Duncan. Its not that Vince doesnt do the tutorial but he WILL teach you how to be a better painter through understanding theory.

So why are you posting his crap? It's not even his 40k crap, and it looks like some bullshit from a year ago.

To add to already given advice;
Find you some cheap models from...well hell, ANYTHING. Doesn't matter. My personal recommendation is the plastic Reaper Bones series. Cheap as chips. These are your practice dummies. These are what you'll try techniques on before you apply them to your army. I lucked out in that I inherited a whole bunch of junk miniatures far beyond repair or use, so I used them to test mixes, shades, ect.

Oh, and you don't need too many either. Just 2 or three at first should get you some good milage and practice.

This is a gossip forum where we talk shit about people. Frankly there hasnt been enough bricky hate lately.
For the entertainment before accuracy lorecast, there sure are a lot of tards who take whatever bricky and his gimp say as the word of god himself. Same guy who cried on stream about how "warhammer fans are an embarrassment" because they don't like the hekkin femstodes.

Emperor's Children / World Eaters / Thousand Sons look really cool, but just thinking of painting them (as a newbie) is enough to give me an aneurysm. :lossmanjack:
No love for Death Guard? I love doing nasty, gory effects so if I ever do go Chaos on a killteam, I know who I'm pledging to....

I used to enjoy Bricky before I knew better. I watched his lore podcast a lot, but then he said something about the Imperium that was blatantly wrong. I forget what it was, but that made me go "The fuck?" The same thing happened with Luetin. Also, yeah, his defending femstodes was another thing that made me stop watching him.

Just an FYI Temu has faction dice (d6) for about $3. They probably don't have everything but most of the 18 legions are represented. You only get 12 in a set instead of 16 but it's still better than GW usury.

They look good it's only the camera that sucks
Nice toes slut.

They're extremely heavy detailed on the model to paint. I've mentioned before how I think I'm done painting and then look around and notice some boil or fly or boil I missed.
