A real missed opportunity for James Workshop to use those new light assault vehicles for Imperial Cult. A light fast fighting force with allied units of Death Watch, Sisters, and Grey Knights would have actually worked as a soup force.

Nah, roundhouse kick the dyketosdes and make them humble like you're Iron Shiek

Games Workshop, you no good motherFUCKERS. You are worse than Micheal Jackson! You're worse than Brian Blair! Why you take away da Squats?! Why you take away da Imperial Beastmen? Why you keep raising prices?! You're lucky Killteam come and save your ass! You used to put out fun games! You used to have whimsey! Now you just have da Primaris! You just have the female custodes and Ultramarines! I ever see you, I put you all in the Camel Clutch, break your back, fuck your ass before God and Jesus, make you HAMBLE!

I guess new vanguard vets and land speeders will be nice? Sure beats the flamethrower marines from last editions box, also the new captain is just a less cool version of the 9th edition one and heavy bolter gravis marines is just peak slop. It would be nice if they included some terrain like they did in 9th.

Are they going to be doing tiered starter boxes again?
That is an absolute certainty. Big release box with special edition models. A month later, large box with terrain and less models then special edition box. Mid tier box will be same models as the large just no terrain and finally bottom tier box of a single squad of ork boyz, intercessors, a paper mat and flimsy bit of cardboard terrain.

I'm calling the price at £175 - £190 for the big release box given the Hours Heresy price tag so start saving those pennies lads. Also if you really want the box check 3rd party sellers midnight of the pre-order date as it's probably the only way you're getting one.

Sisters of Slaughter - $85 GW price
High Gladiatrix - $68 GW price
Army of Renown which is a box of both is $110 GW price.

Slap a discount on it and I paid $83.

Thats the same price youd pay for a box of intercessors with no character to lead them.

Really puts the cost into perspective sometimes. 40k is their goose that lays golden eggs and they know it.

All prices in dollarydoos but should be similar ratios.

Let's not kid ourselves that Warhammer would be at all worth playing if it wasn't for the emotional investment of your little guys you spent dozens of hours assembling and painting. Not even saying that as a criticism, it's just the thing that separates it from a regular board game.
I want to disagree, but you might be right for a lot of people.

I've dabbled in a lot of board games, including war games like Nexus Ops, and TTRPGs like Dungeons and Dragons. I say this because the investment of games like DnD makes finding a game near impossible, despite a massive amount of people claiming they want to play.

GW also has the benefit that Spearhead is currently reguarded as a good game in it's own right. My concern is it's not killy enough, but I'll find out once I get a full game on the board.

I also think that's why the current design philosophy of "this guy goes together this way only" and "you only use whats in the box" will hurt them in the long run.
But at the same time, it's helping get people into the game.

A large part of the appeal of Spearhead (and to a lesser degree Combat Patrol) is that fixed army lists gets rid of a lot of friction. I like games like K47, but I've yet to have a real game of it because of arguments over points values and model count. eg. My attitude of "just build a 1500pt list and we'll play next week" clashes when I get to the game and they either didn't build a list at all, or just put all their toys on the table even if it's a wildly unbalanced game. Likewise, my inclusion of a high point cost tank (the king tiger) creates resistance.

Just yesterday I built some Stormcast (getting that spearhead magazine) and it straight up says to build guys how you like, as the hammer + shield and the duel hammer guys use the same "warhammer" stat block.

This popped up in my recommendations on YouTube and I did not like it.

>creepy breathy but slightly nasal voice
>'give it a little tickle' genuinely made my skin crawl
>screen name is 'sprue goons'
>end result looks shit anyway

I've seen purple used to shade warmer gold tones(which that is not), and god that result looks fucking awful. The rest of his videos seem to be the same shit. Just putting contrast paint over something. His "easiest ultramarine" recipe looks like a chalky mess because of how badly it was primed, and then just slaps contrast blue over it so the shitty primer texture shows through.

People being obsessed with slap chopping marines, some of the easiest minis to paint thanks to the rounded unicolor surfaces will never not be funny, all you need is 2 thin coats and a tiny brush for a highlight.

Ive painted 1 marine in my life and im kicking myself for not picking marines. Easiest shit to do. I probably wouldnt even bothering to airbrush them unless you were batch painting.

They have less detail compared to just about every other model out there, theyre not a horde army (although that could be funny), theres no fur or scales to speed paint and they require no special techniques. Big brush for colour 1, detail brush for trim and extras.

Ive watched his vids randomly on insta and the only benefit i see is you get to see how the paint looks on a model, skipping a test model phase. And that purple over gold was just stupid and ugly.

So it seems GW might have pulled some fuckery irritating a reasonably large enough retailer that while I'm nowhere near them I've still heard of them before, and allegedly other stores as well.

Now if this did actually happen...
a: I'm sure some retard will read it, not get the context that GW probably held back supply for web orders and declares that the chad gamers won and the woke GW is recalling femstodes.
b: People will be over it within 3 months.

GW trade accounts getting kneecapped is rather common but not with long time customers or larger stores. Someone at GW sales screwed up but doesn't want to own their mistakes.

I remember an old white dwarf battle report where he was against an orc horde and needed as many bolters as he could feild just to have enough attack to fight them off.

This.

The post even mentions GW has been incredibly consistent. I imagine there's some big behind the scenes fuck up going on.

Not sure if I mentioned this before, but Warlord Games had a similar issue with soviet starter boxes a couple months ago. Long story short, they didn't manage to get the plastic production they had planned, went with resin instead, but the soviet bears wouldn't cast in resin. They can 3D print, but not at scale. In the end, they offered refunds to most, and 3D prints for the few that wanted to wait.

I think GW will make good on the orders eventually.

Not a culture war thing, this happens whenever GW is nearing a major box edition release and to ensure they dont repeat 9th they are ONLY making 11th ed boxes right now.

All the attention on the 11th ed box for a smooth as possible launch. Probably explains why the eldar and dark eldar combat patrols had missing models from the set.
