Warhammer 40k

I know it is hard to fathom but yes, i do have a bunch of the current 40k models, and if you did you would know that while some look good a lot of them look like overgrown marines, specially now with primaris. Just look at allarus:

I also have fondness for the oldmarines but the current custodes line are neither post-primaris scale nor heroic, its some weird middle ground.

Still, i appreciate the answer about the 30k sprues. I am just glad i won't have to kitbash any AOS legs into mine because it made them look even worse. :)
30k kits are just better at this point, only drawback is limited poses but for value, they’re usually on-point. I haven’t looked at Mechanicus pricing but if it follows Auxilla and Marine mindsets then it’s probably the same. Cheaper kits, but you gotta buy more to get an army. That’s why they’re pissy and took away 40k rules for all that cool shit.

Fuck, the best looking model last year was an HH release, that Centurion in Saturnine, beautiful kit.

I actually bought some Allarus Termies to make into EC Terminator HQs and a squad leader. Very good kit, also very likley began life as a marine kit.

If you do bit the bullet and get into the new Custodes, post an overview on size, bits and options. I’ve been raiding Custodes parts for years for my EC and while the tranny heads are terrible, that new Contemptor you guys are getting? That’s got my attention, the sword variant fits perfectly with an idea I’ve been cooking.

I think you suck flaccid cock and are genuinely a fucking retard.

Imagine getting into custardes now and not getting the old sculpts that weren’t dilated. No, HH sprues aren’t “different” btw.
You buying? I got a bunch of old sculpts id sell for the new ones. New ones are taller, slimmer and certainly less squattish. They look way better, more regal.

Id just use helmets, like I do with every non-character

For the purpose of selecting an off-black (dark grey), I suggest you look across all of the paint ranges rather than just Citadel or whatever your preferred brand is. For Citadel, Corvus Black is the designated off-black, but I tested it and immediately saw that it was too blue for my liking. Because I care about this too much, I actually bought the real photographed paint swatches from the Tale of Painters guy for the best comparisons (when official color charts can be deceptive) short of hunting down and buying paints just for testing once. Now seeing all of the blacks and off-blacks across brands at the same time, the one I'm interested in getting to try out is Vallejo Game Color Charcoal. With a shade on it, it might turn out just right for me.
Are they worth buying?

I was wanting to compare all of the common black paints that are available but paying 60 bucks for the full whack I thought was a bit wasteful.

What you'd expect it to be, odd there hasn't been a more generic preview of game mechanics like the base building or if morale returns in the same manner as DoW 1.
Valrak video today suggests that 11th vs box will contain
  • No Storm Boys
  • New Boys
  • New Gretchin
  • Generic Gruntherder HQ
  • Big Gun emplacement
  • War Trakk
  • Generic Warboss
I think lootas//burnas, Weirdboy, and a Deff dread closer to the old egg shape is a pretty safe bet too, I doubt it's just the above unless you get an insane number of boys

Doom Death Black from 2 thin coats is my go-to. Pretty much all the 2tc paints are good. Good consistency and coverage. It also uses a triad system and Im a sucker for triad paint systems. The off-blacks and darker greys too have been excellent in my estimation. You can almost use them straight from the bottle, very little thinning needed.

The only way they’ll do Decimus is if they do Eldar as well. But it’s GW and they’ll never advance that storyline because they never do anything with the plot.
Vigilus Ablaze pretty much confirmed he done his attack, with the majority of the Legion following him (which is strange because Krieg Archebus got the largest NL warband), but it was in 2021 and barely a paragraph.
Well, it fits with how they dropped "The Grey Knights are hunting the Ynnari" in a single paragraph around the same time.

Hey, couple of questions, because I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the hobby. What paints and brushes would you guys recommend? Can people link me to some good resources? I've already looked at Duncan's 2 Thin Coats, but I wanted to get some more options.

Pro acryl have consistently the best paints but Vallejo, TTC and even some Citadel paints are excellent.

Cheap brushes from Amazon. Get one of those packs that has 1 of every size, then another that gives like 60 of thr small brushes. Get a good brush when you are more committed.

Citadels Black Legion is an excellent black to use. Contrast so flows well and strong pigment. Their Abaddon Black is also solid.

If you want a gloss finish (for reflected light off glass helmets etc), Vallejo gloss black is another good one.

Paints? Two Thin Coats, Vallejo, AK 3rd gen acrylic, Army Painter Fanatic Monument Hobbies ProAcryl, that's a pretty decent spread and you should be able to find at least one or two of those at a local store.

If your local hobby store doesn't have some cheaper synthetic brushes(don't buy Citadel's bullshit overpriced brushes, and you don't need a winsor and newton series 7 either), go to Michaels or whatever craft store equivalent you have local, go to the "fine arts" section, and get some cheap synthetics. a round pointed #2, a smaller #0, and a couple in between. You'll probably ruin them, but that's fine because they should be $2-5. Can probably get a decent variety pack with a handful of usable sizes for $10-15 and then a couple wide brushes that are just too big for much of anything except maybe dry brushing. Get used to washing your brushes(dish soap works fine on synthetics, if you do get sable brushes then shampoo can work until you get some brush soap).

For basing your minis, the hobby store should have a variety of texture pastes for everything from snow, mud, desert, asphalt, etc. in a jar. Don't buy Citadel's bullshit overpriced spoonful of texture paste.

I'm about to start some Goff Meganobz but I'm struggling to decide what to do for the highlights on the black armor mainly, I have a whole bunch of the Citadel paints already so trying to find a solution with those preferably.

When doing black metal most people seem to use the likes of Incubi Darkness/Thunderhawk Blue/Russ Grey or something like Stegadon Scale Green for edge highlighting but it always just reads far too blue/green to me rather than highlights that would naturally appear on black metal.

I've got the Army Painter Fanatic Matt Black which is a real nice black for a basecoat along with Corvus Black, Black Legion, Eshin Grey, Administratum Grey and Dawnstone to play around with Citadel-wise.

Was thinking about trying out something like Matt Black base with highlights using Administratum Grey and Dawnstone to keep it a more 'pure' black or maybe even Matt Black with Eshin Grey and Dawnstone which will read even darker.

Kay I just finished building a bunch of Tau stuff because I love mechs and dirty IRL military tactics and this is what I have so far.

• 1x Commander Shadowsun
• 1x Cadre Fireblade
• 1x Commander in Coldstar Battlesuit
• 1x Ethereal
• 1x Fire Warrior Shas'ui
• 9x Fire Warrior w/ pulse rifle
• 1x Pathfinder Shas'ui
• 6x Pathfinders w/ pulse carbine
• 2x Pathfinders w/ ion rifle
• 1x Pathfinders w/ rail rifle
• 1x Broadside Shas’vre
• 1x Broadside Shas’ui
• 1x Crisis Sunforge Shas’vre
• 2x Crisis Sunforge Shas’ui
• 1x Ghostkeel Battlesuit
• 1x Riptide Battlesuit
• 1x Stealth Shas'vre
• 2x Stealth Shas'ui w/ burst cannon
• 1x Hammerhead Gunship

I'm in the process of getting one more broadside so I can either have 3 of them together or do 3 separate units of them also Breacher Team with Devilfish support, anything else I should grab while I'm at it?

Site fucked my tism post, short post ahead.

Im playing around with Eshin on some Eldar Uthwe Guardians. Its subtle. The blues work on them because Eldar.

Black metal Orks? Stick to proper greys. Eshin, Dawnstone.

Friend sent me a photo of his wip nidder, got me inspired to put brush to figure. This one is on his way.

This is somehow more disappointing to learn about than the Lion vs Angron fight.
