How do you guys settle on paint schemes for your armies?
I paint my test model, think to myself I don’t want to waste this effort and paint the rest of my army the exact same way.

I have a kitbashed Lamenter that I need to finish at some point, its part of my Killteam project.
McFarlane Toys will be releasing a full poseable unpainted Space Marine action figure, with more figures to be announced.

They're thick and dry pretty quickly. I find them to be really useful for smaller details but the pooling effect can make larger details like armour panels kind of iffy. They tint white or pale colours, but otherwise act like a strong glaze and shade paint. The faces on the new sisters are borked anyway mate. I wouldn't worry about it. What are the contrast paints like? I ordered a load last week for a project after watching a few vids.
Not gonna lie, they actually look great in orange too.I only came back to the hobby just before Christmas after not playing since the start of 3rd edition. My only experience in 2nd and 3rd edition was Space Wolves because I thought I was edgy. I now find space marines boring so went with Orks for my first army and I decided Orange was better than Green ya gitz.View attachment 1161285
I'm too afraid to paint miniatures because I'm afraid I'll screw something up or I'll miss glue something or a part will break off and make the whole kit unable to be finished.
it doesn't help that everything is fucking expensive, like if I wanted a few Lizard men dino units that's a few hundred bucks right there. Like an Engine of The Gods and a few Carnosaurs. That and all the diorama buildings and everything is even more expensive, so I couldn't take a bartop and turn it into a huge ass display unless I was going to drop a few grand.
Should I paint the parts before assembly or after?Couple things:
1. You can paint over fuck-ups in assembly pretty easily.
2. It doesn't matter how good/bad an individual unit is, only that the army as a cohesive whole looks good.
3. Start with something easy and work your way up to the crazy stuff. You can buy a $5 junk marine and practice on that before you drop $60 on St. Celestine or $200 on a titan.

I also don't know if customizing things a certain way will make the model illegal for play
