Man, they aren't allowed to make AOS interesting, not when they're about to re-release WFB.

As an aside, say I'm a weirdo who ends up buying an Imperial Knight or two on a lark. What magnets would I need to make their weapons modular?

AOS is getting its own version of Psychic Awakening, but unlike that pointless endeavor, shit actually happens. Rules that allow for a unified Dark Elf army are front and center in the first book, along with meaningful lore, like Morathi giving birth to the messiah of Slaanesh. Not kidding, I honestly think they went there, if previews are correct.
It is not Morathi giving birth to The Newborn, which is either the child of Slaanesh or Slaanesh escaping its prison by giving birth to itself. Morathi uses an artifact to absorb the souls of the Phoenix Kings that are in Slaanesh (so Finubar the Cuck is dead). She absorbs almost all of them until she encounter the soul of her love, Aenarion. He is disgusted by Morathi and stops her from consuming his soul. Morathi emerges stronger with the power of Phoenix Kings, but she still has her snake monster form. In fact, her two forms were separated, so now in the game, you play with both forms of Morathi on the tabletop.

Slaanesh's Newborn was able to escape into the Mortal Realms by the breach that Morathi made.

The other new lore is that the Free City of Anvilgard has been taken over by Daughters of Khaine, renamed Har Kuron. All of the humans and duardin have been killed, except for the Stormcast, because killing them would alert Sigmar to Morathi's betrayal. The only other Order factions in the city are all of the units that came from the Dark Elves army. The story ends with the Stormcast leader of Anvilgard being broken out of prison by someone with red eyes and bat-like wings. So most likely Malerion and his elves are going to show up and put Morathi in her place.

I don't even like Dark Elves (unless you count Idoneth), but I find all these shenanigans very interesting.

You can get rare earth magnets off eBay for pretty cheap. Just need to get the right sizes. There are a lot of different guides out there, but this one looks pretty good, at least as a starting point.

I wonder if AoS 3rd edition will do away with the Army stuff order, destruction, chaos, destruction.

Though the Fyreslayer battle tome teases this idea.

I'm somewhere between love and hate when it comes to 'magmalt ale.'

I got my Terminator Chaplain Tarentus. Decided lack of any customization options, but that's not surprising.

I'm torn on how to paint him. I use a fairly limited color palette intentionally on my Space Marines. They're Blood Ravens, so Khorne Red armor, German Grey (Corvid Black is a close Citadel substitute) for blacks, Morghast Bone for bone. Inheriting Retributor Armor for Gold and Doombull Brown for Leather from my Custodes, and Iron Warrior / Screaming Skull / Balthasar Gold metallics from my AdMech. Occasional white + apothacary white for tassels or Rakarth Flesh + Screamer Pink for Parchment.

Thinking I'll go Black with Khorne Red trim, and a red and bone cape. Bone shoulderpads as normal. Or maybe I'll just paint him like any other Blood Raven HQ -- full red, bone shoulders with black trim, some mixed metallics for the glitz -- with the mental image of "The Chaplain? Nah, he just looted was gifted a Chaplain Power Armor suit. Don't ask questions. Praise the Emperor."

I saw a video of a guy showing of his 10k points of blood angels sprawled out on a table, but then I looked at my 10k points of custodes sitting on a small bookshelf...

Really makes you think...

At last count I had about
4K Necron - fully painted
3K - 4K Dark Angels - WIP
Roughly 2K in unbuilt Death Guard

And a fair bit of unpainted terrain but not gonna start that until I get onto my gaming boards.

Somehow I missed (the 4chan 9th Space Marine Codex seem to miss the librarian datasheets) that the Primaris have a Phobos Armored Librarian with a pool of sneaky psychic powers for other Phobos units.

This only fuels my desire for a Phobos heavy Raptors army. Has anyone got the second tier (Command? the one without terrain) Starter box? Is it's rule book a fully functional 9th edition book minus lore? I might consider that over the Recruit to skip on the 9th edition hardcover, plus the outriders. Could have a little melee detachment with the units from that, plus a Invictus. Then look into Start Collecting Vanguard, Primaris Captain/Librarian in Phobos, more Infiltrators/Incursors, maybe another set of Eliminators, and Ranged Dreads for a shooty and objective camping main force.

Nigga the phobos librarian is a couple years old now. Also yes the command edition rule book is just all the crunch from the core book. It's a shame the phobos librarian isn't more useful in general. It is a cool model.
