All of my friends are convinced that 40k is about fascists being right.

It's more about presenting a reality where fascism is necessary. A feel-good space setting like Star Trek would be ill-equipped to handle a Genestealer Cult. The Federation would be debating freedom of religion for decades while untold billions are having their DNA hijacked to produce monsters.

That's what I like about Warhammer, it has that "damning ourselves to hell for the salvation of others" vibe that I really like in stories. In many ways it is perhaps one of the most noble ideas. I guess the whole "he who fights monsters" quote would actually fit better.

It also presents a universe where hard choices are the norm, and sometimes you have to burn down a village to save a country because whatever might have corrupted the village is like a nasty form of cancer that will kill everything else if you don't apply intense chemo ASAP.

Any bleeding heart looking in might be appalled, but this is a universe where bleeding hearts are universally useful idiots for the unremitting horrors that want to screw over everyone.

Saying it's a universe where you have to be fascist only gives a shallow perspective of the whole picture. It's a universe where anything less than extreme solutions fail miserably, half measures are nigh always total failures.

Well that and site like Polygon. I've had to explain to them several times that I will not validate a Polygon or any such website as a source for any 'evidence' in an argument. This confuses them greatly.
Maybe tell them that it’s subversive. I’ve always thought that 40k could be considered a satire of authoritarianism in that only in a universe where literal demons and armies of sentient fungus exist is where authoritarianism is justified.

If that doesn’t work then nothing will.

It's oppressive religious Feudalism in space anyway, not fascism, and it's presented as being a living hell for the majority of people, but things are too entrenched, desperate and far gone for any positive change to happen. The massive flaws the "good" factions have is part of the appeal, when compared to the literal soul eating Daemons and planet eating insectoid swarms.

40K is like the real world, it's pretty horrific for most people unless they happen to live in the good areas (USA/western Europe, at least for middle-upper class). The imperium is incredibly vast so there are world that will never see war and will have okay leadership. But those world don't make interesting stories.
As for Fascism, it really depends on the planet. The council of Terra won't really affect the average citizen in any manner.

I love kitbashed stuff so now you’ve said it you have to show us.
I need to take some better pics, but to whet your appetite, here's one of an older fig I built years back.

Yes, that is a Necron Destroyer Lord torso, head, and arms, mounted on an old Tomb Spyder chassis, with Genestealer arms sticking out.

one character i would like to see more of is crowe, especially given the fact of his ability to not fall to chaos whilst wielding a demon sword that cant die.

In a quest to reinstate Prussia after assisting a faction called the Teutonic Knights in overthrowing the German government I think I just accidentally created a rebranded Imperium of Man.

Well thanks to @Capsaicin Addict i’m gonna do a mini image dump of some of my kitbashed Heretic Astartes kill team with an explanation of where the parts are from

First of all my two Chaos Space Marine gunners

Heads are the standards from the chaos marauders kits. Bodies are Necrons destroyers, the right model has a heavy bolter from the plastic MK3 kit and a power fist from the same kit. I am aware they can’t take one as an option it’s purely aesthetic the same goes for my second model who has a chainsword and heavy gauss can which will be a plasma gun in game. Legs come from the 5th ed plastic chaos space marine terminators.

These cultists use an ork boy body and legs as a base as well as skulls from the gw box of skulls set, the big shooters are from the ork boys kit and are used as heavy stubbers. I also use a flail from the marauder sprue and bolt pistol from the 3rd edition chaos space marine kit. Both close combat cultists use arms from rogue trader era orks and in the second pic the club arm is from the 6th edition fantasy mutations sprue.

Finally my aspiring champion. Body, legs and power pack are from the 5th ed chaos space marine box. The sword arm and head comes from the marauders kit and the bionic arm from the space marine devastators box.

What if Kiwi Farms could be a subsection of Space Marines, similar to the Space Wolves in canon 40K?
I mean, we could claim @Null to be descended from Russ' seed for propaganda purposes, and have great archivists.

I'm rereading the "Space Wolf Omnibus" and want to get started someday. :)

Space wolves definitely not, Kiwi farms is effectively the library of internet happenings so word bearers would be better suited.

Not to ruin any future Space Marine building fun but a better fit if you want a 40k comparison would be an Inquistion Ordo considering what we do here. We investigate, catalog, and damn the lolcows like heretics. Null is a Lord Inquisitor he kinda has authority over us but can't really give us orders. We mostly answer to each other and if you embarrass us or yourself you can end up getting halal'd and become a subject of interest. We also have official rules like "no trolling plans" but might look the other way if you get results. We are also the subject of irrational fear among those we study and are treated like the boogeyman from people that don't quite understand what it is we actually do.

Wouldn't we just call each other faggots and then shoot ourselves?
