I like the blood effects and while pooling can be a little off-putting, it gives these guys an oily feel to them, like some sort of sweat is staining the clothes.

The other fantastic thing about these model are the conversions, especially the axe for the guy on the left. It is so seamless that I had to check what my copy of that model was carrying. How did you go about the converting?

It actually came like this. The First Stirke starter set with a couple of Plague Marines and some Ultramarines.
The Poxwalkers here https://www.games-workshop.com/en-PL/Death-Guard-Poxwalkers-2021 are the latest models.
I did some more after these (Plague Marines, Blightlord Terminators, Typhus etc.) but they look pretty shitty on cam. Also bought some skulls and grass for decoration.

Legit, I don't wanna put you down. I too am just starting with mini painting, and 40k minis are my next step. Remember that those models are going to mostly be seen across a table and you can get a good effect with out having to have extremely precise up close detail. I honestly think they look good for play, and if you wanted to put a bit more of highlighting detial work into it, they'd look better closer up.

But...

How the fuck did you get that much Agrax Earthshade onto those minis? This is an entirely separate comment from their overall appearance, and more a genuine curiocity. I use Agrax Earthshade on some of my practice minis and it's so thin I can't imagine getting it to pool like that.

Others may disagree, and when your doing a horde army and want to get 90 boyz on the table, just dunking in a wash probably suffices, but I've personally found to get the recess depth effect of a wash, slathering it makes the smooth areas appear dirty. I like to soak a brush in the wash, and then just press into the areas I want to bring out the grooves and texture on a mini and just let it flow, don't brush on. And have a clean, dryish brush ready to absorb over saturation.

It’s about 75% complete at this point with just the skulls, fabrics and shoulders to layer and highlight.

I am still waiting on my fucking Death Guard codex and 2 other model kits. I was told apparently they changed from Fedex to UPS for 2021 which is causing issues but I used to work for Fedex and thought UPS had more of their shit together than Fedex.

I forget which book, but Alpharius does say that he supported Lion El'Johnson to be Warmaster.
Out of the things listed, this may be the only true thing stated.
