Games Workshop has show their first releases of their McFarlane toys line. The last one is a space marine left unpainted, so you can pick the chapter.

Horus didn't get obliterated and the emperor didn't get crippled for this.
I don't know what to say about the necron, I think I just have different tastes regarding them then most.

I think the primaris boys look good. I think the unpainted is a great idea as long as they adjust the price for it, even then the price point is so low that it's not a deal breaker. Remember that McFarlane isn't $100 jap imports. They are $20.

i think its my personal taste getting ahead of me, im not the biggest primaris fan, but also the fact i cant look at warhammer and go 'ah yes funko pops and action figures'. hell they have us already paying for little plastic men and codices that cost you a arm and limb.

There is definitely a decent portion of 40k fans that havent and will never touch the table top. I only just started making the beginning moves myself after reading stuff for a long time. This is definitely more of a move for those fans. There are also toy collectors out there that have a pile of crap that would put any Warhammer army to shame. The fact that they also have a SEPERATE premium space marine line from Japan also shows this.

The only problem with their big move to action figures as someone is who really into that scene. Is that their methods and handling of the Japanese imports is complete cancer and has an abysmal accessory count for the price and subject matter.

The smart thing to do if I was game workshop is have the Space Marines and more generic units done decently and cheaply by McFarlane. Then have characters like the chapter masters and such done in the premium manner by bandai. And make sure the 2 lines scale with each other.

That actually describes most of my 40K friends; they don't have the time, space, or money for an army, so they just read the lore or play the video games. I first became dimly aware of 40K in the early 2000s, didn't really start getting into it until 2011, and didn't start an army until 2017, right before 8th dropped. I think you're right and GW is aiming for a different market segment with this stuff.

Get your fucking dolls and funko pops off my table, you neckbeard faggots
Don't get mad that my action figure exposes your og Marines for the marinlets they actually are.

Figure collectors are insane and can definitely rival the miniature profit margins if played correctly. People army build action figures with $60 figures in that community.

those marinelets have been protecting the imperium for 10,000 years and making kino while doing so, if abbadon was smarter he would have angled the black fortress so that it would have crushed cawl and trazyn.
shitposting aside the humble tactical marine is to iconic so even if the plot boys do phase them out they will huge fucken boots to fill.

I do think the marinlets look better for sure. I will fucking seethe when they start primarising up the more iconic and individualistic units of each legions like death company and such. I also am not a big fan of the lore for some of new units like the judicar is kinda redundant and retarded (model looks awesome tho.). Especially when there is room for more new stuff in xenos factions and even other imperial factions. I really don't think people will be as eager to replace their bikes as GW wants to believe.

good example is shrike who went from thee Beakie to generic super human warrior #85.

You know what I want?
I want GW to come out with something called "The Reliquary," which showcases the various relics carried by the factions.
As in what they really look like.
Maybe sell them in packs based on each faction. Certainly would help in putting models together.
Like you have an HQ and you assign that relic to them, wouldn't it be nice to actually having that relic on their person?
