He loses every game he plays but still comes back for more and hes always buying boyz, sounds like a true hobbyist compared to the secondaries tumbling into warhammer.
Do you guys think it was the popularity of vermintide and total warhammer bringing 40k back into the spotlight that did this? Astartes youtube trended far too recently to be the start of this and alfabusa is arcane and esoteric for outsiders.

"Feminist 40k" has been around since 2017, or at least they started getting picked up via the hacks at BoLS and SpikyBits around then. Sigmarxism since 2019.

2017 is about 2, 3 years since GamerGate and Sad Puppies, so it was around the time the leftoids had realized that there was significant pushback happening and they needed to find easier hobbies to "fix" for clout. Give them a few years to stew and spread the word of this "problematic" hobby that straight white men enjoy without proper black female transsexual supervision, and, yeah, there you go. Think pieces came out around that time here and there, BOLS / SB blog posts putting out feelers, etc etc, culminating in Sigmarxism and their organized attempts to purge people for wrongthink and force GW's hand.

The vidya games probably didn't help matters, though. And the upcoming Marvel comics crap is definitely going to drag in a lot of cancer.

Nobody reads comic books. At most the marvel comic will sell 20,000 copies and end up cancelled after issue #4
Not before shitting all over canon/tone
Edit: in a lapse of judgement, i forgot about the kids comic. New comic cant be as bad right? Right!?

I'm more worried about it attracting shitty Woke YA authors into BL, or dragging Woke shitheads into the hobby from the extra-poz'd Comics industry.
The BL is so notoriously close-kept it might as well be a secret society, but I suspect we will be handed down our woke from someone already inside, like dembski-bowden
Speaking of which, sigmarxism is hard at work slowly eroding any mention of controversy over his female empowerment and use of pronouns and are replicating this sort of thought erasure across the whole of 1d4. Check out the edit history for dembski-bowdens page over at 1d4. One of the people who edits the slaneesh page to be less "icky" can be directly traced back to sigmarxism as well.

Reminds me of how I saw a YouTube comment saying “maybe more women would get into the hobby if there were more love stories incorporated into the lore” and that stood out as rather ridiculous to me (if I wanted to hear about romance and possibly lewd stuff IN SPACE I’d go buy some trashy pulpy sci fi novel all about seducing aliens from my local bookstore, not demand BL release such a thing) but considering how woke folks (ironically) like to generalise entire demographics, who knows, we could see some LOVE CAN BLOOM stuff going down in canon.

Yup, there are several other articles on 1d4 that they protect. Not sure which users are tied to Sigmarxism. A few users like to run to the (sub) admin but not the actual admin to get people banned if they disagree with them, or if they suspect them of being the dreaded /pol/ user. (Read: Disagrees with them politically in any way.)

For posterity's sake, though it likely only matters to me, Runelord Brass isn't really all that close to Brazen Brass (which it replaced). Runelord is actually a brass color while brazen is distinctly more coppery. I was able to get close brazen brass with one coat of Hasphut copper on top of runelord brass and I actually like it more than brazen brass. I can also say that, while I can't test against the old Dwarf Bronze, the equivalent Coat d'Arms (Dwarven Bronze) and the replacement (Hashut Copper) are pretty far off from each other.

Left is Brazen Brass, middle is Dwarven Bronze, right is the Hashut Copper on Runelord Brass

I'm trying to figure out what to do with the scale drapes for the Indomitus Necrons. My secondary color is already the copper color I just wrote about so using that color would be over the top. My tertiary color is bright red but I worry that's over-the-top abrasive. Does anyone have any ideas or have you seen interesting ways to do those? Pretty much all of the ones I've seen have just used gold or copper.

I painted my cron army yellow but used steel legion drab for the cape then dry brushed it screaming skull and it looks ok. It’ll probably look good with the bronze armour panels.

LIIVI was mentioned in an official source. I forgot what codex but it was name dropped in a small side story.

Might hit the local game store and pick up the indomitus paints. I'm not sure I need new shades of metallics, but it might add a bit of variation to some of my Custodes and AdMech.

Runelord Brass, Canoptek Alloy, Cryptek Armourshade Gloss, Tesseract Glow

Not sure what the point of them is other than "they're the necron colors in the art"... Like, I know Agrax Earthshade is useful for a "dirty" look, Nuln Oil desaturates and shades, Seraphim Septia is good for warming and aging... but what the heck is the intended effect that Cryptek Armourshade is for?

Metallic Red via Leadbelcher or Iron Hands Steel + a Red Contrast Paint? Or Runelord Brass with a Red Contrast Paint on top?

I'll try some things like both of these and see how they turn out. I like the ideas but am not sure which will work out best yet.

As for the Necron paints, yeah, they're pretty much just the colors GW uses now. I wouldn't have bothered with Runelord Brass if it weren't supposed to be the replacement for Brazen Brass but it's still a nice brass color. I've used the Tesseract Glow for the orbs and so far it's been nice but I don't see much more use for it. It was almost sold out at my local store after launch. The Cryptek Armourshade gloss reminds me of well-oiled machinery, especially when oil pools and sits in the crevices of a mill. I'm not going to use it because I don't really like the "dirty Necron" look. I don't see the point of Canoptek Alloy pretty much at all though; it's yet another silvery metallic.

I guess what I'm saying is that while I see the niche that it fills for marketing and use of ease it doesn't really seem different enough from other similar paints to really be its own thing. I think you could approximate that color with Ironbreaker/Runfang Steel (unless they're more different than I expect from their predecessors) and a little bit of Runelord Brass. I'm not very familiar with the "new" paints though, so I could be wrong.

So I got some brushes, a couple paint sets, and went to my LGS to get a Nuln Oil and a few other citadel colors I wanted. Currently I'm practicing on some old board game minis I won't worry about looking ugly from a Magic the Gathering game.

I think the minis are a little small and low on detail to look good, but I'm ok with that since I'm learning. Definitely didn't wipe my brush down enough for dry brushing, but discovered on smaller models it's probably better to do one base color and highlight from there.

Definitely will be getting Recruit starter when I think I'm ready. Will paint the Astartes up as Raptors, but not sure how I'll do the crons.

The paint and tools set looks kinda nice. Looks like full sized paints, a set of clippers, and a brush of dubious usefulness.

Have any of you heard of Death Ray Designs?

These are my personal favorites:

I checked out their site and there are some things there I wouldn't mind having for terrain.
Same for Battle Systems:

This set would be great to represent the corridors of a ship:
And adding this to it:

Aside from Dembski-Bowden apparently having a cadre of edit warriors protecting his good name, what indicates he's particularly likely to espouse woke shit? I ask because I had an intuition he might be into that kind of faggotry from reading some of his books (which are generally good) - the tip-off I had was how he wrote women as just as likely to be in combat roles and generally seemed to favour them in his depictions. But that was just a vague impression I had on limited information.

The lady tells me that his mechanicus novels had pronoun faggotry in them, and his article page also stated this at some point. I don't believe ive picked up any of his novels just yet, but I don't particularly plan to. Just by knowing hes trying to sneak this shit in like female custodes sours it (and he was promptly bitch slapped by black library leadership for the suggestion)
I own the entire gaunts ghosts series start to finish, some assorted novels, the word bearers omnibus, the OG imperial guard omnibus, ahriman omnibus by french, the entirety of gotrek+felix and the entirety of cain. I can tolerate Sons of the Hydra being a completely off the rails novel, but I can't knowingly buy bowden when i'm going to immediately see him setting up his novel as a progressive mouthpiece three chapters ahead of time.

Sons of the hydra is a fucking journey by the way.
